- “Designed for those who demand performance and luxury.”
That’s how Airstream marketed its 1986 motorhome, and we recently had the opportunity to see one for ourselves. A 1986 Airstream 345 Motorhome is at Airstream of Greensboro for service, and the owner allowed Chad and Laura to take a tour. It has ample storage, inside and out, features that were state-of-the-art in 1986, plus some classic Airstream features we still see today. Do you think Airstream should bring back this motorhome?

The fact that after nearly 4 decades most everything still remains relatively intact and operational is truly a testament to the quality and craftsmanship that was put in to these elite coaches.
I agree!
I would love to have one. Airstream should bring back. Maybe a little wider but I love no slides
Nice Beautiful motor home yes definitely need to bring back 345
Thank you for sharing this with everyone
Yes, they definitely should bring it back!! Thank you for sharing 🤗
We agree!!
YES AIRSTREAM SHOULD DEFINITELY BRING IT BACK IN GENERAL MOTORS SHOULD BRING BACK THEIR VERSION 2
I have a 2024 Renegade XL but I still think that the Airstream 345 is very cool.
YES!!! Keep it simple in couple lengths. Choice of engines too!! Great Video!!!! I graduated from college in 1986 LOL!
Awesome review. Airstream should definitely bring these back
Agreed!
Super cool vid Chad ! Love seeing stuff like this .
Thanks!
There's a family in our neighborhood that has one of these-it appears from time to time in front of their house. The first time I saw it I was dumbfounded-I never knew that Airstream made anything like that! It's an impressive-looking thing. So cool that you got to experience one.
Also, crazy that they use to make a travel trailer with a slide!
@@ChadsRVReviews I didn't know that either!
It's really cool
Nice!! Thanks for showing it to us.
You're welcome!!
it would be great to see it back, that and the gmc motorhome! a modern diesel, front wheel drive would be big asset
Good video thank you
Thank you too
Very sweet
The plate on the counter is for a built in blender and more mixer
Super cool!
Not sure I like the automatic steps. I can see me getting up in the morning, stepping out and finding out the motor had burned out. BOOM
That is very cool! Great review
Thanks for watching!
I would bring it back but add sliders to the motor home 🏠 it would sell you have a good day 😮
I agree on the slides! I would love for them to bring back slides on Travel Trailers as well!
Yes.. with a Diesel. It would be the greatest class C in the world
Back then it wasn't a 7.4L, it was known as a 454 and if you said 7.4L everyone would look at you as if you were wearing their clothes.
Haha in my head I was thinking, “no this is a 454!”
Airstream also made a 370 motorhome based on a Gillig chassis with a Ford engine.
Cool!
Great video and a beautiful motor home. But what struck me is when Chad said that it only has 230 hp and yet a brand new Airstream Atlas has only just over 200 hp which is obviously not enough. If Airstream does bring it back I would hope that it would be more reliable than their current motor homes. Interesting video thanks for sharing.
But the Atlas has 332 ibs of torque! The new Atlas has great power and torque for it's size! If they ever did the 345 again, I think it would be on Ford F53 chassis that has the new Godzilla engine! It's 7.3L V-8 with 335HP and 468 ft-ib of torque!
@@ChadsRVReviews Chad, I spent my entire adult life working as a railway mechanic and I know a thing or two about diesel engines, a little 2 litre four cylinder twin turbo high output engine is screaming to produce 200 plus hp, it’s not going to last. In regards to the Airstream 345, if they would bring it back with the chassis and engine you described that would be just awesome! We really enjoy your videos. Regards
Every since Thor bought airstream they have turned the brand into crap
@@roberthepburn-gr4fq Thor has owned Airstream since 1980. They are the reason we still have Airstream. Thor saved Airstream from bankruptcy. www.airstream.com/blog/the-history-of-thor-and-airstream/

Did this motor home have front wheel drive like my old Revcon Motor home?
No this is rear wheel drive.
Low rpm generator
