    I've had the Circuit a couple of years and love it !! It's a keeper for sure.

    Great review. I have an Ohm 2.0; small freezer ziplock bags are the perfect size to use in the hip belt pockets for waterproofing.

    Best review I've seen to date. My Circuit Xpac is arriving this afternoon.

      Heck yes! The Xpac version looks suuper sick! Be sure to still use a pack liner as the XPAC is great to keep most water out but not all!

    Nice review, but I'm confused as to which shoulder strap I should buy, J or S type. I don't see any reviewers discussing that, nor have I ever seen a picture of the S type. Any feedback would be appreciated.

    • @bushwhackjack1978
      @bushwhackjack1978  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I belive the s type straps are for broader chests (especially women) and the J straps are more for straight torsos!

      @@bushwhackjack1978 I just saw another YT review and that sounds right. I'm still surprised that none of the reviews nor ULA site shows the difference visually.

      I bought the circuit with s straps and I think they’re more comfortable than the j strap. Think of a j strap as a common style backpack strap. Where a s strap is more similar to a running pack. It kind of hugs the body more in my opinion.

    I'm not convinced about pack covers. They really don't keep your pack dry in any but light rain. Use a trash-compactor bag inside the pack to keep your gear dry. A wet pack does weigh more, but at least it will dry quickly if exposed. The new Circuits are available in "X-PAC" material which will not absorb water. It makes the pack close to waterproof, but a trash-compactor bag would still be advisable.
    Nice review.

      Thank you!
      I see what you mean on pack covers, I personally am a fan. Compactor bags are an essential liner for sure!
      That's super exciting new new ones are made with XPAC

    Curious about the size with a Bear Canister? Would it fit in the main compartment? I am searching for a good pack for the JMT in August and few reviews address bear canisters. I have narrowed my search to the ULA Circuit and the Z packs Arc Haul. Like the price tag on the ULA better, but still undecided. A BV 500 is a huge canister and I don't like to keep my food on the top of the pack exposed to sun and heat.

    • @bushwhackjack1978
      @bushwhackjack1978  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! The ULA Circuit can absolutely accomodate a bear canister. If you want to have it shaded underneath the ripstop nylon you should absolutely have room in the pack! If you see near the beginning of the video, there is ample room that the ULA Circuit rolls up to.

    Is this the current model? I have not seen a circuit with the b side pockets made of mesh.
    Q2, I'm also a so cal backpacker so we probably see the same conditions. Do. You think the pack is to. Big for overnighters? Looking.to.get a pack that can do overnighters, but expand for Sierra trips. Of course our gear would be different and make a difference. Thanks

    • @bushwhackjack1978
      @bushwhackjack1978  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      David David hi there David!
      This is an older model but the newer models do still have the mesh!
      This is a PERFECT pack for overnight trips. I’ve done 4 trips with it so far and it’s terrific.
      For Sierra trips, just make sure to pack a pack cover for unexpected rain! I’d even use a trash compactor bag as a pack liner too.
      Hope you get some fun trips in!

      @twigg2324 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Overnighters? That is one of the most popular packs for "Thru-hikers", so yeah, it'll cope with your overnight.

    • @TMNT3388
      @TMNT3388 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@twigg2324 obviously, we know the circuits reputation as a thru hike champion. My question is it it to big for so cal overnights. You don't have to reply

    • @twigg2324
      @twigg2324 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TMNT3388 With the Circuit, while it is listed at 68L, much of that capacity is in the external pockets. The main compartment is closer to 45L.
      I have the Circuit, my wife has the Ohm. We find them perfect for overnight trips. Honestly though, you don't take much less for an overnight than you would on a longer trip. Food is the main thing, but at around 1 1/2 lbs of food per day, there's not much in it.

      @@twigg2324 thanks for the feedback. Load out is so subject because of gear, but the "assumption" was anyone looking at a ula pack has already begun the journey of lightning their gear. Which i started. So my stuff is pretty low volume. You being in so Cal like me I presume we see the same weather conditions so our gear might be about the same. Thanks again! Now trying to decide on the cool colors or og green.
