Mate I paused on watching and keeping up with Trash Taste for a brief period of time, and that just happened to be during. The. Worst. Time. When it comes to keeping up.
I love how super eyepatch wolf has popularized these kind of deep dives into internet subcultures and overall weirdness. I can already see the garfield video's influence on this and I'm completely here for it.

DUDE I have no idea how you managed to endure that 4 months of going through our stupid, quite deranged and insane fan fiction, but HOLY SHIT this video came out perfectly. 40 minutes of great script writing and editing, absolutely phenomenal documentary! Especially that voice-acted stuff, that took me by surprise. You really brought out our sentiments towards the community and the boys quite nicely.
I don't know how you did it though, it took us maybe around 2 weeks working on the timeline and by the end, we we're so fed up with it. We ended up rushing it and I personally don't feel quite satisfied with the end results. You'd especially see this in the Apocalypse, Dank Worldline and Akashic Incursion in which case, random bullshit go brrrrr. Will we continue or fix it? No, absolutely fucking not, but I feel as if the messiness adds to the appeal. Besides, as you mentioned, the dark timeline has ended on a happy note so there's no point.
I'd also like to apologize about how disorganized our Google Doc was, no one bothered to fix it. So mad props to you for interpreting that, not going insane and not giving up!!
I'm honestly just losing myself watching this video, it takes itself so seriously yet it's full of gibberish inside-joke nonsense. Watched it fully with a friend who knows nothing about Trash Taste, I can just feel her questioning my pastimes and sanity. I guess that's the only problem with this video is that only true TT connoisseurs can fully appreciate the references since you'd have to explain every single joke. Even I, the guy who brainstormed half of it, can't fully comprehend this nonsense. But to a degree, I hate that it makes sense.
For anyone potentially concerned though, we're not actually mentally deranged (well maybe...). Just extremely bored teenagers with nothing better to do during the process of making this. I find it hilarious that we're thought of as schizo-posting. I do gotta admit that this entire ordeal screams parasocial, it is what it is.
Some fun facts:
- We actually forgot to change the name of the 20th Century Boys Timeline into '9 and 1/2 Pounds' (among many MANY other mistakes, and I hate the fact that I noticed a lot of them during this video).
- The first angel สิ่งที่พระเจ้าสร้างขึ้น means "What God Created" in Thai. I don't even know whether that's an actual term and if it's grammatically correct because I just looked up potential Thai translations of the word 'creation' in Google translate (ngl, it sounds badass).
- Similarly, Anghenfil Null was supposed to be a reference to Alioth from Marvel. Its name is supposed to mean "Void/Null Monster" in Welsh
- Anghenfil Null is supposed to be the 2nd angel while Garntlactus is the 3rd. This is just my weird and scuffed parody reflecting Evangelion's lore.
- There's a hidden Korok somewhere in there
- Garnt hates crust because of Earth's own crust and it's tectonic movements.
- And if it wasn't obvious (it definitely wasn't), Eren Kruger is supposed to be JCM.
As a Fate fan myself (of course I fucking am), the goal was to make this timeline more complicated than Fate. Methinks we did a great job.
Anyways, just wanna say THANK YOU!! to everyone who contributed their memes/shitposts, fanarts, lore ideas to this abomination. I was only there to compile, connect and rationalize the chronology of the timeline. The entirety of subreddit deserves all the credit.

Oh shit, thank you again for compiling this beast of a timeline! Maybe the 'story' still has a few loose ends, but I think that's also the charm of it, and it's pretty much impossible to form a perfect narrative from what is basically a bunch of shitposts lmao. I could also see where it could get parasocial, but at a point I think the community stopped talking about the boys entirely and just began making up our own characters lmao.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and some very interesting pointers! I would say it was worth it :)

Honestly you captured the Trash Taste history lore pretty accurately, I came in expecting some kinda of pscyh-analysis on the bois and how the internet put too much expectations on them. But this was just way more entertaining than expected with the special effects. Bravo dude. I hope this blows up

Garnt himself said they expected to get 100K subs within like a year they started it. Look how that turned out, got it done in a month. The power of the beginning OG Trash Taste are really strong. I feel glad to be apart of them since the day Garnt gave a sneak peak clip about Trash Taste and him talking about 'messaging' studio Wit bout MikasaxEren happening lol. Ahhhh that brings back some good memories. I mean Trash Taste turned out as a fun side project talking bout anime to a series we all sit down to listen to every week. Of course there'll come a time when it ends like Podtaku and it'll be sad as shit where we cope with memes but hey!

Yes, I do feel with TrashTaste we have understood the trio much more, it's sort of a reality TV show equivalent for the "boys". Bit concerned that the fans may develop unhealthy para-social relationship due to TrashTaste but all in all idt that is gonna happen.

So many lores combined, damn. We got Steins Gate, Fate, MCU, Attack on Titan, JoJo's, Among Us, Hololive, the list goes on... mad respect for everyone envolved. As someone who was more invested in trash taste from 2020 to 2021, this video really helped me catch up with the fandom stuff lmao
The Trash Taste Dark Timeline is the most creative, and coolest things I have ever seen a fandom/community do.
I'm so happy I got to experience this first hand as a member of the Trash Taste community.
Trash Taste is essentially Weeb Top Gear. It's the same principle formula. 3 charismatic presenters and close friends. Just talking about things and doing cool stuff.
Fanfic writers' passion will never cease to amaze me
Though I may be an avid viewer of trash taste, having watched them since the beginning, I’ve never dared to delve into the chaos that is the subreddit. I’ve heard many things about it as the boys have made reference to it in numerous episodes, but it is honestly beyond anything I imagined. However, I’m glad that you took the approach you did with the video because I agree, one of the most appealing things about trash taste, despite all the subculture and memes, is that it’s three guys having a conversation and making you feel part of it - not just some extra money making endeavour. I also believe that it perfectly captures a community of people who like anime and games, but also food, travel, and just hanging out with friends.

Yes, Lovecraft created the main bulk of it, but at some point other writers started to expand it and he himself encourage them to do it and in the end we have a plethora of stories and lore from different authors and different times, that somehow still make sense in NOT making sense.

I was around during the timeline phase of the fandom. I stopped going on social media about a month later due to mental health. I mainly knew about the BBC Timeline and the Dark Timeline. The others are all past me and I’m glad that I can catch up on the insanity and greatness of these timelines.

My favourite part about the whole multiverse meme saga was just how it probably wouldn't have become what it was if that first post hadn't been made so close to the release of Dr. Strange 2, so much of the timeline and multiverse posts and memes and characters all just existed because of how focused online discourse was on Dr. Strange 2 at that time

You know... it's very hard to talk in superlatives when we're talking about such expansive groups. (like, 'the best anime', 'the greatest in all of media', and so on.)
But... this. I can confidently say, The Trash Taste Timelines are the craziest in all of media.
This was the first big fanfic I've ever seen unfold live and participated. I think it was around the Time Warden arc where I really got into it. And it was such a wild ride, never before have I seen such cooperation on the internet..
And the ending is something else...
A freaking fantastic summary. Really got the core events down without getting too jumbled. Really happy my little overview/explanation got featured at the end there too
HOLY FUCK. This video was way better than I expected, you somehow took that abomination of a timeline and managed to make a fully comprehensive video detailing the story of the dark timeline. Editing and script were amazing, especially the voice acting. That got me chuckling at 1 am lmao. I am a bit sad though that you didn’t get to fully talk about some of the timelines (The holy grail war was my favorite). But still MASSIVE props for being able to comprehend it all without much help from us, and considering the runtime of the video, I think skimming over the other timelines was necessary for brevity’s sake.

As someone that started watching Connor and Joey long before Trash Taste I think it’s amazing how much the fan base has grown. I had no idea this timeline stuff even existed but I don’t really use Reddit so that’s probably why. Although I don’t watch Trash Taste that often I always enjoy the episodes when I do have time to sit down and listen/watch and, I love the specials.

being on the reddit back when it happend was weird. but since both connor and garnt made streams about it they have referenced it from time to time which i find funny. not really because of the content because while some of it was alright it was rather chaotic but the fact that at least for those two its them having some sort of solid evidence that trash taste went truly beyond their expectations and with it a little out of control though as you said in the video the community can be roped back if requested which is not something alot of communities can manage.

The funniest thing about this video is that, as comprehensive at it is, it still missed a lot of details, characters, and some plotlines. Still the best summary I've seen, and possibly the best there can be. Really, the best way to experience the story was to be on the subreddit as it was going on and seeing every fresh meme as it appears.
