I feel bad for the devs that have to crunch just because the execs at Gamefreak/Nintendo can’t stand missing the holiday deadlines. If they had another year or two of wiggle room, they probably could’ve made these the best Pokémon games ever.
This. It's clear the devs have some passion for the games and do care, but the exces Basically are blind to that and only see the monetary value of the franchise as a whole, not the suffering quality of the products they are forcing the devs to crunch out. 3 years isn't enough for making a proper game anymore, nor is having everything on this yearly schedule for the sake of min-maxing profits, only to crunch the hell out of every other party involved.

The game is good, but not anywhere near worth the $60 price tag. And I say that as someone who eats breathes and sleeps Pokemon. You can definitely see the passion behind it but The Pokémon Company obviously pushes for yearly releases for merch stuff which sucks cuz the games can never be up to par quality wise.
So hang on, let me get this straight. The pokemon fandom is defending this game nonstop and making excuses for it, while majority of us who liked sword and shield had to endure basically nonstop threats for liking a stupid game? With threats and insults still coming to this day? (And a decent chunk of us, myself included, got doxxed for liking shield) No, really, im sorry, but thats seriously not okay. I dont want others to get threats and feel unsafe, but at the same time, how exactly is that fair?
Honestly, my biggest problem with the games isn't even necessarily the performance and the glitches. It's that in terms of execution a lot in this game feels half baked. It has a large new open world? Awesome! But at the same time it's so boring. There's almost nothing to do in the overworld besides catching Pokemon and looking for items that the games spams at you and constantly points out exactly where they are by highlighting them. There's also the stakes, yeah, but that's still kinda boring. It also limits your exploration a lot by locking Koraidon/Miraidon's abilities behind the Herba mystica. It also completely defeats the purpose of an open world by not implementing Level scaling, meaning there's a very clear path you have to follow instead of tackling everything in the order you would prefer. Sure, there are a few parts you can tackle slightly out of order, but for the most part it's pretty linear. Like, I'm not opposed to linearity in open world games, in fact if done right it can be even better than a completely free game, but with pokemon SV there just wasn't enough balance or meat. It's also visually pretty bland with very basic locales. Gym tests suck. Like a lot. They're just a waste of time. Character customization took a huge hit for no good reason.
Absolutely.People think that except the bugs and glitches and bad graphics nothings wrong when even under that it's a terrible game.Even the actual so-called 'improvements' in this game are literally the bare minimum,it was something basic and below the barrel to be expected in a 3D Pokemon game.
@@jiyanmehta7250 I wouldn't say it's terrible. I do like the game, and while the execution of certain aspects is lackluster, the general idea is still pretty good and could lead to a truly great game later down the line if they improve on it. And there are things I did really like. Such as the writing. For Pokemon standards at least it has great writing.
I'm just happy you were able to make a review, not dunking on these games, but acknowledging they have problems and respecting their improvements while making it clear that they should not have released a game in this state.
Another thing that I noticed and found jarring before they patched it out in their "Quick-Fix" update was that when Pokemon were put to sleep their eyes *wouldn't* shut before that update. The fact they messed up so hard that they left out a feature that has been a mainstay for FOUR GENERATIONS (Started in Gen 5 , and continued from there), you know something wasn't right on the development side!
The Pokemon Company can shit in a bag, label it Pokemon and have it break records. It's not that impressive for the franchise to break records everytime something releases.
The reason why I bought Scarlet and Violet but not Sword and Shield was because bugs and framerate can be fixed with updates (that is if GameFreak does do performance enhance updates) but stuff like route design and how bare the wild area looks can’t be fixed with updates. The SV graphics I would personally rate the same or slightly better than SwSh’s, I think the reason why SV visuals have been getting a pass more than SwSh is because no one said that anything that specifically sacrificed for it. Removing features and dexit is a whole can or worms I will not open but GameFreak saying that they removed a loved feature to improve graphics basically told fans “we care more about graphics that we do this loved feature”, which then resulted in fans seeing if “have the graphics improved enough to justify this feature’s removal” with most of them replying “no, SwSh doesn’t look like Pokemon New Snap, thus the feature’s removal is not justified”.
I don't buy the graphics excuse one bit. They are just plain lazy and want to keep up with their yearly release schedule so it doesn't eat into their profits. Let's call a spade a spade here. Sun and Moon had the entire national dex, and the graphics on that are pretty close to Switch quality, that was what....800 some Pokemon? Honestly idk how people still defend GF, it very much reminds me of cuckold behavior.
Well, I will say, at least you don't get death threats since you don't like sword and shield, and will be defended by majority of the fandom since you like scarlet and violet. So I guess be happy about that.
That seems to be an issue some people are having. Although I only encountered that once the fact that it can happen is a problem. Especially for shiny hunters.
I haven't run into any bugs, graphical glitches, or framerate issues in my game at all. Maybe it's because I only play physical releases of games and my system is less bogged down? I love SV and it's making me want to check out SwSh c:
Careful. If you like sword and shield the fandom will rip you apart. I would know. I've been getting threats since the games came out because I love shield.
I do think seeing an open world 2d Pokemon game would be pretty fun to play. It combines the generally higher quality 2d art of the past games with a more open world setup that has fixed camera points to allow for some creative world designs especially in terms of puzzles
I tried to talk about this games issues with a friend and the only response I could get from her was, “Indie Devs bad.” It was frustrating. No team can make a good game with insane crunch time
From my personal experience I love these games I might not be an adult but I still like them I accept their flaws I mean I was really just looking at the frame rate of like some of the NPCs in like the classes and stuff in fact the only two glitches that you could say are partially major The experienced are well miriadon becoming invisible with me getting off of him and going back on or like turning around and he came back and clipping through some parts on the map which the Miriadon glitch only happened once and the clipping out of the map only happened two or three times ever since it's been like a few weeks or days and I haven't experienced a single glitch the only ones I can say I've seen sometimes or maybe just seeing through the map when you start a battle
I feel bad for scarlet and violet. A game like Breath of the Wild doesn't have to contain nearly a thousand sprites and sounds to match, therefore so much of the data is just the pokemon. Overall I haven't gotten too much time into the game probably 20 hours or so, so please take everything with a grain of salt. I agree with a lot of people saying the game itself is full and fun, and my biggest two complaints are not something specific with Scarlet and Violet but Game Freak needs to spend more time on polishing their games and the game should be able to be played faster, too many text boxes, animations take too long (the reason why I haven't used tera stones outside the 1st time), basic tutorial skips for people who have played a pokemon game, so on and so forth.
