I remember when the salt flats speed records were being smashed when I was young. I watched religiously then they stopped televising due to restrictions and accidents. 5:40 How does increasing the length by four feet translate to TWO THOUSAND pounds in added weight? Am I missing something here? That math does not add up at all
OK the Hayabusa was one type of engine that was a little this is much longer with the turbo and the new transmission plus other associated equipment that’s probably where the 4 feet comes from different fuel tanks different oil systems it’s amazing how things will add up what you need to know is how much did the car away with the Hayabusa and then how much it weighs now you should be able to look at the statistics up it’s kind of tricky to find some of the Bonneville information though

It was just how it was done, Brad build the car in his garage. I should have seen the car before hand but Covid/travel and CA proved to be a bad combo. I don't mind the silicon if the pipe ends are thick. V bands are cool, but keep in mind the solid nature of them can cause the pipes to crack from the vibration.
What an achievement to that whole team as well as Real street and Jay! What a team and Jay what a guy! You can see what it means to everyone involved, that’s some next level s@&t right there that’s for sure, 322mph + wow
I find this truly amazing and I know nothing about those machines..... But why wouldn't you use v band clamps while in high boost for long periods. Just asking
@@davey_projects2977 There's a list of changes to come on the car. The turbo system just needs to be revised, like most home build projects there are revisions. I'll likely move to the Plasmaman clamps as they've worked well for me.

What strategies you think you might use to avoid needing to lift the throttle to control power? A form of traction control? I bet the salt is a unique surface to deal with.
@@davey_projects2977 No worries, all of these cars are a work in progress. I don't think anyone would have a go at the builder, he's just too talented. I would like to have a different turbo system all together and that may come in time. These projects as a whole are pretty intense. Better boost control would help a ton as well as just getting the boost control tied to ground speed. This was the cars first set of runs with this combination and all we did was show it's potential (more or less). As far as traction control... Yes it would make it so much easier to drive. I've set up some cars with good TC and it's wonderful with the right set up. We just didn't have the time to chase perfect and I did the best I could with what I had at the time.

We're going to move to Plasmaman clamps. The V band stuff is prone to cracking with solid/vibration.

Yes, it's a nearly standard bore 3 liter. The F Engine class at Bonneville is a maximum of 3.014L.
Dosent salt like make the steel parts rust
