I've lived in Shelbyville, Tennessee for over 25 years. Had no idea about either Dr. Key or Jim until i came across this doc some time ago. I'm now almost 41. No one I've ever met around here, no matter the age, has heard of them either (of the folks I've asked, that is). Dr Key is indeed buried in the cemetery on Lane Parkway, the grave is fairly easy to find. Jim is buried at the back of someone's property on the left almost as soon as you make the turn onto Himesville Rd from Old Tullahoma Highway. If you pass New Hope Rd you've gone too far (it's the road right before, assuming you're coming from Shelbyville). Thank you, Mr. Skinner, for bringing to life this grand tale once again. God Bless You. Edit: Also, Shelbyville Is the "Walking Horse capital of the world". Not sure where the race horse info came from, but it's incorrect.
😢 such a beautifully told story ❤ I wish i were so talented & especially loved. 😔 My love to you, Beautiful Jim ❤ I'm glad life was better to you❤ love forever
Simply wonderful Mr Skinner! What a lovely story that proves love will always overcome unkindness. It was great to be able to hear about the beautiful Jim Key and those who cared for him. Again thank you
A Real Americana Story From Our Past! David Hoffman, A Filmmaker who ALSO has a video on his channel of Jim Key as well....his video is called "Beautiful Jim Key: The World's Smartest Horse"...and his journey into discovering The Wonderful Story is well worth the "trip" to his channel. A wonderful job as always Mr. Skinner in telling this story as only you can do! Thank you for sharing this with your Fans! Cheers From Ohio
I've known of the history about Jim Key, the world's smartest horse, and you do such an awesome job telling it, like all the others that you've done! Worth the share too! 🐎💕
Ok I have to admit I was not going to watch this one since I am not really interested in any smart horses but I am glad I did. This was a fascinating video. Thank you Jerry for your amazing story telling and all of the hard work that you do researching your videos.
It's slightly different from David Hoffman's video on the subject. That one claims he earned money playing cards to buy the Key home and other businesses
What a wonderful video and tribute to a real hero and friend. And I am speaking about Dr. Key. Beautiful Jim was a very fortunate horse to have suck a caring and loving owner who knew how to train without pain and brutality towards animals. I wish the people who mistreat animals could be treated likewise!!!
What an incredible, lovely, uplifting story! I did not know anything about Jim Key at all. So glad to have you tell us the story in your own unique way with that special southern charm! Thank you Jerry!
Thank you again Jerry. What an amazing story about Jim Key. I have always been kind to animals and took this story very close to,my heart. I always said, I think I love animals more than some people. They are nonjudgmental and full of love. Thank you for this documentary, please keep em coming Jerry. Stay well, Augie and Jill Blase 🤠
What a magnificent story. Thank you for sharing it. I had a connection with my first horse like this. I love that horse. I have 6 right now. Very young, looking forward to working with them all.
oh so beautiful story I have to cry thank you very much MR.Jerry Skinner and happy Christmas and a New Years to all your Family and Good Bye see you next Years.
Jerry, I've watched many of your videos but this one was the most heart warming! Thank you for sharing. Everyone should know about this wonderful man and his equine friend.
Wow thank you Mr skinner. This is so true that kindness can create miracles. This man knew it before science proved it. The end made me cry as I've spent the last 20 years rescuing injured animals didn't matter what kind placing them in homes after they've had what we call affection therapy and seeing their lives Blossom has been the greatest gift.
Your story about the fine Doctor Key and "wonderful Jim Key" brought me joy. Very sweet an tender I love people that love animals. Sad all the bad luck with his wives. God has a special place for people like Dr. Key. Thanks Jerry.
What a beautiful story of a man and his friend; Yes, I too believe in being kind to animals, when I hear such terrible stories of animal abuse and cruelty, I will chose to remember Dr. Key and Beautiful Jim Key. Thank you so much Mr. Skinner for sharing this true story with me. ( US)
WOW!!! Thank you, Jerry, for another outstanding video! I've been wanting to go along on one of your road trips for a while, and this came at just the right time.
Spent many an hour on The Natchez Trace between Natchez Jackson and Vicksburg in my Wilder years.. Great as usual Mr.Skinner MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOURS Mr.Skinner
This video was especially touching. I had a wonderful, wonderful horse Axel who was as smart as any dog I ever knew. He was incredibly beautiful too. He died almost one year ago. Dec 22.
*WONDERFUL, Jerry, as always!* I really love watching your videos for us. I'm moving up to age 70 shortly and I remember many of these actors in black and white (which is what all we had on our TVs, to you young-uns!) and your knowledge about all things Hollywood is amazing! Thank you again, Jerry, for this particular video. Big love to you, sir!
Great video Mr. Skinner. Love watching your channel and really enjoy watching your videos. I have always found your stories very interesting and informative.
Mr Skinner thank you so much for the time you put in to good honest quality biographies of Jim and others who deserve honest narratives of there lives and times. Reminding us of truly decent beings who have had a good impact on all of us .
It is said that...Horses are Noble animals....I truly be believe that is the case...Thais a beautiful video Jerry...Thanks my friend for all of the work you do bring things to the for front such as this...!
You Mr Skinner are my modern History Channel, Discovery Channel... Documentaries as they are supposed to be made. Thank you very much for your time and effort to give us these amazing stories. I wish you all the best and happy holidays. Božo from Croatia.
This is an incredible story of kindness to animals and the love they return to their human. I’ve never heard of this horse until this day, thank you for telling this story. The next step of honoring this horse and his human is to make a movie of this incredible story! Needs to be made! ❤️❤️
I had heard about this story but was so glad to see that you, Jerry, made a video of it because I knew you would get more of the details and put it all together beautifully! Thank you! It's such a lovely story but I wonder why so many of William's wives died young! How sad!
What a great story. And it took only 17 minutes. I knew it would be impossible to stop the video when I pushed the start button because it was from Jerry. You found your calling in life like Jim Key did.
This is the coolest story I've ever heard involving an animal! Absolutely incredible and told by the smooth voice Mr Skinner,as always an excellent job! Thank you thank you Jerry!
Once again a fantastic story by Mr Skinner, been with Jerry for years now and still my favourite channel, often repeating a video to help me rest. It is understood by tests done later on in life the horse could tell the slight differences in Dr Keys voice as he approached the correct letters or numbers to choose. Whilst this was unknown to Dr Keys at the time nor did he realise his tones slightly changed in anticipation of the correct letter umber chosen, tests carried out with alternatives the horse did not get any answers correct. This is when Dr Keys stopped. But still incredibly intelligent for any animal.
...and we all thought that Roy Rogers "Trigger" ........ and The Lone Rangers "Silver" were GOOD....WOW! :) What a great story and an amazing horse. Thank you Mr. Jim, You DID it again Partner!! :) Herb (Im STILL in Texas, and yes, Ive been leaving here for Mississippi since 1974, but I just cant get it all started! LOL) :)
What a beautiful horse. I would love to know why William Key didn't use Jim for stud, since he was so smart. Not surprised to hear this, horses are very smart, and my dad always said how intelligent Arabian horses are. Thank you for sharing this.
Mr. Skinner, this is an absolutely wonderful story and I thank you for your creativity, your heart, and YOUR kindness in it’s excellent telling. My grandparents generation would have known of this remarkable horse and his remarkable people, I wish they were still around so I could ask them about it....but your video story is ‘good as gold’....thank you!
What a beautiful story with "kindness" woven all the way through. Amazing fun uplifting story just what I need in a age of chaos and deceit. Made my day. 😊😊
Quite interesting Mr. Jerry, I had not heard of Jim Key before. Thank you so Much. You should check out the Nettleton Hunting and Fishing Association. Oldest Hunting Club in Ms. owned by the Share Holders. Along the Old Tombigbee River. Some history there.
This touched my heart so much. Myself being an African-American, I've never heard of this man or this horse but hearing of their story just goes to show that there were so many things that African-Americans did that they never truly were remembered and honored for. And as I've said before your voice is so calming I could just listen to you. I wish my mother had your voice when she used to read me bedtime stories as a kid. Thank you for your very thorough and in-depth research on this guy. I never would have known who he was or his wonderful horse if it wasn't for you❤

How wonderful. Why hasn’t this inspiring story ever been immortalized? It would make a great family film.
Maybe they can't find a horse smart enough to play Jim. 😉

As usual, Jerry presented this video with professionalism and his customary empathy. Outstanding presentation.
Kindness always pays off. Thank you, Mr Skinner, for a very heartwarming story.

Yes it makes me wonder.

What a wonderful story! Jerry Skinner is a master story teller.
Amazing documentary!
So many wives and no mention of children. Curious about that. The Dr. was a remarkable man.
He sure was very special.
Lets investigate that? could it be the Liniment? or the sisters?
he slept in with the horse
