Hiking with gators (Everglades)

- I know this video is a little different from my previous ones; however, when Zatara is docked near the Everglades and I'm at home just editing, you know a trip has to happen (me and editing have a love/hate relationship, right now there's a little more hate going on). Finn and I dove into the swamp for 3 days and 2 nights, starting at the southern terminus of the Florida Trail. Neither of us has ever experienced anything like this before, so watch until the end to see if we finish... ooo scary haha. There's also an extended cut right at the very end of the video, so stay tuned all the way through!

I am still curious about the gear you found... or was it just a joke that I didn´t get? Lol... BTW, I love watching your videos and this was a great one. The fun part is that I had already watched Finn´s video and, even though it iw about the exact same thing, the way you two edit and show things doesn´t make it repetitive at all.
I totally forgot to add what happened to that person at the end😬We called the number when we got back to the boat and found out that the guy whose gear that was had Rhabdomyolysis and had to be airlifted out of camp. He had to leave all his stuff at camp, and he can't come back to get it.
Enjoyed your video. You and finn should start traveling around the country backpacking and making videos. You two make a great team...... You would be very very successful
they are hosting a Costa Rica travel :)
That's the plan for summer!
Yep. I watched till the end. And yes I want ice cream. Great vid!
You are building an impressive resume of outdoor skills. You have a lot going on for a young person. Also, Finn has a wonderful, hearty laugh; I love it.
I think these skills will come in handy one day...I hope haha
Very cool "adventure" . . one more thing you two can check off your bucket list.
So. Did you ever find out about the missing hiker?
Love this, Luke - big fan, keep just being you that's why we are here.
You two boys are so much fun to watch, when you all are together filming, I laugh almost the entire time watching you both. Another great video as usual
Attention to detail can save lives, relationships, and Moms. Don't forget her tomorrow!!!!!
you should take postexposure parasitic or any prophylaxis meds just to be safe
So much humility from both of you! Excellent video and thank you!
Man I'd love to see you guys try the Barkley Marathon. If you haven't heard of it, check it out here on TH-cam, there are quite a few videos on people attempting it. It's an ever-changing course through a mountain trail. Very grueling, but an amazing experience from what I hear.
I've been wanting to run a marathon for a video however, through the mountains sounds insane
Hey Luke, thanks for taking us along, glad you and Finn didn't get ate out there! Can't wait for the next adventure.
Excellent job Luke….with assistance from Finn
Great video Luke! It looked like all your training on the AT with Troop 24 paid off!
ha who is this? Backpacking in Boy Scouts definitely prepared me for this
Would love more gear breakdowns and insights!
DO MORE GEAR REVIEWS!!
Big yes for gear reviews.
Great video Luke but you couldn’t pay me to do that.
gear is good. do reviews:P
Should have worn water moccasins, I'm just sayin' ...........
Great video! I hate even getting my socks a little wet let alone both shoes and socks soaking wet!! You guys did great out there. LOVED the Superman at 16:26!!! How did he do that???
HA he almost fell out the first time. He just wedged his feet under the drivers seat
Dude, I ain't hiking with water moccasins! 😳
They definitely aren't that friendly
An adventure neither one of you will ever forget. You guys definitely have a great friendship. Maybe once he starts doing his van life travels you can join him along the way at some point.
Get up in the mountains and do some backpacking there. That cold weather sleeping bag would come in handy then.
If all goes to plan we'll have some amazing adventures up North soon
This is a wonderful video. Thanks for sharing fellas!! Keep up the good work Luke!
You guys are sick!! I hope I get to do stuff like this when I’m old enough to travel alone
Finn must always be thirsty cause everytime there's a vid he's always got his tongue hangin out 🤣.
you guys should visit Natural Bridge area in Kentucky, lots of different things to see, be safe and do not drink dirty water.
The part at the end where you showed all your gear is very interesting. I did kind of wonder what you did when you needed a bathroom.
Wow! Great video bro!! I can’t believe you hiked that trail. Boy Scouts trained you well. 💗
Wow Luke, you did a great job with the music for this video. Definitely set the mood for the scenes!
Making fire should be prohibited
Making a mental note of where yall go- the vibes are immaculate
OMG! Are there no gators? That's crazy!
8:28 you guys need to stop smoking weed bro hahahahah jk
Great video Luke Please keep posting I have just hiked the everglades through you, PS loved the pack tour at the end.
Luke, keep up the great stuff 🎉 the music at the end, need a bit more music, less gear review 😂
And you can buy water filters for your water bottle.
Shorts, no socks and quick dry shoes. You also need a minute to massage each other's shoulders. 🥴👍
Great editing on this one!
GREAT video, Luke! Thank you... I thought the videography was first class!
you should go do van life with Finn. The two of you are funny
Luke! That was epic. So fun to see you guys bonding on the trail. I would like to see more detail on what you carry. That was really interesting. I’m getting ready to go to Europe with just a carry-on and I’m typically an over. Packer. Used to be an avid backpacker in my day when I was your age. As Finn’s grandma at 67 don’t backpack anymore but you never know you guys got some great videos wondering how you did it all glad you came out with no snake bites or alligator bites Thank you so much. Really appreciate it. Love to both of you. Also, your grandma LIZ from Mountain California.💜🤟🏻😎🎒🐊🐬🇺🇸
the thought of the gators would scare me, but the cotton mouths even more so as I've come close to those mean ones before
Hike in the grand Teton
Please please start doing gear reviews
Finn’s dogs 😭😭😭😭🤣
Thank you for sharing. I am looking forward to the next chapters of your life story. You are an amazing young man with a bright future. Hot, muddy, exhaustive, mosquitos, looks like a fun afternoon - NOT. I’d have worn a camel pack filled with ice
it’s sketchy to drink that water
Boots, Boys, Boots! Knee high boots.
Thanks!
WOW thank you SO MUCH! You just covered our food expense out on the trail🫶
Gear review top tier, keep it up!
We care Luke! We care....
Not gonna lie, I had anxiety wondering about alligators!
16:28 😂😂😂 love it
why would finn just wore shorts🤦🏻♀️🙄🤣🤷🏻♀️
crazy, crazy boy
The band Phish held the biggest NYE celebration in the world at Big Cypress. That was 1999 going into 2000....so millenium bash. Unfortunately i did not go, although i live in South FL. Have fun everyone
In the woods? Thats crazy
Great video!
crocrodiles?
Gear review 👍
I’ve spent a lifetime backpacking, so I liked the gear review, and glad y’all enjoyed it. I would have been worried about snakes and gators. How did you get around the water moccasin? Aren’t you concerned being that close to gators unprotected? Last question, see any pythons? Hope y’all have more adventures together. Have you done any of the AT?
We had to go off trail a little around the snakes, not to bad . Being near that gator was pretty scary because it could move a lot faster than us there. Sadly, we didn't spot any pythons; they're super good at hiding. I've hiked through all of Georgia and North Carolina on the AT, and even some of South Carolina. Maybe one day, I'll tackle the whole trail!
Good job great ending with the Ice cream sammy. Also Reach out to the freeze dried company for the food that went bad. Im sure they will work with you a refund and because you didnt Roast themmmm. this is a great opportunity to build a better relationship??? #mountain house just do better yall and work with these awesome people.
Ooo that would be a cool partnership
I actually enjoyed the added segment. I am curious about the freeze dried food that went bad. Was it expired or do you think the heat and humidity caused it? I’m trying out different freeze dried foods and everything that I’ve read says it has to be kept in cool dry places for storage. But I didn’t think it would go bad after a day or two of exposure to heat.
I’m also going to look up that jet boil!!!
Before the trip, I kept them in my hot car so I think they went bad there
No No,do not be lazy we want more of your adventures or what ever you do,we enjoy and like you,do not be a spoilsport.
I love this comment! Keep on me I need the motivation loll
Surely there are some sort of waterproof boots for this type of hiking.
Nope, because once those get water in them, they would become weights.
Excellent video. Although I had watched Finn’s video and knew you guys survived my heart was still pounding!
Ahh I know he's quick with getting videos out
14:10 Finn became an Englishman and Luke Texan😂
😂
Always pack extra food.....always. I love the Everglades it's nature at it's finest.
Holy thumbnail my dude. Congrats on your progress!
You boys are braver than I am. I like nature but the thought of Florida nature scares the hell out of me. Then again I was raised in the mountains of PA. Finns legs look like tree trunks.😄 And you never explained how you got passed the cotton mouth and the gator!!!
I said the same thing about his legs lol. To avoid the wildlife we just went off trail around them which was a little sketch
@@lukebosworth_ Seriously! When you go off the beaten trail for any reason, you're almost as susceptible! Maybe the ones in front of you were just decoys??? No, I'll never hike in the magnificent state of Florida. Way too many reasons to fear the reality. I'll stick with my chances in the great state of Pennsylvania.😁
Those Air plants are amazing! definitely show us your pack and maybe what you forgot and what you could have used.
A fantastic adventure / hike Luke. You and Finn should record more of these hiking adventures. Hi from Australia.
Those shoes look like the ones I have (when I wear shoes), known as ‘barefoot shoes’ - wide toebox and zero drop. Has cured a lot of back, leg, and foot problems for me. Live the adventures while you’re young! Although I’d not have done it with gators, snappers, and I hate skeeters LOL.
That was awesome! I had no idea you could trek through the Everglades..
You two are fantastic friends and you've got to go travelling together, the videos would be fantastic. I love your videos and to see the pair of you enjoying yourselves so much, keep the videos coming.
Seems like an awesome experience and I love hiking but I can't imagine hiking in the swamp enjoyable but you got some good content anyway best wishes and good health👍👍
You are doing great Luke. You're getting better with each video. I know that you hear that a lot, knowing though if you're improving is a big help.
Keep doing what you've been doing and you will be alright.
A tip. If you haven't done something before, not only check out videos. More importantly talk face to face with someone who has done what you're about to do. That personal experience being told first hand is invaluable.
I really love your videos. You and Finn are hilarious and I hope you and Finn team up for the van adventures.
I enjoyed your video I watched till the end 👍🏼
We already saw this
Well, me and Finn did the same hike so it's hard to make it all that different. I tried though🥲
Brothers from other mothers! You two are so joyous together!
Dude, you homies are crazy.
Nicely done Luke! Time for Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim! It feels like murder but the end is so satisfying! Jump in Finns Westfalia and ROADTRIP BABY!!!
YES
Great vid, Luke! You guys, your adventure adrenaline rush quest: It makes my 64 year old heart sing! 45 years ago was my 1st Big Multi-Hike summer. My last wilderness backpack adventure was 10 years ago. Gear has changed A LOT over the decades. I remember lugging 11 lbs. of camera gear. In the early days, 5 nights in the "out there" back country started with 45-47 lbs. My last Desert Southwest hiking gear was only 38 lbs. & it looked much the same as yours'. ( @16.00, post hike pizza! Yes! Our custom was always a steak house or pizza joint for 1st supper after the hike.) Thanks for the great entertainment!
Pizza tastes like heaven after a backpacking trip
Such an adventure,,,
love the gear reviews!!
The extended footage compelled me to subscribe.
Thanks!
Excellent video!
Please post sooner. Finns video has been out a couple of weeks already so yours kinda gets lost in old news. :(
I need an editor
Luke!!!!!!!
👍👍👍👍 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Mosquitos?
nice
❤
What a cute couple :)
I love watching all the Zatara "extended family's" adventures. You and Finn are very entertaining together! I really enjoyed the video! Hoping you start posting more consistently cause you definitely have a talent for this (in front of camera and behind it). Loved it!!
No chance in hell I’d sleep and hike with all those S-words around. 😮
