AMAZING VIDEO! Loved the music. One of the better vids outlining the Karakoram range on you tube. Can't wait to watch your Everest trek video. Thanks for uploading.
K2 is the true King of the mountains. It looks like the big brother of the Matterhorn. Forget Everest, K2 is the King of the world. I love this beautyful beautyful mountain to bits. It has so much pride ... wow
This is a reply to some comments on the music on this video. This is an amateur video made for the enjoyment of creating it and shared for free. It was not made by a commercial company who can pay a composer and musicians to create a custom score. Neither do I want to include music in breach of other people’s copyright. The music was therefor chosen from a limited selection I was able to find on web which the creators have generously allowed to be used free of charge. Only a small fraction of this came anywhere close to matching the mood created by different portions of the trip which I wanted to pass on. Only a fraction of that was music I liked. From this comes the chances that you might like the music as well.
+Stephen Slater DEAR ,,,, don't take on nerves ... imp is u did ur effort and a really a nice and well portrayed effort . let the loosers show their sick mentality . u did a great job. appreciated.
This is Beautiful! Just can't say enough or anything in regard of your experience and then generously sharing that with us. Thank you ! How long it took you from Skardu to Askole where you set the first camp? I'm planning to go for a camp there as well. It's such an amazing video and view to see through your eyes.
Thanks. According to my notes, Skardu to Askole in the four wheel drive vehicles took us from 6:00am - 12:45pm. Good luck with your trip. I think you’ll find it’s an amazing area.
Those mountains and the contrast between the lower and upper levels is incredible. For those who like to build and work with stones, this place looks like a paradise of stones.
Who cares ? The most important is not the music or the "beauty" of the video ! The most important is what you achieved and you take time to share it, well done! I am impressed. Others spend €€€ on video editing to boost their views on youtube with a poor subject and they're happy sitting-in their chair counting the thumbs-up, fantastic !
Thank you Stephen for sharing the experience, putting together & posting this video.. and undertaking this strenuous trek. I've been planning to go on this trek for a year or so but have not been able to convince any friend to go along. Great video.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful memory Stephan. I am from the area and have done this trek for 5 times. Your video encourages me to go to Concordia again after almost 6 years of living in the Arabian deserts. Thumbs up
Wow, I can only imagine how amazing it felt to see such beautiful areas in person. Its all breathtaking! This looks like an adventure of a lifetime, thank you sharing your experience with us!
Great video and it brought back many memories. I did a version of this in 2006, also organised by KE and Ade Summers, who you see here, was our leader. By far the best trek and climbing trip I have ever been on. We started however at Hushe, headed to Masherbrum base camp and towards K6 &7 to acclimatise, then climbed the Gondora La at night to see K2, Broad Peak and the Gasherbrums at dawn from the summit, then to Concordia and followed your route out to Askole. I highly recommend it, but beware the Gondora La is difficult and can be dangerous.
I did consider the Gondogoro La route, but it requires using ice axe and crampons for the pass crossing. I've tried 2 or 3 treks using crampons and decided walking roped up to others and having to walk at the pace of others isn't for me. I'd love to do another walking trip in that area though.
Its really amazing and breathtaking place i am from northern areas sawat but I didn't know that we have some places like paradise on earth. Thank you so much for sharing with us
Amazing photos, of an amazing trip to an amazing place. Good job, i would've liked a bit more commentry/subtitles though about what you guys were going through. I actually like the music. Great video, captured me.
I thought the music was fine. If you You-Tube trolls didn't like the music.....don't watch it,jerks!!! Awesome footage of the region! Hope to be there one day. Thanks & be safe out there.
Kudos, great video. Brings back great memories for me. I was there the same time as your group, I figure I was 1 day ahead of you so I met some of your group on that dreary day at Concordia. It was a thrill picking out my tent in your Concordia shots
Miles don’t mean much in mountain terrain. Better to consider times. These were what we did over 12 days: Askole to Jula: 6:35am - 2:10pm Jula to Paiju : 6:30am - 2:05pm Paiju - trail above river: 9:45am - 12:30pm Paiju to Horbose: 6:40am - 1:40pm Horbose to Urdokas: 6:40am - 10:15am Urdokas to Goro II: 6:40am - 1:00pm Goro II to Concordia: 6:40am - 12:00pm Broad Peak and K2 Basecamps: 8:00am - 6:30pm Concordia to Goro I: 7:40am - 2:40pm Goro I to Horbose: 6:45am - 1:55pm Horbose to Paiju: 6:40am - 12:45pm Paiju to Jula: 6:40am - 1:20pm We just carried what we needed during the day in our own back pack (extra layers, waterproofs, water, camera, sun block, first aid kit). We had porters who carried our kit bags (max 12.5 kgs) plus tents, food etc.
+Fawad Shah I presume you are asking about zooming on the still photos. In most video editing software, when using a still photo, you can select two or more rectangular boxes within the photo and the computer makes video frames gradually moving from one to the next. So for example if I select a small box at the left of the photo and a bigger box further right, the computer will make video that zooms out and moves to the right. I hope I understood your question correctly. If this was not what you were asking, please ask again.
Its really very good video in which all info and details have been described including some world`s highest peaks. It was more informative if you have mentioned time of hiking from one destination to other every day. Like how many hours you have hiked from Concordia to Guru1
Thanks. In some of my more recent videos I have included walking times each day. For this one, to follow up on your suggestion, I have just added the walking times from my old notes to the description text.
Personally I only tend to use hiking poles when I expect the terrain to be especially slippery due to mud or snow. The UIAA have produced a series of consensus statements from medical experts on various aspects of hill walking and mountaineering, including one on the use of hiking sticks. You can download them from the BMC web site. Look under walking then medical. Here’s the link for the hiking sticks one: www.thebmc.co.uk/Download.aspx?id=470

None. There are fixed camp sites, mostly with toilets. I seem to remember a semi-permanent tent serving food near the Broad Peak base camp on the way to K2 base camp. At least this was the case when I went in 2012.
Great video ... I am going next year! Thanks for taking the time to point out the peaks and elevations ... made the vid for me. Good camera work too ... what camera did you use please?
Hey, how long is the drive on that N35 Karakoram Highway ? and how long does it take to trek from where the jeep stops to K2 bace camp? and can you go from the base camp all the way to K2 and touch it? thank you

What if we put thermonuclear weapon inside this freaking mountain and have fun what would happen will it be rip apart, shetered or just a little impact? Whats ur think
Pakistan tested its nuclear weapon inside a mountain in Balochistan. Colour of the mountain changed with dust coming out. Check out the video and you will see.
Thanks for the video. It has the best video clarity/fidelity I've ever seen of these mountains. Also, thanks for naming the mountains. What video gear did you use? Do you have any advice based on your experience, something you wish you knew prior to going?
Both video and stills were taken with my Sony Alpha SLT-A55VL. This has an electronic viewfinder to see exactly what I’m taking even in bright light plus a fold down screen to take occasional glances at while walking along. HD video and SLR quality lenses give reasonable quality. Advice? Glad you liked it. Thanks. Looks like I paid £2850 covering almost everything including flight from UK but not insurance, visa or local extras like snacks and tips. It was booked through KE Adventure Travel. My understanding was that since they run trips regularly they have a rescue deposit covering multiple people permanently in the bank account of the Pakistan air force, with having insurance to cover repaying this a condition of booking with them.
Easily the best Concordia trek vid on the web so far. Great combo of stills and amazing HD vid. What was the total cost of that adventure? Does that include the "helicopter rescue" deposit?
J was in this beautiful place in year 2001. In this year , j was in Boltoro glacier until base camp K2. Pakistan is a wondeful country.and j also visited the Faisal masjid in Islamabad.
Spectacular viewing provided one switches off the music which has no place amongst this pristine beauty. The natural sounds would have sufficed. A commentary would have helped. But a superb video nonetheless.
The local Pakistani guides told us this was K2. If you compare the outline of the rock and shape of the snow areas with the western face to the left of the summit as shown in closer shots of K2 from Concordia, these match. The shot was taken from coordinates 35°40'6.029" N 76°6'34.949" E 3417.1 m recorded as a GPS geotag with the photo. If you put this position into Google Earth and rotate the view to look east then it shows the summit of K2 with similar foreground.
Here is the trip website: www.keadventure.com/holidays/pakistan-karakoram-trekking-k2-concordia $3,200 includes 15 nights camping, 5 nights hotel and all meals. Averages about $160 per day for 20 days.
AMAZING VIDEO! Loved the music. One of the better vids outlining the Karakoram range on you tube. Can't wait to watch your Everest trek video. Thanks for uploading.

Wonderful video. Makes me want to take my father, who loves mountains, to K2 to fulfill his "bucket list".
Bruce Kulander you are welcome in Pakistan bro :) People of that region, in fact Pakistanis are very nice people

how do you compare these places to switzerland or worlds any other good plces.
i mean which ones is best?
pakistaan northern part or any else?
You obviously did your homework Stephen. Thank you for identifying which peak is what. Very impressed. Excellent video.
Absolutely true. No other video has identified all the concordia peaks in such a detailed manner.
Those mountains and the contrast between the lower and upper levels is incredible. For those who like to build and work with stones, this place looks like a paradise of stones.
One of the rare Concordia video with clear weather and stunning camerawork. Loved the way you showed all the peaks and named them too.
Me 2

it is my burning desire to visit that place once in my life.Good job hats off.
amazing video, just gave my old memories back when i went to k2 base camp in 2006.
Now roads are in much better condition.
I visited Skardu in 2016. It was awesome. Come here guys, explore as much as u can
Love 2
Stunning views of majestic mountains and the toughest, best trekking in the world.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful memory Stephan. I am from the area and have done this trek for 5 times. Your video encourages me to go to Concordia again after almost 6 years of living in the Arabian deserts.
Thumbs up
The way that k2 gloomy and stands out from all the other mountains is just insanely awesome.
Great journey. I hope to follow your trek soon next year or later... thanks
Wow, I can only imagine how amazing it felt to see such beautiful areas in person. Its all breathtaking! This looks like an adventure of a lifetime, thank you sharing your experience with us!
then visit it. you would love that.
20:44 Is that fabric you see under the trail and 3 feet to the right of the woman hiking to keep the trail from collapsing?
Yes, sacks
12:03 Can you confirm is that K2 peak towards the left of marble of marble peak amidst the clouds. Can it’s peak be seen from here ? 👍👍👍

30:50 What makes these green areas survive? Are they planted and watered by humans or do they occur naturally?
Naturally i wish Those people would be so educated n govt could focus like watering n taking care of such natural beauty.
K2
Where climbing experience actually matters!
Wow, wow "n" wow😘
Mr.Stephen, what an amazing video you make👍
I love it💕
nice adventure and superb video thanks for such nice work
I thought the music was fine. If you You-Tube trolls didn't like the music.....don't watch it,jerks!!! Awesome footage of the region! Hope to be there one day. Thanks & be safe out there.

How many miles per day would you hike, how many miles total, how many days, how much weight and what did you have to carry in your backpack?
Miles don’t mean much in mountain terrain. Better to consider times. These were what we did over 12 days:
Askole to Jula: 6:35am - 2:10pm
Jula to Paiju : 6:30am - 2:05pm
Paiju - trail above river: 9:45am - 12:30pm
Paiju to Horbose: 6:40am - 1:40pm
Horbose to Urdokas: 6:40am - 10:15am
Urdokas to Goro II: 6:40am - 1:00pm
Goro II to Concordia: 6:40am - 12:00pm
Broad Peak and K2 Basecamps: 8:00am - 6:30pm
Concordia to Goro I: 7:40am - 2:40pm
Goro I to Horbose: 6:45am - 1:55pm
Horbose to Paiju: 6:40am - 12:45pm
Paiju to Jula: 6:40am - 1:20pm
We just carried what we needed during the day in our own back pack (extra layers, waterproofs, water, camera, sun block, first aid kit). We had porters who carried our kit bags (max 12.5 kgs) plus tents, food etc.
I wonder when we will see 4 lane highways on towers running through these areas?
Awesome video can you please tell me about the camera zooming is great and the up and down left to right going aswell great work done
+Fawad Shah I presume you are asking about zooming on the still photos. Stephen Slater Ok Thanks man Great work done i really liked it
beautiful place..great adventure...
this is a beautiful record.
Thanks, wonderful video. Would love to do that trek some day.
What a Beautiful adventure...Amazing Editing like it & thx u for Visit for Pakistan
Its really very good video in which all info and details have been described including some world`s highest peaks. It was more informative if you have mentioned time of hiking from one destination to other every day. Like how many hours you have hiked from Concordia to Guru1

What A wonderful adventure. Just beautiful.
Thank you for your's awesome video, we're planning for year 2014 ...Yeah !!! :D
Fabulous journey,thanks for uploading.
What percent of time and when would you use or not use hiking poles?
Personally I only tend to use hiking poles when I expect the terrain to be
especially slippery due to mud or snow. The UIAA have produced a series of
consensus statements from medical experts on various aspects of hill walking and
mountaineering, including one on the use of hiking sticks. You can download
them from the BMC web site. Look under walking then medical. Here’s the link
for the hiking sticks one: www.thebmc.co.uk/Download.aspx?id=470
I also went to k2. When i saw the hights of k2. i returned back
Is there any reason to combine these beautiful pictures with the worst music you could find?
Great video! Great soundtrack too.
Awesome video, superb to watch! I am tempted to try the trek, can I email you privately to ask you about it please?
15:30 there is the view that you came for!
Where do you throw away the toilet paper?
Into the toilets
Beautiful video I like it very much nice job sir👍
Omg , it amazed me a lot, thank you for much
Absolutely amazing
Stephen really nice video. I am planning on going on this trek this year in August. How was the weather? How low does the temperature go?
In my notes it says that one night at Goro II, one camp below Concordia, my
water froze inside my tent overnight, so it must have been below freezing inside
my tent. I have no measurement of exactly how low. I noted 8 degrees C inside
my tent during the day at Concordia. On descent, 33 degrees C at Jula and 37
degrees C returning from Askole to Skardu. 32 degrees C in Islamabad. This is
all I recorded on temperature. I took a down sleeping bag that is comfortable
down to minus 30 degrees C, though that was probably warmer than
necessary.
It rained several times, including at Concordia on the day for our walk up
to K2 base camp and back. Our group leader said he couldn’t ask the crew to do
a round trip of up to 12 hours in such conditions and cancelled the walk. Later
in the morning, after a few other groups had gone even in the rain, our head
guide said he was going to walk up to base camp and invited us to go along.
Only three of us from our group of 10 trekkers had originally asked to do the
optional walk to base camp, and only two of us then went with the guide in the
rain! The next day when we started our descent from Concordia it was dry and
clear, and we got great views of all the big peaks.
Stephen Slater thanks. seems that night time is really cold near concordia while day time shouldn't go sub-zero.
Thanks, this was a great inspiration for my dream vacation!
Great images. Thanks!
Thank you for such amazing video
excuse me...are there no villages/tea houses from askhole to the base camp?
None. There are fixed camp sites, mostly with toilets. I seem to remember
a semi-permanent tent serving food near the Broad Peak base camp on the way to
K2 base camp. At least this was the case when I went in 2012.
so you have to carry your own tent?
the trekking was exhausting as i immagine?
thank you sir!!
You can hire porters
Getting to K2 basecamp is really arduous and long. Hence K2 is considered to be the toughest mountain to climb.
Great video ... I am going next year! Thanks for taking the time to point out the peaks and elevations ... made the vid for me. Good camera work too ... what camera did you use please?
Sony SLT-A55VL
Hey, how long is the drive on that N35 Karakoram Highway ? and how long does it take to trek from where the jeep stops to K2 bace camp? and can you go from the base camp all the way to K2 and touch it? thank you
17 hours 45 minutes, 42 hours 15 minutes, and yes-ish
The timings from my notes are:
By road:
11:00am - 6:15pm Islamabad to Besham
5:00am - 3:30pm Besham to leaving KKH
3:30pm - 9:30pm leaving KKM to Skardu (same day)
rest/acclimatisation day
6:00am - 12:45pm Skardu to Askole road head
Walking - remember that at altitude you can only handle a few hundred metres of altitude gain per day before needing to stop overnight or for rest days to acclimatise to avoid altitude sickness:
6:35am - 2:10pm Askole to Jula
6:30am - 2:05pm Jula to Paiju
rest/acclimatisation day
6:40am - 1:40pm Paiju to Horbose
6:40am - 10:15pm Horbose to Urdokas
6:40am - 1:00pm Urdokas to Goro II
6:40am - 12:00pm Goro II to Concordia
8:00am - 12:50pm Concordia to K2 Basecamp one way
Obviously then you have to go all the way back again.
Touching K2 is not so clearly defined as there is no dotted line painted on the ground. We went to a place near base camp where the ground starts to slope up more steeply. Climbers can 'go from base camp' to the summit over many more days. Somewhere between these limits would be the start of K2.
Best alpine travel vid,as far as showing the landscape. : )

along the way with broken bridges, landslide, cancelled flight etc. Again it
helped to have an experienced tour company I’d travelled with several times

local travel agency in Pakistan. People seem to see Pakistan as somewhere scary

This dude is traveling way to fast going down that mountain.
No guard rail and an 800 ft drop.
Those drivers are nuts
yup, thats Asia for you.
Glad you liked it. Thanks.

Thx for the info Stephen. I'm from liverpool, what airport did you fly from ?
I'm going in July - August time. How cold is the temperature in Concordia and Base Camp?
If you pick “Newest first” on the comments and count down five to Ali Ahmad you’ll find my answer to this along with a comment from someone else.
Magically Beautiful !!
Excellent Camera and background music
top class and amazing journey
That’s a lot of people on this hike... where does everybody poop?
Its an expedition just to get to Concordia!
very nice video it made my day
Easily the best Concordia trek vid on the web so far. Great combo of stills and amazing HD vid. What was the total cost of that adventure? Does that include the "helicopter rescue" deposit?
29:58 Nice stone retaining wall on the left.
Yeah just seen it.
Thank you very much
J was in this beautiful place in year 2001. In this year , j was in Boltoro glacier until base camp K2. Pakistan is a wondeful country.and j also visited the Faisal masjid in Islamabad.
Amazing video!
Nice job. Thanx for sharing
pure beautiful sight, with breath taking view. but getting here is not every ones cup of tea.
Je.suis allé au camp de base du K2 en 2001. Magnifique trek.
very well edited video. Good job Stevo, im sure you ran out of time otherwise you would have conquered k2 as well.
Osm coverage.
Lovely video
สวยมาก วันที่เดินจากอาลีแค้มป์ข้าม Gondogorola เหนื่อยมาก หมดโควิด19 จะไปเดิน K6 K7
Spectacular viewing provided one switches off the music which has no place amongst this pristine beauty. The natural sounds would have sufficed. A commentary would have helped. But a superb video nonetheless.
Thanks for sharing the experience
Gostei muito da musica bem legal parabéns pelo vídeo.
k2 base camp is almost 13 to 14 days trek..!!
Nice video, thanks!
the image shown as k2 in 24 minute of video in nit K2
The local Pakistani guides told us this was K2.
If you compare the outline of the rock and shape of the snow areas with the western face to the left of the summit as shown in closer shots of K2 from Concordia, these match.
The shot was taken from coordinates 35°40'6.029" N 76°6'34.949" E 3417.1 m recorded as a GPS geotag with the photo. If you put this position into Google Earth and rotate the view to look east then it shows the summit of K2 with similar foreground.
It's your journey your video and your music, if people dont like dont fucken watch its simple. Fantastic video by the way mate. 👍
Here is the trip website: www.keadventure.com/holidays/pakistan-karakoram-trekking-k2-concordia
