It almost sounded like the paper was reporting on two separate deaths; a 17 year old that was killed by a blow to the head, and a 12 year old girl that was shot, near the same time, in a reasonably close location..🤔

I remember watching your older video about this (coincidentally while on a walk in the exact area - I’d just happened to find it right then and there, so that was fun) and wanting to know more details because it was all so blatantly fishy. Nice production work on this one too. It’s unfortunate that there’s so little chance these two deaths, with there curious connections, will ever be solved. Hey, there’s a thought: what if the girls were killed by the same person/s?
Excellent analysis Steve. Two things I'd think about, number one, research any recent funerals or obits in the papers a few days after the first girl was found, the 17-year-old. Look for any recent funerals and burials from any prominent families. Who were the deceased, gender and age? Why would a rich girl end up dead like that? Murdered? Well, she could have gotten tangled up with a bad guy and ended up pregnant, perhaps? Those things can happen as easily as bumping into a conman as a girl exists a clothing store in downtown... they meet for coffee and it goes from bad to worse...the other thing I'd look into is, was a girl found, from a low status family and deemed a good enough victim, to replace the other girl? In other words, did someone from the Portland Police Bureau kill another girl, to replace the first girl? Is that how the little 12-year-old girl wound up dead? Things like that have happened before. In any event, great analysis. Your documentaries just get better and better.
Good detective work finding all the huge discrepancies in the two deaths. It is bizarre. Statistically speaking, women are far less likely to commit suicide by using a gun than men.
That little girl did not commit suicide! I’m my honest opinion. Who knows who killed her, but I feel someone she knew very well killed her. She had the damn gun that belong in the household she lived in. So sad😥💔BTW Steve the way you built this story up was pretty damn good! And the dedication at the end pulled at my heart. So so sad how these old crimes will never be solved.
While the coverup is a likely scenario, it's not automatic that the young lady was a member of a local family or that she was murdered by a family member. It's quite possible that she was by someone in a wealthy family with whom she was romantically involved or by another member because of a romantic involvement. A blow to the head would bring to mind the ider of a crime of passion or opportunity. That would indeed be even more reason to cover it up.

Perhaps the girl was being abused by her Uncle? It's terrible to think about, but it could have been a reason for murder.
