I agree, but I’d guess 1/2 of UFC fans don’t pay for the fights anyway. You can always stream it for $1-5 on the pirate streams in 4K. I’ve used those on some of the big fights that I just had to see live. Otherwise, it’s been a couple of years since I’ve rented one on PPV.

Since July 7, 2018, Stipe is 2 - 2.... exactly 6 years today. He's literally fought 4 times in 6 years, and lost half of them. And he was flatlined in his last fight 3 1/2 years ago. Yet he's going to be fighting 4 years after that loss for the belt. Would be funny if this card is a huge loss.

If Stipe beats Jones, He definitely will retire as champ. He's over 40 and his legacy as the greatest heavyweight of all time will be unquestioned at that point. He'd also be the only man to have ever beaten jon Jones. He wouldn't risk all that by taking a rematch with Jones. But Jones on the other hand wouldn't want to go out on a loss. At that point he would definitely take on aspinall for the undisputed world heavyweight championship. I hope Stipe surprises us all and clean Jon's clock!
If Miočić vs Jones happened four years ago I would be hyped as hell but now it is meh. Aspinall vs Jones is logical.

Tom stepped in for STIPE. pavlovich was already the backup fighter if jon or stipe got injured. so pav should have fought stipe. stipe ducked pavlovich and got us in this situation

I’ll break it down. The ufc is falling off, only hardcores care about the next generation. This Izzy dricus fight coming up has no buzz when it should be one of the biggest heated fights ever. Jones does 800k buys, Tom does 50k buys. Simple as that, they are hoping with one last big fight, if it be Conor or jones, it’ll put the ufc back on. Once jones, Conor and all these guys retire, it’s basically over for the ufc, they can’t survive on 50k ppv buys every card. The break even is probably 500k buys and you’ve got a stacked Islam and Dustin card doing just barely 500k

It’s crazy I don’t remember people being this upset when Whittaker got shoved in the corner for Bisping vs GSP to happen. Mind you GSP hadn’t fought in 4 years and was never a middleweight and Bisping had already had one lay up title Defence against 14th ranked Dan Henderson. Just let Jon and Stipe ride out on a big pay day retirement fight. Tom is still getting PPV points as interim champ. This literally isn’t affecting anyone at all besides people who want to see a past prime Jon/Stipe get pummeled by younger prime fighters. What happens if Jon does fight Aspinall and beats him then retires? UFC is stuck trying to promote Aspinall and Gane as the faces of the division.

I'm not a fan of this fight at all, but at the same time giving Stipe a title shot is not something insane in my opinion, and actually kinda make sense from sportsmanship perspective a little bit. I mean, Stipe was a champion with title defence, and he only lost to guy who is not in UFC anymore and who didn't lose his title to anyone. So he is nominally the "best" heavyweight right now. I understand all arguments against it for sure, just wanna say this fight is not completely meaningless

Seems now that Alex Vs Magomed is a must in terms of keeping Alex active until the heavyweight division clears the air. It is pretty sad that the Jones, Stipe, and Aspinall situation has created this dilemma that no matter who wins or loses their fights will possibly be catastrophic in one way or another. Jones losing would destroy the heavyweight division, but I feel that might be worth it if it finally silenced Dana hyper glazing Jones. Both Dana and Jones are just becoming talking heads at this point and we need to see action no matter who it is from. I feel Dana and Jones are becoming like Conor McGregor in terms of talk but no action along with Stipe going along with it all is harming the heavyweight division than even Jones losing to Stipe would ever be. Honestly, if Jones lost to Stipe somehow and someway, it would be almost warranted, because the UFC fan base is almost in unanimous agreement that Dana and Jones are becoming just annoying to hear just to have Jones not fight while he sit ls at the top. Anyone else would have been stripped of the title of it wasn’t Dana covering for Jones. Champs have been stripped for much less in the past. Heck, after Nick Diaz got a 5 year suspension for marijuana while others got way less for actual PEDs, that was all any of us needed to hear to know that even the UFC is bought and paid for.
