    That skin is the most beautiful and glowing skin I've ever seen. I was thinking about giving up on Tretinoin, but this inspires me to not give up. My dermatologist recommended me to use it every night before bedtime. In the beginning, my skin was purging all the time, but now it's used to it. Been using it for 1 month.

    • @Zapatozi
      @Zapatozi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@keshikhaashrinanthan5421 Much better. It just looks more clean than before and I noticed that some of my hyperpigmentation is gone. I'm going to keep on using tretinoin.
      Tip: Don't put too much of it on the face, it'll cause more redness and irritation. I did that before, because I thought that it will make more faster progress, but it didn't. So just put pea-sized amount of tretinoin on the cheeks and forehead.

    I was on tretinoin for a while and my skin definitely went through the phase, it was basically sun burnt for months on end! I will definitely ask my derm about it again and try it 2 times a week instead of 3-4! I have never tried a cleansing balm before, that looks amazing!

    • @SarahSaleen

      you need to be really diligent about wearing and reapplying suncreen as tretinoin makes your skin more sensitive to sun exposure, also all the work tret does will be undone by sun without spf

      Also don’t forget Tretinoin / Retin-A comes in .01%, .025% .05% and .1% that’s a 10 fold difference in strength. You might need to start out at .01% or .025% once a week then build up in frequency, dosage and how much you apply.

    Hi! I love love love your videos. I recently just started using tretinoin and I realized I was kind of doing it all wrong after watching your videos so Im going to wait a week and then start using it again. But I have some questions, my derm recommended me using dapsone during the day and tretinoin at night. But I'm kind of confused..am I suppose to Cleanse, Moisturize, and then use dapsone during the day and then recleanse, moisturize, for tretinoin at night? IM not really sure how to use both of these during the day. Or do I use dapsone on days im not using tretinoin? I really really hope you respond. Thank you so much for all these videos about tretinoin i've liked every single one of them haha.
    Also, I should mention I'm also taking Seysara tablets as well too during the day
    Also, when you wake up during the morning, because tretinoin is a night skincare routine, what are you suppose to do in the morning? Just cleanse after waking up and then wait for nightime and recleanse again.
    My routine before was:
    Cleanse with (La Roche Posay Hydrating Gentle Cleanser)
    Moisturize with just a Gold Bond Pure moisture daily body & face lotion with hyaluronic acid and naturally sourced grapeseed oil
    And then I'd apply Tretinoin at night
    And then sunscreen in the morning (the melt in milk face/body sunscreen by la roche posay)
    However I'd do this routine every day (I've only been doing this for about maybe 2-3 weeks now and I've only noticed it getting worse but I'm aware acne tends to get worse before it gets better or so I'm told)I'm pretty determined so Im not giving up just yet even though it makes me emotional. I'll probably just take it back to 2-3 times a week even though my skin is use to it everyday now with no flaking/ mild irritation/and barely any dryness because i mositurize.
    Also was I doing this routine correctly and are the products im using now in your opinion good products to use? Im really sorry this is pretty long but I admire your skin so much and Im hoping I can get on the same level of skin care as you soon. Also if it isnt obvious I have no idea about skincare, Im very new at this and before i would use pharmacy acne facial washes before I realized how harsh they were on your skin. Im sorry if some of my questions seem dumb or just common sense but I have really no idea. Im only 17 but I really really want to get this figured out as soon as possible. You dont understand how much it would mean to me if you could respond. Thank you so much for your videos, you are truly helping out so many people. 😊

    First, your skin is so goals!! You look amazing. I have dry dull skin with red/blemish & scars on my cheeks with hyperpigmentation around my mouth area. Did you have a dark mouth area before this skin care routine? I want to add the amino acid + 5, alpha arbutin 2% + HA and hylauronic acid into my skincare routine. Do you think these products are key to my issues?

    • @SarahSaleen
      @SarahSaleen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I used to have a lot more darkness around my mouth. Amino acid +5 can help with hydration but it can be a bit tingly for some people when they start it. Just a heads up 😆… yess adding alpha arbutin can really help. I tend to use it 2x a day. Also look into tranexamic acid. I talk about it in other videos but it also blocks excess production of melanin and it doesn’t actually exfoliate your skin so it’s easy to incorporate into skincare routines. Naturium has one and tons of pigment correcting products have tranexamic acid in them as well. I mention some in my hyperpigmentation video.

Yes it is only prescription but there are brands that make their own custom blends with tretinoin like Dermatica, and dear brightly. differin is also always an over the counter option….. But as for over the counter retinoids besides that, retinaldehyde is as strong of a retinoid as you can get without going into prescription-strength : Avéne RetrinAL 0.1 Intensive Cream, Skin Script Retinaldehyde Serum, allies of skin retinal and peptides night cream, to name a few!

I wanted to try incorporating a benyzol peroxide wash once a week, but would you recommend that? I know some say to stay away from other actives while on tret, but I'm worried tret alone isn't really working 😭 I been using a peroxide gel I was prescribed but I really haven't seen much of a difference lol. Very informative! Question for you. I’ve been using Tret for a long time now as well (cystic acne issues). I keep my routine very simple. Now and then I still get acne coming up, leaving me scars. I’m also finding that my skin is very dry. Other than a good moisturizer, what else do you think I should incorporate into my routine to deal with the scarring and the dryness (at the same time not straying from a simple routine)? Please and thank you :)

    • @SarahSaleen
      @SarahSaleen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! Thank you! So there are a few options. You don’t need to do them all of course but even one can make a big difference. For one you can incorporate a more occlusive product on top of your moisturizer to lock in moisture even more. In this video I show the paulas choice hydrating mask and it’s still my favorite.
      Keep a super gentle cleanser in your rotation if you’re not already. Cleansing sets the stage for the routine.
      Another option is to use a hydrating toner or essence to start your routine right after cleansing. This can also act as a light buffer under the tret which may result is less dryness
      One more option is incorporating a hydrating serum. I can give you multiple recommendations if you like but The one I’m using right now is the paulas choice
      Omega+ complex serum. I use it in the mornings right before moisturizer and at night sometimes I’ll even use it before my tret.
      I hope that helps a bit! ❤️

    • @SarahSaleen
      @SarahSaleen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes on waiting for tret to absorb before applying oil after tretinoin. Retinization is the tret adjustment period where can can get really dry and compromised and possibly peel. So essentially id try using it over the tret if or when your skin is not experiencing any irritation from the tret. Try it a few times a week and see how your skincare handles the combination before you make it a regular part of the routine. ❤️☺️

    Dear Sarah, first of all thank you very much for sharing your routine! I have a question to ask you. I use tretinoin 0,05% since April and I’ve noticed such big changes in my skin. Though, I constantly have very small comedones under skin that you can see especially if I turn my face against some kind of light. Do you know what this problem can be caused by? Maybe a lack of exfoliation? If yes, do you suggest any exfoliating products I can use in the nights that I’m not using my tretinoin. 💕💕

    • @SarahSaleen
      @SarahSaleen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! Is it milia? Milia can looks like tiny white pearls under the skin. Yes exfoliating can help. Using aha’s like lactic and glicolic (concentrations of 10% or lower ) can be helpful…
      The ordinary has a few if you’re looking for a affordable straight forward option. I personally keep the lactic acid in my collection
      Some others I loves are the sanitas hydrating brightening solution and the globiotics probiotics resurfacing solution.
      -I would however only use them if you are past the retinization phase of using your tret
      - another option is a physical exfoliant like a scrub. I’m not a fan of most on the market, or of using them too frequently.
      But, they can be helpful if it is milia you’re trying to treat. My preferred one is the skin ceuticals micro exfoliant.

I am using acdermin gel having 0.025% tretinoin three nights a week alternatively. And on the alternate three nights i apply Inkey list's bha serum because i have very oily acne prone skin with black heads and white heads. So bha helps in going inside those big open pores and in cleansing them. Am i doing it too much? For removing facial hair i use tinkle razors. They are also kinda a form of exfoliation...

    • @SarahSaleen
      @SarahSaleen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Thank you so much 🥰. Yes I use all different chemical exfoliating products on my tret off nights, and I also shave my face often. I always tell beginners to ease into exfoliating on tret off nights because a lot of skin barrier damage can happen when it’s over done. But you also have to just listen to your skin. If you’re seeing a positive difference, if you’re not seeing signs of a compromised skin barrier like, redness, tightness, flaking, peeling, sensitivity, itchiness, then it might be that your skin is doing fine with handling your products. If you do notice any of that irritation, scale back. Hope that helps ❤️

      Peeling itself is not necessarily an adverse reaction. But Side effects like peeling, stinging, dryness are within the stage of retinization. However just because it is a normal stage doesn’t mean your skin isn’t irritated and compromised. The skin will need extra attention during this stage and Sometimes these side effects can worsen to the extent that hypo or hyperpigmentation can occur. That’s why it’s important to take it slow so that the side effects aren’t too overwhelming for your skin. Also your skin cells can shed faster without visible peeling and some prefer to get through the retinization phase with less side effects by taking extra precautions. I hope that answered your question somewhat 😅❤️🥰

      Hey! Thank you so much ☺️ yes tret can impair the skin barrier which is why there can be peeling, flaking, irritation and redness, and even more breakouts. I do have a beginners guide to tret video,where I talk about how to minimize it.. but there’s no guarantee that you will avoid it completely. Skin can be more sensitive after starting tret and it can last months.
      The acne you’re talking about can be common after waxing and is different from the acne that can develop after starting tret.
      If you’re nervous about tret I would start with a retinol product that you can get over the counter and see how your skin does.
      Also avoid any waxing if you start using any retinoid.

      @SarahSaleen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! So if your skin is tolerating the tret well, then on your off days you can try either azelaic acid or mandelic acid.. or alternate between the two.. I like the ones for Naturium best. Both are good AHA options for sensitive acne prone skin. Azelaic targets more of the congestion, inflammation, redness, it’s antimocrobial
      Mandelic can help unclog pores, it has anti bacterial properties, helps with inflammation, can help result in fewer breakouts
      You also can instead use a mild salicylic wash on the off days like the one from cere ve.
      Start slowly though, and work your way up though so you can access your Skin tolerance.

    Kind of confused - on another video, you recommended Bioderma micellar water to remove makeup (which I bought yesterday on Amazon, thanks to you!) but you also mentioned Green Clean makeup balm on this video? Which is better for acne-prone skin?

      Both are great. I usually use a balm. It honestly comes down to preference, what you like the feel of more. Honestly if you’re new to double cleaning the bioderma is a great place to start. It’s still the best micellar water I’ve tried

    Hi I really love your skin, how often do you use tretinoin daily or how many times?

    Just came across your page ❤ Hello. I have a question being new to skincare I'm still trying to find the right way of using .if you can please help me .
    I am really confused on skincare literally So far I have the ordinary products (natural moisturizer factors, niacinamide10%1%zine, alpha arbutin2%lactic acid
    Laroche posay cleanser & triple repair cream
    Inkeylist hyaluronic acid serum & pha toner& eye cream (I’m trying to find another toner but don’t know how it works or what it’s for ) my friend gave me a hydrating toner with rose water by Dickinson
    & I was prescribed recently tretinoincream
    I have a few breakouts nothing major
    Recently got eczema around my eyes and cheeks but went away so I’m keeping it calm & rosecea on cheeks
    I do have dry skin on my face neck and chest some marks and uneven skin tone I’m also trying to manage nothing getting wrinkles etc lol I’m 30years.

    Hi Sarah,how should the ordinary alpha arbutin 2%+HA should be applied either to dry skin or damp skin?

      You can apply it to dry skin or damp skin.. as long as it’s not wet skin. So I’d pat dry any excess water off the skin and then apply it if you’re wanting to apply it to damp skin.
      Hope that’s not confusing 😅❤️
