As a fellow visually impaired person I can relate.They should have announcements some kind of public/technology communication when local things like this are going on instead of would just rely on visual signage like that. They could do it on the TV or send alerts to people phones or stuff like how we do it weather alerts. This way they would be accessible in more than one way and wouldn’t rely on you having to figure it out only when you’re there

Wow, can I just say that you’re just so graceful and you knew how to calm yourself down and take a breather because honestly if you were panicking and completely lost your mind it’s obviously not gonna get you anywhere so first things first and any situation we always gotta remember to stay calm be relaxed figure it out And continue to figure out what we’re gonna go and what we’re gonna do and that’s exactly what you did and as a blind person myself the way you said they need to braille braille braille, braille braille the sign for the blind people lol that joke got me because they really do or at least they should or maybe have some type of audio signal or maybe put some information on your cities website or your cities social media like Instagram something like that and for also blind people to know not just sided people sometimes even sided people don’t pay attention unfortunately when they are walking. And just anyone kids too, but what matters most is that you are fine nothing happened to you. Just a little scared but you come to yourself down you got through it and what nice of that. Nice friendly man to stop and asked if you were OK. I’m glad he did. We need more nice people like him to keep an eye out and yes like you said obviously Arabella wasn’t able to find the light pole because there was no light pole so it definitely was a tricky situation but he said it wasn’t your fault. It wasn’t the dogs fault. Can we just talk about construction stuff for a second I am so tired of construction stuff everywhere I feel like they’re doing construction and it’s annoying. I don’t even know if they’re even, making streets or sidewalks better or making them worse but I am glad you’re OK and hopefully they do better about letting people in general know when they’re fixing stuff because sometimes I feel like they fix stuff and they don’t tell people ahead of time and sometimes they just end up putting the signs up and it sometimes could be very very inconvenient because they should always have signs up early advancement timeframe, but I’m glad you’re OK. I like you always say never lose joy joy! All you wanted to do was take beautiful Arabella for a walk and then that incident happened but like you said you don’t let your blindness stop you from walking and facing challenges, and just getting through with your day much love joy

I’ve been in situations where I’ve fallen and I can’t help but just cry I cry and frustration, but it’s just life and what the blind have to go through sometime the blind goes through a lot more than what people know but we get through it and move on, you are so brave love your videos and you’re so amazing💜👩🦯🌻
Oh my, I can imagine how scary that would be! I am not blind but my mother recently broke her pelvis and hip (a total of 4 fractures) and wow, that was such an eye opening experience looking for handicapped accessible restrooms and doorways that could fit her small wheelchair through! It made me realize that we, as a country, have a lot of work to do.
Arabella is the cutest she rlly did her best, I started getting so stressed when I saw the construction, thankfully you didnt fall into drying concrete, they should have rlly blocked it off better if they know a blind resident lives nearby, like use one of those orange construction barriers, glad you didnt fall into the street Yea and you started to speed up when you knew you got close to the light pole, btw the pole is still there just no concrete near it, what a nice old man Btw even me watching the video I didnt notice the sidewalk closed sign, until the end when you he pointed it out, glad you are ok

I think it’s really hard for you to actually hold your cane in your left hand as you’re holding the dogs leash. I’m not sure if I would be able to do that. I think I would be able to hold my dog in my left hand if I had a dog, and my phone and my right hand and that’s it. That’s probably how I would be able to do it.
One time when I was in independence training, their was a floppy sign that wasn't on the ground for my cane to detect. I ran smack into it, hitting my nose. I slipped out a few cuss words and asked invisible people why someone put a sign right there.
That was my husband‘s mistake lol, he is the one who actually put it on her before I went out the door. Oh well, I will put it on correctly next time :-)
