Jaguar F Pace R Sport - Stunning On AND Off Road !

  • Jaguar said 'Take it off-road if you like'...so I did ! The F Pace had dynamic looks on the outside and the dynamic feel transfers through the steering wheel and into your whole body. In this video I put the 240PS R Sport model through it's paces.
    An impressive rival for the Range Rover Velar, Porsche Macan and Audi SQ5. A big thanks to Jaguar UK for letting me drive this stunning car and The Car Collective for organising the day.

    Yesterday, I test drove the 2 litre diesel R-Sport, immediately followed by the 3 litre, diesel V6 S. The performance difference was huge. The S is the car the F-Pace was designed to be (in my humble opinion). In fact, I found the sound and performance of the R-Sport really 'weedy', in that it sounded like a diesel van, and really had to be pushed hard to squeeze out any performance. It would be ideal for those simply wanting the beauty of an F-Pace, with the slightly better MPG figures. For me, it's the S all the way!

    Another great review Peter. Nice to see the drone shots, very cool. I saw my first one in Torquay yesterday & have to admit it's a looker. Sadly, just outside of my budget (didn't want to part with Corky the Coupe), so being the MINIAC that I am, I settled for a new Countryman 'S' automatic which I've put 500 enjoyable miles on this last week. Had the timing been better, the F Pace would certainly been on my list of considerations.
    As always, look forward to the next video.
    Cheers,
    Geof

    To be fair a few more inclines and loose surface for off road would be good... but I'm already sold on the car...oops you have seen some steep inclines... I'm currently looking at a a 3.0L diesel auto... Not saying the price... in case someone gazumps me... Same caesium blue... looking forward to completing the sale.

    Just drove this and the Edge ST back to back. Love the FP exterior looks & cabin but the extremely poor visibility/blandspots just kills the experience.

    Great review Pete. Would have been good to get some thoughts on boot and rear space though. Got to love a Jag - I've had many brands of cars but, there is just something special about a Jaguar and the driving feel.

    • @PetrolPed
      @PetrolPed  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rear passenger room is pretty generous. Boot is comparable with other cars in the sector. I'm a big Jag fan too :-)

    Absolutely brilliant review Ped. Cinematography at the start and end was amazing! But on the the important things. The F-Pace. We were really intrigued to your thoughts as its very similar to the Disco Sport inside and we wonder if it can compete with the Q5/Velar/XC60 longer term let alone the mighty Macan? But your point on the wheels was spot on. 19" really make the car! But if you lined up the cabins versus the badge versus the price who would get the nod?

    • @PetrolPed
      @PetrolPed  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mr PP likes it so that goes a long way to it getting the nod ! Bigger engine and wheels as it would need performance closer to the S4 to keep her happy !!

    That interior is beautiful fair play,the tyres are too fat for the small wheels and that big car with just a 2.0L diesel like you said I'd have the 3.0L just for that extra get up and go buuuut I wouldn't go out and buy one is that wrong😳 stiiiiill a great review Pete I am looking forward to seeing the i8 💪🏻

    I'm actually impressed with what Jaguar have been able to do with the F-Pace, taken into consideration it's their first take on offering an SUV. But you're right Ped, it's got to be 6 cylinders minimum, running on a not too thirsty 2.9 litre or 3 litre feed. AMG GLC63 runs on a lovely monstrous V8. No one has been able to compete with the GLC63 on those terms, not even Porsche's Macan Turbo. You reckon the F-Pace SVR will pack 8 cylinders to compete?

    • @PetrolPed
      @PetrolPed  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure but I resume it will have the V8 from the F Type and Range Rover Sport SVRs.

  • @alanbutterfield8057
    @alanbutterfield8057 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hi Peter, I like this car but as you say can't wait for the SVR that will be the Jaguar to get your teeth into that will pack a punch and the exhaust note that will rattle your fillings all the way back to the dealership lol a great vlog as always, but is the any chance yet of you getting your hands on the new BMW M550i as you said last week you will be reviewing the i8. Great vlog as always. Alan B

    Hi, as you know the R Sport is mainly sold in the 180ps configuration. I have just ordered one in this arrangement but it will be a 2019 model! Everything you say about the 240ps is pretty glowing, but I am slightly concerned based on this that I might have undersold myself. The 180ps seems do be doing everything you are talking about, but do you have any comments about the differences? are they not both 2 litres? You might recall we had a conversation about the 2L F type, which was helpful. Mike

    • @PetrolPed
      @PetrolPed  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mike.
      I’ve not driven the 180PS version. I would imagine it will have just a little bit less punch. Still a lovely car and for most types of driving you could agree it is more than enough. Enjoy your new car when it comes. Sounds like it’s going to be really special 👍

    Hi Nice video and music, Jag would approve. Question. I am driving a R sport XF at the moment and love all about it but am currently driving the F pace portfolio 2litre petrol on test for a few days. Its all great but the turning circle is not so good and the mirror and window controls don't fell that they are in a good place. Whats your thoughts, Other than that , love it. Nick

    • @PetrolPed
      @PetrolPed  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd go for the 3.0L F Pace...or wait the the F Pace SVR if your budget can stretch that far :-) That thing is going to be AWESOME !

    Good review. Having had to clean sheep poo off the tyres of my 3008 SUV, I don't envy the person who had to clean the cow poo off the tyres of the F Pace. Was the car fitted with normal road tyres?

    • @PetrolPed
      @PetrolPed  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Pete. Yep, normal road tyres and by the end they did have quite a bit of cow poo on them :-)

    Great review - noted this was the 2.0 240bhp car. Have you driven the 180bhp version? What did you think - ok or a bit under powered?

    • @PetrolPed
      @PetrolPed  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've not driven it but I think it would be a bit flat. For me you really need the 3.0L version for the performance level I would want !

    Excellent video. Made me think about your recent Tesla X review. With cars like the F-Pace and the Velar priced about £50k, if you were in the market for a SUV would you spend £100k on the Tesla X?

    Sorry but the only distinguishing view of the Fpace is the rear tailights at night. Shame cuz I have had 2 XJ's, and an XK. The only distinguished car in Jaguar's current lineup is the XJ. Everything else blends in too much. Put a new Stelvio next to an Fpace and its obvious which vehicle has the more commanding visual identity
