Hey guys, this is more so an overview because I felt I could not find a lot of videos digging into the software and what it can and cannot do. I know I went through it very quickly but it is very simple. *THE TWO REASONS you would really get this switch is for VLANs and 2.5gig switching for under 50 USD ultimately.*
Thanks, looks like you have some extensive videos on Unifi! How would you say in your experience the feature set is? I've honestly been hesitant to try any of their stuff because I feel I can get more elsewhere through my own hardware and open source software or companies like Microtik, Juniper, etc. @ITSolurionsNetwork
I get that. I watched a video earlier than said you pay 15% more for about 30% less compared to the competition. I found that statement to be intriguing. You're buying into an ecosystem for sure. What is your opinion on them being no subscription based but they have products starting to offer feature sets with subscriptions?
@@learntohomelab I think it depends on what you compare it to. The cheapest MikroTik offers significantly more network features than any UniFi device. However, UniFi can be configured even by someone with no networking knowledge. As for the ecosystem, I think they started without a subscription model to attract users. It seems obvious to me that they will eventually introduce a subscription model for everything that is not basic functionality.

Good luck with your channel!

@ UniFi is very limited, and I mean it, it’s easy to configure but, very limited, but they are getting there slowly you know.
