@@RegesterForDinner Thanks! Red bell pepper, red onion, habanero, and turmeric. Maybe some celery seed but I havent decided yet. Ill let you know how they turned out in a few days.
I've seen some recipes say you can't use regular table salt. Is it the same with this recipe? I don't have kosher salt, but would love to make this soon.
Damn that crunchy crunch!! Oh by the way, what about pickling hard root vegetables like lotus root? Would you cook the vegetable together with the brine and let it cool together or just put it raw into the jar and soak it with the cooled brine? My concern is that lotus root is a bit hard to chew. Thanks in advance and thank you for making this video!
Thank you for watching! Yes, I would probably cook the root with the brine to help soften it up a bit and make it more tender. Pickled lotus root sounds tasty! Great idea!
You can boil the jar of pickles if you’d like to store it for a long time. However, I don’t cuz these pickles won’t last more than a week in my house haha
Hi. My first time seeing you. Thanks for sharing this. Do you have a recipe for watermelon picked. My mom made them and they were sweet and yummy. But she would never share the recipes. .
Thank you for watching! I’m sure I could make a recipe for pickled watermelon! Honestly the pickle brine in this video would be great for the watermelon because it is sweet and spicy which will compliment the sweetness of the watermelon.
Great recipe man. One question I have, is do you think it would help/hurt the process if I were to use a fermentation lid that allows oxygen out but not into the jar?
Hi!!! This looks perfect for me but I wonder if you can tell me the ingredients and the amounts that I can do this in a ice cream bucket in my refrigerator??????
Oh I found it thank you so much! So do you think it would work to double or triple this recipe and just put it in a big ice cream pail and refrigerate it instead of using glass jars???🤷🏼♀️
@@kyleejune1 I think it is ok to double the recipe, maybe not triple it. I also would not recommend using an ice cream pale. A jar or container with an air tight lid is recommended
@@RegesterForDinner Thanks, that has been my problem with pickles, they always lose their crunch in a few months. I try and picked enough to last until next season.
@@batzzz2044 yes absolutely. The brine is what determines whether they’ll be crunchy or not. If the brine is too hot when you pour it into the jar then it will cook the cucumbers making them soft.

This recipe looks terrific, do you think it would work for hot water canning?
Yes, however it may make the pickles less crunchy. I’m not sure though because I’ve never tried it. Let me know how it turns out!
I have the same question and was wondering if you tried it with hot water canning. Did they lose the crunch?
@@lisafreemartin I haven’t tried this method so I’m unsure if it will affect the crunch of the pickle.

Do you let them sit out for 2-3 days then place in the frig or do you just place in the frig right away and taste them after 3 days?
Place in the fridge for 2-3 days if you plan on eating right away. If not properly seal them in a mason jar and place in your pantry.

@@sehoonkim3655 yes it should
How long does it take a pickle to ferment if placed in the pantry? And how long do they last after that?
If you seal the jar correctly they’ll last for years and it shouldn’t take much more than 48 hours to get to that amazing flavor.

Can you substitute sweetener to something more keto friendly?
Yes you can stevia or swerve if you’d like. The vinegar is the most crucial part for pickling not necessarily the sugar
What’s the name of that knife you’re using?
I’m not sure on the name but you can find it at any Asian grocery store
how long will these last in the fridge
I’d say at least 3 months. I’ve had mine for quite some time and they are still crunchy and delicious as ever!
