    Wow awesome that you are back there man. We are actually looking at going to either Himachal Pradesh, uttarakhand, ladakh sometime next year. Want to see how the Himalayan region is there since Nepal now makes it mandatory to have a guide hiking there. Gabe in Greece and India are my favorite vids 🇮🇳 🇬🇷 ❤

    McLeod Ganj looks like an amazing town with great friendly people. Imagine doing a meditation class at the Dalai Lama’s palace, that would be an experience. Lots of quaint streets and lanes to explore, and so cheap. I know you have been there before but thank you for revisiting and showing your newer viewers this amazing part of the world. Made it to Mcleod an hr ago. Most epic bus journey I have ever done. Took 5 different local buses from Kasol and one shared jeep to get to Mcleod. Kasol>Bhuntar>kullu>palampur>Dharamsala>Mcleod. Some amazing views along the way. Wow what a journey! Left at 7am and arrived at 7pm.

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Right on man, that's the real deal for sure. And I'm sure it only cost a few bucks altogether. Any idea where you will go next from there? I can't think of any suggestions as far as somewhere good to stop that's on the way to somewhere else. Might be a matter of catching a flight or a long train journey to somewhere a ways away. The closest places I can think of in that part of India that are worth visiting are Amritsar and Srinagar, Kashmir. If you head to Rajasthan I definitely recommend Pushkar.

    • @bartonsky
      @bartonsky 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GabrielTravelerVideosthank you. Yeah think my long rides are mostly over for this trip. Planning taking a flight to Jaipur and then staying in pushkar for a few nights then fly to Goa and maybe check out another place around there and then circle back and fly to Delhi and stay in a different area and check out for a day or 2 and fly out from there. Haven’t decided where yet, maybe try and hit Eastern Europe again.

    • @bartonsky

      @@GabrielTravelerVideosthank you for all the help. Plan on doing the Triund Trek today or tomorrow. Just need to switch hotels first. If I remember the prices: from Kasol to Bhuntar 20, Bhuntar to Kullu 85, Kullu to Palampur 350, palampur to Dharamshala 75, shared packed jeep to Mcleod 30. So all in: 560 or $6.7 usd. If I could only get normal taxis at good rates here haha.

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos

      @@bartonsky Right on, that sounds like a good plan. Arambol is the main cool party scene in Goa as you may know. But if you want to be somewhere quieter then I recommend Palolem, Patnem and Agonda. And even better is Gokarna further south in Karnataka.

    • @bartonsky
      @bartonsky 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GabrielTravelerVideosthank you for the tips. I don’t know anything about Goa so that is helpful. I’ll be heading to the quieter area then. Thank you. Just did the Triund hike. A lot more people than the one in Manali but the views at the top were amazing. Perfect sunny day. Apparently if you bring camping equipment you can hike up further and sleep up there. That sure would be cool to do someday. Thank you for the hike recommendation 👍.

    Hi Gabriel, I'm wondering if is this the place where they have skirmishes with China and India border which back in 50's, or 60's England created a border between the two countries guessing between McLeod Ganji, India and China Border many stick fights have happened over the years. This area very much looks commerical in could see where many different businesses are sort of like Katmandu but a bit more relaxing look forward to seeing you on a trekk around the Himalayas.

      @alpovratia6488 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes-ji, McLeod is still interesting and great for brief visits, restaurants, shopping, Dharma contacts, etc., and a good staging place for further trekking and travels. But it's topographically tough (narrow lanes, steep inclines), and nowadays congested, over-developed and over-commercialized. Prices and polllution have increased. It would be good if some areas were off limits for car traffic. Between 1991 - 95 I lived in Dharamsala (mostly Tibetan Library and Kotwali Bazaar areas), and it was enjoyable and less hectic to visit Upper Dharamsala (McLeod, etc.). For a peaceful life and spiritual pursuits in Himachal other settlements or places might be more suitable. I lived in Bir between 1995 - 98, and since then have revisited India a few times. Ge'o!
