Had my eye on this trek for many years. Read many incredible descriptions of this area but seeing is believing. It looks like the greatest mountain environment on the planet. Now I know that my life will not be complete until I have travelled this road. Some good camera work and editing. Well done.
Fantastic. Best vid of K2 I've seen - I hope to one day stand on the summit of this mountain - although I want another 8 years high altitude experience before even trying...to touch the summit of this mountain is a truely exceptional achievement.
This trek is on my list. The views are awesome. It seems a lot more rugged than Everest base camp and you get the opportunity to get really close to the mountain. Wow. Many thanks for posting this. :)
there is a place known as Shilla la at the height of 16000 feet near Skardu. It takes two days to reach there and u can only see the upper part of k-2 only if the weather is clear. The shilla la is in the west of Satpara village.
I was there last year, didn't to the exact places but around that year, my third trip, I live about day drive from there, when I am back home in Pakistan. End of June, July and August is best time to go there. This video is great, thanks for promoting.
Asad Bakhtiar How tough was it? especially crossing the glaciers with ropes and stuff. I am not good with heights so I need to prepare myself for what's expected
great stuff...... are people planning on going here, if so when and with whom I am based in copenhagen DENMARK and would like to join a group of people who are going. Which tour guide did you use for this trip and any reccomendation on what gear to select
So it seems there's no way of getting around an additional $6000 helicopter deposit, no matter who you book with, as it's the law of the land in Pakistan now. That makes this trip nearly $10,000 it appears. Knew there'd be a major snag as I tried to put it in motion for a late June start. Yeah , I know...I'll get the money back and so on , but that's just too much to plunk down right from the get-go.
Please make this second part available for viewing on mobile devices. I love this part and could watch it over and over, but only at home on my PC. I badly wanna do the Godogoro La to Concordia trek so bad , but a question recently occurred to me. How do you get to Hushe to get started ? Askole seems "easier" to reach by jeep , but what's the route for the reverse trek ?
Outstanding video and commendable effort on the treak, its by no means an easy trek :) I am planning a similar one this year, can you answer some questions ?
thx for posting this. I am so intrigued by this trek that I have put a deposit down and purchased airfare to Pakistan. What month did you go? Did you visit k6 basecamp area? Do you need experience to cross the pass? I notice you did some technical stuff on the glacier. Did you have to do that or was that just practicing for all of you? Can you tell me the name of the tour operator? thx and sorry for all the questions. I have to do this
Love it. I have done the Annapurnas and the Everest Himalaya trek 4 times and I would love to do the "Throne of the Gods" but I am now 64 and starting to feel it a bit.. What do you think?
At what time do you start to know you're not right for the summit? Like where's the line that you'd draw if you aren't feeling well and you're still trying to get to the top
I am leaving in less than three weeks for this trek. The crossing of the stream seems a bit intimidating to me. Would you say it is dangerous? Did you have protection from falling? Thx
Amazing video. We're planning a trip in early August. I'm a little concerned about the part where there are ropes and clips involved. The people I'm going with will be getting those for us, but I still want to know how tough is it? I need to prepare myself
Dear Irma, Thanks for your mail. if you want to do a gondogoro La trek then KE Adventure Travel www.keadventuretravel.com is the best company for the GL trek they fixed the ropes and full climbing equipment experience english trek leader and high altitude even they provide porters equipments for there porters. They introduce the GL trek.
No you can't. You can't even see it from Askole. You need to trek six days to be able to watch it. That said, I must clarify I haven't gone there myself. Someone who has been there would be in a better position to help you with the answer.
