Talk in terms of wider vocal without eq, this video does not show the total capability of any of these tlm's. If you really wanna know, try with individual with lower pitch ( that's when one differs from other actually), In this video you can hardly notice anything. TLM 103 is actually the best of all, for studios you can have people with wide vocal range, not specific to one individual. So you have a better freq range. 107 is good looking mic I can give but 102 is seriously not in the same league, better you go with Rode N1 rather than 102
There are quite a few more on the TLM series. The TLM171 R and the TLM193, based on the K89 capsule found in the Neumann U89. (The TLM193 is cardioid only). Then there is the TLM67, based on the U67, and the TLM49, based on the legendary M49. Still, good video- thanks!
Which ones you would recommend me for acustic grand piano. Currently I used 2 tlm 102 for it backed up for the 103 midside within an Rode NT2A polar pattern (Rode figure of 8 and tlm 103 directly forming the midside amonga them, and I also use the 103 strictly for voices and other instruments within mono recordings. Thanks 😀 Thanks
You never mentioned that the 102 needs extremely quite environment. 102 is actually damn sensitive to the slightest of noises. Thats why cant trust online reviews. U give a perfect picture of any product. You misguide us. Very wrong. Not an honest reviewer.
U should’ve done more research. 102 has like a 12db self noise while tlm is extremely quiet as its only 7db self noise. U will hear cars driving passed & all that. But that’s why room acoustics & treatment is so important. If u haven’t invested in that, then going for higher end mics might actually make your recordings worst because every little noise will be captured with such detail
The TLM 170 is actually the best mic Neumann ever made. Thanks for NOT including it. The TLM 170 R was the first microphone with the now so successful fet-100 technology. It offers balanced, transformerless signal decoupling and highest controllability with extremely low inherent-noise. It’s more expensive but worth every penny.
Can’t tell if you’re happy he didn’t include it(obviously because the 170 is mad pricey!) or because you’re actually bummed out the dude didn’t have the cash to get one because it’s mad pricey ….
I would have preferred if he included the TLM 193 in the comparison. It is the cardioid only TLM 170 for half the price which makes it much more comparable to the 102 and 103.
@@Currywurst-zo8oo don’t think it would sound the same as the 170 because the 170 is a dual membrane capsule while the 193 is single,,,, single and dual do sound quite a bit different, I prefer single ( with mics under $1500 though) , top dollar mics they are all phenomenal, in this guys review I totally prefer the 107 it’s almost like the 103 without the harsh highs, and the 102 with the full lowend
@@rylandweet7750Are you sure that the TLM 193 only has a single diaphragm? Manufactures today just use dual diaphagms for some of their microphones because they are easier to tune that way. Another example would be the cardioid only AT 4040. They might not be identical but when you use the TLM 170 in cardioid mode they sound basically the same. A lot of people say that the 170 is simply a better 107 so I was very curious how the 193 fairs against other cardioid only mics like the 103.
@@Currywurst-zo8oo, TLM 193 uses a dual-diaphragm capsule but is a cardioid-only microphone. Only its front diaphragm is connected electrically while the rear diaphragm is just a passive element of the acoustical design, didn’t think it was but yep it sure is! The at4040 is single. I replace them all the time actually, but both the 193 and 4040 are edge terminated

@@refugioflores2226 I have it it’s worth it due to the fact you really don’t need much sound proofing although it’s always best to record in a treated room
@@Mannysosa223 oh so the 102 is harder to to treat for the room? . I’m really deciding I’ve seen other post some ppl mention other brands for the money of the 102 I could get something better but I really don’t have access to try different options
@@refugioflores2226 I don’t have the 102 I’m pretty sure it’s a great mic but as far as the 103 it’s definitely worth the price I’m not even that good at mixing but this is how my friend sounds with the tlm 103

I can't even afford a half of the cheapest TLM 102 and youtube recommends me this video. But it's nice tho 😅
get a second job
get 2 jobs bro
What about the tlm 49????
Excellent video and comparison. I'm battling trying to figure out which Neumann to purchase, money is a factor but I want to buy the right one and possible spending more may be the route to go. You've got a great voice, I don't know the song you were singing but your voice would be great singing songs by Five for Fighting. Take care.
You got Presets?
Sounds like at some point maybe you had a de-esser that was only working on the left
no entendi nada, pero me suscribo para apoyarte ya que es un buen material
The 103 is overrated, sorry.
His sound is harsh.
I don't like this mic.
The 102 is very good mic, but the 107 is better.
Do u think 102 is worth upgrading from a rode nt1a?
(Idk if u used it, just assuming u have or atleast familiar with it)
Thanks in advance
@@Kay_Locc TLM 102 is much better than NT1a dude.
NT1a is good for beginners.
TLM 102 has a warmer sound, it has more "roundness".
And it does not have this aggressive side in the high frequencies.
Sorry for my english bro, im french. 🙂
dude ur voice is soooooo good and so special bro please tell me you have ur own music out as well?
Thanks man!!! I do have my own music 💪🏻
बढ़िया जानकारी 👏❤️🇮🇳
Queria muito o tlm 102 ao menos, mas pra mim ainda uma distante realidade, aqui no Brasil.
Wonderful voice
Dam he keeps them in there boxes, mine are all over the floor 😂
102 is the best
Talk in terms of wider vocal without eq, this video does not show the total capability of any of these tlm's.
If you really wanna know, try with individual with lower pitch ( that's when one differs from other actually), In this video you can hardly notice anything.
TLM 103 is actually the best of all, for studios you can have people with wide vocal range, not specific to one individual. So you have a better freq range. 107 is good looking mic I can give but 102 is seriously not in the same league, better you go with Rode N1 rather than 102
TLM 103 for me..I have one so I`m biased.
don’t be biased bro 😏
There are quite a few more on the TLM series. The TLM171 R and the TLM193, based on the K89 capsule found in the Neumann U89. (The TLM193 is cardioid only). Then there is the TLM67, based on the U67, and the TLM49, based on the legendary M49. Still, good video- thanks!
and what do you advice to look at for vocal?..
@@allbulgaria Do you have a sample of the vocal I can listen to? I can help you pinpoint that if you want.
Thanks 😀
Thanks
I'd love to hear that combo

Helloooo Nuemann!
102 🔥 🧐
Tlm 107 vs u87 te lo suplico
The yoddler 😂
You never mentioned that the 102 needs extremely quite environment. 102 is actually damn sensitive to the slightest of noises. Thats why cant trust online reviews. U give a perfect picture of any product. You misguide us. Very wrong. Not an honest reviewer.
Damn right
U should’ve done more research.
@@Kay_Locc I have seen some videos which determine this problem. I have done my research well.
@@Kay_Locc Why do youtubers get such a pro sound out of their mics whereas when I use it I get a normal sound which is not impressive.
@@mychess5821same thing happen to me .. i dont know how they do it
The TLM 103 has more sensibility than the TLM 107. I prefer that for vocals. It makes them more musical.
I'ma buy a Neumann with my first cheque.
Which one you got?
I also wanna know which one u got
Bro you should’ve talked into them smh lol
Ferrari dos microfones top
TLM 170
What, no TLM49 and TLM170? 😉
