After having my first beginner tarantula, I realised that (beginner tarantulas specifically), they were like cats. They can hiss at you, they can have attitude, sometimes they're down for attention, other time they're like no, all you really have to do is feed them, give them water, give them a place to live, and give them space when they want it xD
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. I remember when my G. Rosea managed to crawl to in between my shoulder blades, it felt like she was kneading my back to get comfy, kinda like when a cat kneads the surface it's sitting/lying down on, including one's lap. Plus, the claws of a tarantula are retractable. :-)
I've a curly haired tarantula and everyone is scared of him but he's such a sweet boy and has never went into a threat position in the year and a half I have had him. Love your videos
Shy Dragoness Quite frankly, you don't have any right to tell people what to do with their pets. Certain species can be handled, others can't depending on their temperment. As long as they are handled gently then chances are you're not going to hurt them. Either way, people know their pets, and whether or not they can handle them, and how to do it if they can. Telling everyone in the comments section to not handle their tarantulas like you have been makes you look like an asshole. People know what they are getting themselves into when they get a pet; stop talking to them like they're idiots who have no clue what they're doing

I just got myself a tarantula not long ago to get over my fear of spiders. Her name is Artemis and she’s a Mexican Red Knee. She’s awesome and I’ve even gotten the courage to hold her

My old Mexican Red Rump would always web while i held her :) she was super chill, unless she was hungry (then she was PSYCHO). She helped a few of my friends get over their fears of them :)
The thing is: Spiders are always hungry. Unless in premolt. They are known as some of the most ravenous creatures in the world because they could theoretically keep eating til everything was dead: If the limitation of their abdomen being easier to rupture the bigger it was wasn't in place. Also, the more you feed, the faster a tarantula might grow/molt, which means they age faster, and equals them dying sooner.

Cosmockips He said in the beginning of the video that things vary from tarantula to tarantula and that he was just making general statements, so just because that may be the case with some tarantulas doesn’t mean it’s the case with all of them.

Theeeeyyyyyyyyy actually are more like the insect version of cats. I mean. They feel like cats. Some hiss like cats. Some like pets and some decide to nom or attack you if you pet. Yeah cats.

Old world tarantulas (native to old world continents consisting of Asia, Africa, Australia and eastern Europe), have no urticating hairs and therefore are extremely fast and have what we call *medically significant venom*. I forced myself to watch this bc I have a fear of spiders 🙈 but I'm happy for people who like them. Not everyone loves the kind of pets I get so I totally get it.
Autumn Smith lol I did the same thing! I'm an archnaphobe (can't spell it) so I've been trying to introduce myself to these videos to get over it a bit
I remember forcing myself to handle a tarantula back in 2008. Admittedly, it was to try and get a little closer to the lass that owned said tarantula, but at that point, I was terrified of all spiders. As soon as the tarantula was in my hand, I exclaimed "Oh. That's not actually as bad as I thought, and it's got a bit of weight to it.". Since then, I've become more and more respectful of spiders in general.
I was gifted a tarantula, the guy whom he got it from before gifting it to me told him it was a Mexican red knee but it's been 4 years and the tarantula is still dark brown all over. So I'm just here caring for a tarantula that I have no clue the species of 😂😂
"whom he got it from" Where the fuck did you learn English? 'the guy from whom he obtained it" Yes America, whom follows a preposition. "the guy who gave it to me" Who here, since the word guy is not a preposition.
@@lehaniestruwig6758 my Pink Toe isn't aggressive but he runs super fast. They won't bite you but they are super skiddish from what I have seen. Mine is a scaredy cat lol
Dude. People need to chill out. I'm sure Tyler meant that they tolerate handling, not that they enjoy to be held. If you handle them correctly, they will be fine. Of course don't keep them out for hours and hours like you would a beardie or something, but they're not going to up and die if you have them out for 10 seconds. Jeez.
miyoko ishibashi, people act like they have the right to tell others what to do with their pets. If someone actually knows what they're doing, the spider is fine.
The problem is that he isn't handling it correctly in the video. Arizona Blondes stay on the ground so they can't hold on to stuff nearly as well as an aborial tarantula and if it fell off of his elbow it would definifely die and he wouldn't be able to catch it.
everyone saying “oh my god stop handling your tarantula!” It’s kind of common sense that he doesn’t just going around bothering them and handling them everyday. He probably just took it out for this video.
Screw It I Am A Uncicorn he's still showing a huge audience of people who won't know better a huge misrepresentation of keeping a tarantula, handling is the best way to get it killed
Shy Dragoness so ur gonna keep it enclosed its entire life? THATS SICK..... it should be fine if oyu know HOW to handle it to take it out so it can roam around ......!!!!!! jeez
Jessie Belle They don't have any problems being enclosed for their lifetime. In fact, most species don't even benefit from having an enclosure that's too large as it stresses them out. Any handling can stress them out as well. They aren't cats or dogs. They don't crave or benefit from human interaction. Handling them for a short time (depending on the species and particular T) probably wont do any damage but it's not recommended. Terrestrial tarantulas are especially at risk since a small drop has the potential to kill them.
I watch your videos for proper education before I decide on a pet. This video really helped me because I think tarantulas are super cool and I want to give it the best home possible.
4:28 I'm just imagining a spider picking up its legs and getting super sassy: "Whoa there, honey. Don't tell me you're gonna try and pick me up right now."
I love the threatening vibe your little shoulder buddy is giving while you say how great tarantulas are, like there definitely isn't 6 little spider guns pointed at your head the whole time.
I had a rose hair that I rescued after my brother abandoned it in my moms backyard. He was in an aquarium with no lid and it would rain and I worried! My mom wasn’t about to bring it in her house so I went and got “fluffy” and took him home with me! I had him for almost 15 years before he passed away. Absolutely the easiest pet I ever had as far as maintenance
I’m really really scared of spiders I can’t even see a little baby spider without having a panic attack but for some reason I’m able to watch this video without freaking out, great video :)
I would want a tarantula but my whole family (expect dad) hates them and its always like "dad can I get a snake" "if you can take care of it why not ask mom too" "mom can I get a snake" "HEEEELLLLL NAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!" but I am so happy that my mom likes lizards I have a crested gecko named Diego now🤗
Tyler: *You can say, "Hey, I have a tarantula.'"* Me: Hey, I have a tarantula. Friend: *runs out of the room screaming* Me (to my tarantula): looks like it's just you and me.
My husband found one in the yard today, I wanted to keep him but we already fight over my 6 dogs (he wanted none lmao) so we compromised.. I wouldn't let him kill it, he wouldn't let me keep it. So I took it on a walk and freed it on a tree in a big open field away from our house. I was scared of letting him stay roaming in my front yard because if he ended up in my back yard and I let my dogs out they would either end up hurt, he would end up dead, or both! So i gave him a hitchhike ride away from my vicinity since i couldn't take him in and make him his own home lolololol.
I have always loved tarantulas.... beautiful creatures. Absolutely no hate but I was so surprised when I learned that people kept these beautiful animals as pets, I went to the pet store and they had a tarantula for sale... now I really want one, of course captive bred
Can you make a Terrantula care vid plz. I might get one soon but I don't know very much about caring for them so can you plz make a care vid on Terrantulas
I have spider phobia (ok nobody has time to look up how to spell the actual term) YET for some reason I love tarantulas Seriously I see a tiny little spider I'm like CALL THE EXTERMANATOR I see a tarantula I'm like ohhhh a tarantula 😀
Sam Shamalam you'd be surprised what people can and can't spell. I know people that can't even spell words like Twelfth or Italian correctly. Don't assume. It's also an age, ignorance, or learning thing.
I am like the only person in my class who's not scared of tarantulas. I actually love them and completely take advantage of every moment I get to play with them
I hope to try these kinds of pet as I conquer my bug phobia, tarantulas, big moths, jumping spiders.. though that's easier said then done (it's hard to even touch a worm sometimes), the fragileness of these critters is the main thing that sparks my anxiety and I find it very distressing to accidentally harm/crush/damage an insect so I think the phobia stems from something more then just bugs.. but they are lovely! I love their webs and their faces and big ol fuzzy legs
Aww now I want a blonde arizona Tarantula!! It’s so smol and floof :D I love docile pets that people are afraid of, like snakes and now I’m starting to love taruantulas. Super cute and soft :3
Shy Dragoness shut up, dont be a troll, and get off peoples back. If u notice he is not handling the tarantula he s letting it on his shoulder without touching it. You need to chill out.
I've warmed up to tarantulas. I think its because they are fluffy looking unlike spiders that look kinda sharp. Idk but glad I'm not alone in this regard lol. Your tarantula is very pretty and so chill!
Tyler youre the reason i got my first tarantula ! She's a Brazilian black tarantula and shes still a sling and about an 1nch and shes so cute! I just brought her home today and i just wanna thank you for opening my eyes that theyre really beautiful and great pets :3

I know spiders and tarantulas are very different but when I was very little my family lived on a 5 acre piece of land and we would always have like 1 or 2 giant yellow spotted orb weaver spiders and me and my siblings would everyday look for a huge grasshopper together to toss in their giant webs to feed them. Probably wasn't very smart or good for the spiders to eat everyday but no one got hurt we just loved watching them weave their enormous webs all the time.

Same I’ve actually got a fancy rat like right on my night stand next to my head..rats are cute
SAME SAME SAME OMFG
I got my 3 so my son isn't scared of spiders ! It is great to get them if you have kids
I wish I wasn't afraid of them, but I love that some people keep them as pets and appreciate them when others aren't able to.
I was gifted a tarantula, the guy whom he got it from before gifting it to me told him it was a Mexican red knee but it's been 4 years and the tarantula is still dark brown all over. So I'm just here caring for a tarantula that I have no clue the species of 😂😂
This is hilarious xD.
You should try to get some pictures and send it to an arachnologist (if that’s how you spell it). They can probably identify it.
"whom he got it from" Where the fuck did you learn English?
'the guy from whom he obtained it" Yes America, whom follows a preposition.
"the guy who gave it to me" Who here, since the word guy is not a preposition.
@@SpeccyMan ok boomer
Pretty sure it's a north American grizzly bear dude you should really be more observant
Pink Toe tarantulas are the cutest thing ever...
Marlene Augusta : hey but are they just as chilled as this one that tyler has ? And can you tell me a little bit more about that beautiful spider
Lehanie Struwig I just got a Pink Toe and they are super docile and sweet. My spood is very calm.
Oof Rose haired Ts thoooooo they’re so slow and adorable
But Gramostolas can be quite moody. Arizona blondes are known for being very docile.
The real reason why people emphasize NOT handling tarantulas is for risk of falls. Tarantulas would surely die from a fall.
Kelly Harris yes, but the problem is, he doesnt know what he is doing. so for the safety of the spider they say something
everyone saying “oh my god stop handling your tarantula!” It’s kind of common sense that he doesn’t just going around bothering them and handling them everyday.
Jessie Belle They don’t like being held. They prefer to be left alone.
He's also not exactly handling her as you would normally hold a tarantula, he's leaving her balanced precariously on his shoulder. That's not cool.
I watch your videos for proper education before I decide on a pet. This video really helped me because I think tarantulas are super cool and I want to give it the best home possible.

The fact that your baby is just sitting on your shoulder says a lot about their nature. What a cutie!
4:28 I'm just imagining a spider picking up its legs and getting super sassy: "Whoa there, honey. Don't tell me you're gonna try and pick me up right now."
I love that you talk quietly around your pet tarantula, and you know that they have sensitive hearing!
I love the threatening vibe your little shoulder buddy is giving while you say how great tarantulas are, like there definitely isn't 6 little spider guns pointed at your head the whole time.
I'm terrified of spiders for literally no reason. They set off immediate panic in me. But I appreciate them as cool animals
Bowa Wang thats just healthy, its a human natural instinct to protect yourself
"Fun to show to your friends-"
Tyler if my friends knew I owned a 8 legged fuzzy fang carrier they'd never come to my house 😂
The whole time I'm thinking to myself. Wow your teeth are so white!
I know right? He's so adorable ☺️
Same tbh
Steph Giersz ikr! 🙂

@@Anakin_1733 We're not living inside a videogame dude
I had a rose hair that I rescued after my brother abandoned it in my moms backyard. He was in an aquarium with no lid and it would rain and I worried! My mom wasn’t about to bring it in her house so I went and got “fluffy” and took him home with me! I had him for almost 15 years before he passed away. Absolutely the easiest pet I ever had as far as maintenance
Wow what a weird dog
Idk man bee stings hurt
Tyler Rugge can't say I have
Tyler Rugge I’ve been bitten by a macaw multiple times and I’d say bee stings hurt worse.
ThatFishGuy in my experience getting bit by birds hurt way more 😣
A same😭
Tyler Rugge a sun conure bite is a lot more painfull than a bee or arizona blonde tarrantula
I’m really really scared of spiders I can’t even see a little baby spider without having a panic attack but for some reason I’m able to watch this video without freaking out, great video :)
I would want a tarantula but my whole family (expect dad) hates them and its always like "dad can I get a snake" "if you can take care of it why not ask mom too" "mom can I get a snake" "HEEEELLLLL NAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!" but I am so happy that my mom likes lizards I have a crested gecko named Diego now🤗
My whole family hates them too, but my mom also hates reptiles
My parents don’t care as long as I pay for and buy it’s enclosure and care but I don’t have the $$$ 😂
bruh be happy with your crestie
Tyler: *You can say, "Hey, I have a tarantula.'"*
Me: Hey, I have a tarantula.
Friend: *runs out of the room screaming*
Me (to my tarantula): looks like it's just you and me.
This is very interesting.......... you just earned a subscriber
Are tarantulas okay with noise bc I play various instruments so idk if a tarantula is okay wit that cause I wouldn't want to distress them
CritoiYEE they don't have ears so if they are not able to get loud noises. The hair though is sensitive to movement like breathing on them.
Tarantulas are so cute and fuzzy! I want one SO BAD
I just got an ADORABLE baby tarantula for Christmas and I'm already so in love! This was an awesome video! Thank you!
I don't think sitting motionless and ignoring you is how any one else defines being friendly.
I like leg puppies
I have been wanting a tarantula for a year and this video finally persuaded my mum to let me get one . Thank you so much
james headley please don't handle

I have always loved tarantulas.... beautiful creatures. Absolutely no hate but I was so surprised when I learned that people kept these beautiful animals as pets, I went to the pet store and they had a tarantula for sale... now I really want one, of course captive bred
I think all my arachnophobia signs I got just died from existence
Now I’m very confident to get one
I’m from Australia and we have the most dangerous snakes and spiders, so they really don’t bother me in the slightest ahaha. I’ve always loved them!
Strange how the people with a reason to fear spiders don't fear spiders.... XDXDXDXDXDXDXD
Can you make a Terrantula care vid plz. I might get one soon but I don't know very much about caring for them so can you plz make a care vid on Terrantulas

I am like the only person in my class who's not scared of tarantulas. I actually love them and completely take advantage of every moment I get to play with them
I’ve always wanted a tarantula and this was so enlightening. You did an amazing job explaining everything. Thank you for sharing!

That's exact what a tarantula would say
I like how this mans is just chilling on your shoulder the entire video 😂😂😂
I've warmed up to tarantulas. I think its because they are fluffy looking unlike spiders that look kinda sharp. Idk but glad I'm not alone in this regard lol. Your tarantula is very pretty and so chill!
i used to have a fear of spiders, but i have slowly gotten used to them and started to think of wanting one as a pet
Tyler youre the reason i got my first tarantula ! She's a Brazilian black tarantula and shes still a sling and about an 1nch and shes so cute! I just brought her home today and i just wanna thank you for opening my eyes that theyre really beautiful and great pets :3
I noticed you had a TØP poster in the background.
What if I to,d you I was wearing the trench album shirt while I was watching this?
Also, that’s a beautiful parrot.
I think spiders are ok but personally I don't think I'd get one
so beautiful yet so misunderstood..i love my Lil spider.
