A trek from gorge to gorge in the Tian Shan mountains of Kyrgyzstan. We wild camped from the start in Juukuchak Gorge until Jety-Oguz yurt camp, then used fixed camps for the rest of the way to the end at Altyn Arashan. The trek included two high passes, Telety Pass (3800 m) and Ala-Kul Pass (3900 m) as well as Lake Ala-Kul and views of Karakol Peak. After a tour of the capital city Bishkek, ou...
Walking the Wicklow Way + Dublin & Dun Laoghaire, Ireland
มุมมอง 1.1Kปีที่แล้ว
This 8-day self-guided walk northwards from Clonegal to Marlay Park Dublin mostly follows the Wicklow Way. I detoured to more scenic routes in some places - to Lugduff SE Top, along the Spinc and around the upper lake at Glendalough; over Scarr summit; and after White Hill on to the summit of Djouce. At the end there are some still photos from Dublin and Dun Laoghaire. 19-29/05/23. Trip booked ...
Annapurna Circuit & Annapurna Sanctuary, Nepal
มุมมอง 56Kปีที่แล้ว
Finally back in Nepal! I’d been straining at the bit to get back to the Himalayas - my favourite place to trek - through the whole pandemic, so I was overjoyed to finally make it back to Nepal. The first half of this trip is the Annapurna Circuit. I did this before in 2002 so I can show you how things have changed after 20 years. The second half is to the Annapurna Sanctuary. This was new to me...

My Year Trekking Ridgeway ~ (2) W-E, Seasons in England
มุมมอง 5192 ปีที่แล้ว
In April 2021, restrictions from our second Covid-19 lockdown were eased enough that we were allowed to leave our local areas. The Ridgeway is the closest national trail to home. My plan was to split 6 days of walking into 12 half days and walk out and back from my car to avoid overnight stays and public transport. I would do one segment a month to show the trail through the seasons. I recorded...

Emerging from lockdown to explore the freedom a new self-guided walk: 21/08/20 - 01/09/20. This would be either my first walk after the pandemic, a walk in the brief respite between the first wave and when everything went to pot again, or a walk in the last days of the earthlings of Sol 3 - those ape things that ruled the planet in between the dinosaurs and the insects... And then halfway throu...

This is a video of my visit to the Elephant Valley Project, near Sen Monorom Cambodia on 27th December 2019. It was one day from a two week tour of Cambodia which is documented in a separate video (th-cam.com/video/Lgty4phI0AY/w-d-xo.html). For me, this was the highlight of the tour. I had lots of extra footage from EVP not used in the video of the full tour and found it to be relaxing to watch...

Thank you for this beautifully filmed hiking video. I enjoyed very much of the numerous details of the English nature, especially with their proper names. The lush green colours of the sceneries along the Coast to Coast route are such a huge contrast to the grey, icy and snowy late winter day currently here in the South of Finland. Wishing you and yours all the best 😊

If I recall the explanation from our guides correctly, the elephants which had grown up in captivity had to be taught how to do basic things like find the water to take a bath after which they could then be left to do it for themselves when they felt like it.
