After 7 days of various beginner tracks, this was the only one that has me grinning at my phone finally (yeah, it's just a white cube but it's THERE!). Thanks so much!
Thanks for making this - but for the latest builds of Unity and AR Foundation, this is already out of date. AR Origin has been deprecated and replaced by XR Origin. By default, the XR Origin also adds an Audio listener. I am not sure which Unity version they made the change in, but for at least 2022.2.2f1 (not sure when the change happened), the player settings have also changed. *edited to correct info about changes.
Thank you! After following this tutorial and the External link for Android building i was able to get past the black screen in the BG and "App keeps stopping" Along with fixes of the issues i was facing , I learned alot about the fundamentals of setting up a BASE scene to get started with AR in UNITY THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN! 😅 Cheers.
With how much precision can an image be overlayed onto the camera screen? I'd like to make an Android application that can find components from a circuit board. Not sure however if there is a minimum marker size , and if it can be placed with pixel accuracy. For example, if you have a sheet of paper with a grid of squares, say 50x50.. if A4 is said/entered, could AR use a fiducial on the paper to calculate how far into the grid it needs to place a marker (scaling it based on the the angle and how close the camera is to the sheet).
Thank you for such a clear presentation ! I had my AR project working on my iPhone through tutorials such as yours and other Unity sponsored presentations. However, I have not succeeded in doing so on my Galaxy S7 tablet. The device shows up on the Build settings. I have tried as many tutorials as I could find - including yours, which even starts right off with the AR template. I have duplicated every screen on said tutorials (down to every detail - which are not fundamentally different from each other) until I get to the Build - when I see at least 4 errors on the console. I hope you can shed some light on my travails.
Hi, I am using AR Foundation's image targets. When it is tracked, an empty gameObject with a script is created. This script instantiates another gameObject containing the rest of the scene (characters, tables, ...). The reason I'm doing it this way is because once the image is tracked we don't want the models to be linked to it (so that if we stopped looking at the image, the models won't start jittering). When we instantiate the models this way their rotation is towards the AR camera's start position. Even if we set the rotation of the objects to zero, they still face the AR camera's start position. Is the problem with the way we approach instantiating the scene objects if so what is the correct way we should approach this issue? Thanks in advance.
This is a common and known issue in the Unity AR foundation. It will always automatically reorient the object and ignores what you set. The way around this is in the instantiated prefab, set the first object as a plane that is rotated where the image is. Then instantiate the object in reference to the plane that has been set to the image rotation. It is an annoying and unintuitive step, but if you download the Unity samples, this is what they do inside their prefabs. Also, the first prefab reference plane will generally instantiate upsidedown, but once you have the first plane instantiated on the image anything referenced to that will give full position control but you like have to add a 180-degree rotation on one of the axes.
My console keeps saying [13:31:13] Assertion failed on expression: 'SUCCEEDED(hr)'. I followed the steps in this tutorial. Do you have any clue as to why I would be getting this error?
I had to install unity and redirect all the install folders outside C hard drive (because the lack of free space) , could this be a problem for me in the future? Considering the software are downloading and installing so many components. when I was downloading some packages, Unity throw me this: "A meta data file (.meta) exists but its folder 'Packages/com.unity.xr.magicleap/Runtime/Plugins' can't be found, and has been created. Empty directories cannot be stored in version control, so it's assumed that the meta data file is for an empty directory in version control. When moving or deleting folders outside of Unity, please ensure that the corresponding .meta file is moved or deleted along with it." This could be because I assigned other location than the default? should I reinstall? Thanks in advance
I have the black screen error. I tried everything on the internet (yes, the box is ticked in the xr pluggin settings). Please help me. (excellent video)
so far ar part seems working i instantiate a cub when i rotate and move it iteract with it but still have black background cant capture camera even though it have permission
I got an "error" when the build was successful to my mobile device. When I launched my APP, it threw "ERROR: Not enough storage space to install required resources.". What does that mean? I have enough space in my mobile.
I have some errors. Every tutorial I try to follow on AR in unity causes some kind of error that nobody seems to have a solid answer for. I've started fresh and gone step by step, still errors
Hello samyam! could you please update this tutorial to the latest version of unity(22.2.x)? Because this is all deprecated now and there is only one guide on unitys documentation website which i cannot get to work because of strange gradle errors after manually setting up the URP Asset. i do not understand the problem and even their own documentation is deprecated, because these screenshots and names are not exactly what you see in unity. it is really frustrating. I would really appreciate it. Thank you very much for your videos!
This was an ok tutorial, but it has a way too fast tempo, doesn't explain things deeply enough for beginners (at all!) and it is already outdated too, it seems. Some of the info is spread around in other videos and parts of it is shown only for ios, not for androind/windows. Not a good tutorial at all.
I apologize to you I always find your tutorials not good for me . I watched most of your videos . Please forgive me for every bad comment 🙏 i write on your channel.
I'm working on a HUGE game, called 'Buildcraft: AR World' (yes, I have to say build instead of mine, stupid corporate idiots), where you make a Minecraft world, then you get to walk around! Kind of like the discontinued Minecraft Earth, that got shutdown in 2020 due to a non-computer virus.

This was an amazing tutorial. Can't thank you enough for how concise and informative this was. Thank you!
Do keep making tutorials like this. Our thesis project involves AR and you happened to be here at the exact moment.
I have become a channel member and have joined the Discord to get advice on this topic more efficiently.

I solved, was an URP problem, about ar render
@@MetaversoJuliXR how did u solve the problem with the screen just being black and with the ar render?
I was hoping you create AR Foundation tutorials. Today my wish comes true :) especially for iOS
This channel is soo underrated!!😭
This rocks. Thanks for such a clean, concise, and up-to-date tutorial. Subbed and will follow closely!!
Love your tutorials, best way to learn Unity!

Any additional changes needed with "arsessionorigin has been deprecated use xrorign instead" under the arsession object?
thanks you so much for this video
Do you have a tutorial that explains how to put the sample scene game objects and settings into YOUR scene?
Your tutorials are really, really good!
can you make a tutorial for image tracking based AR?

Can you control character animations from unity in xcode, for example idle, talk, and dance? Been having trouble in reality kit.
can we create indoor navigation using AR foundation?
Can I build to iOS with a windows PC? I can't get access to XCode on the PC so was wondering if there's a different approach
hey i need your help i built in ios but my applications camera isnt open i only see my skybox

Same...
What errors?
Hello, I want to know how to obtain xcode for a computer with a window system, and can I only use xcode to connect to ios? THANK YOU!
you cannot build for iOS without a computer with macOS/OSX
I notice there is now XR Origin and it says AR Origin is deprecated.
I dont have just normal "AR Core" mine says "Google ARCore" is there a difference besides just saying Google? Thanks!
Yeah it's the same
@@samyam Thank you!
looks like ARCore no longer supports 32-bit builds and it may cause a game crash, use 64 bit builds

This tutorial is only around 2 months old. What errors are you running into?
Do i need vuforia engine for this? or is it unnecessary anymore?
No thats a different AR framework, you can just use this method
Faanks, quality
I replied to the question about errors twice, but the thread keeps disappearing when I check back in. I guess I must be new to TH-cam commenting.
