    Not sure if it goes with your stuff, but I got a WORX after-market battery for my lawn tools. It is labeled as a 84watt and was just a generic ebay battery. It actually lasted longer than my original WORX branded batteries.
    I just opened it up and came across your video while looking for info on the cells. The cells are wrapped and labeled as Vanon, 18650HR15. Strange that the battery will only run for a few seconds now, I think planned obsolescence with the BMS, as the same thing happened with the original real WORX batteries. I have run the cells through my benchmark system, discharged and recharged at 1 amp. They seem to hold about 1ah each. That was after 4 years of heavy use at my motel for grounds upkeep. Blue wrapper. I will be repurposing them in other projects.

    On those blue LG cells, the laser etched warnings were added around the start of this year on all 2500mAh, and higher, cells in response to unauthorized use of LG cells outside of a protected battery pack. Especially by vapers.

    I bought Vanon battery's for my Milwaukee units, the first one I got worked great, didn't hold a charge as long as originals but acceptable. Along comes my son's birthday so I bought 2 M 12's for him and 2 M 18's for me. He said his works great( I charged them on my charger) and the 2 M 18's were not good at all. One would not latch into the charger and the other would not latch into my drill or impact. After 4 weeks trying to get them to replace both of them I just gave up. They still will not latch and I am not going to damage my real Milwaukee equiptment. So for me Vanon is history!!!!

    I sub you because it looks like you have a DYI Power wall and I am I'm thinking about doing a partials Solar Power Wall to start to to run my office - computer, lights and other items. I am just getting started. I have gotten around 50 use laptop battery packs. most are Samsung batteries. After charging some of them most 2300+ again I am just starting and have lots to learn but I've been interested in solar for a long time but one of the things that put me off is the battery cost. With lithium batteries I can build a very nice battery pack for less $$ and batteries will last longer. Any help would be appreciated. What size battery pack should I make how many cells, where to get the holders that you have on your wall. Thanks and I will start watching some of your earlier videos.

    I bought the 6AH battery for my Makita drill,, never used it except to try it, and did a couple of maintenance charges to keep them topped off. Well they lasted 6 months before the things wouldn't charge or run in drill. Did whatever Vanon requested for documentation for warranty claim,,, finally put a claim into Paypal for defective product and not honoring the 1 year warranty, and Vanon lied to Paypal saying that the battery was abused somehow, and I got nothing except an offer of a $5 credit to buy a new defective battery from them in the future. Inside the pack, I had 9 - LR1865BI's and a single LR1865BE. Somehow I don't understand a single 1.5ah battery included in a 6ah pack. Fool me once,,,, never again.

The other lasted about a minute and a half before dying. Both were charged fully before using. I contacted the Ebay seller and they remitted the cost of the batteries. Reviews on these batteries are filled with almost identical experiences. These were the so called 3ah "for Ryobi One+ 18v".

    With all the scams out there, it's inevitable we will all be scammed at some point. Everyone must do their due diligence and not take the word of any online reviews, especially "sponsored" reviews and be skeptical of the too-good-to-be-true claims. There are certain popular YT reviewers that refuse to take sponsored items for review in order to protect themselves from this exact issue. HB don't lose sleep over it. I have left quite a detailed comment on your original video. I'm impressed you have the honesty bro upload this one. The quality of the Vanon packs different significantly internally across many aspects within the same amp rated models. Poor cell connects with little spot welding, Chinese cells, no heat sinks, no current protection, never any over temp protection, fine gauge wire connecting cells to the PCB etc. happy for you to Pm me and I can send you some of my photos. Anyone who has searched TH-cam be for lithium ion battery fires are foolish in thinking they are not risking their own safety and that of others when buying pirated battery packs.

    • @HBPowerwall
      @HBPowerwall  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not overly concerned with the quality - if you pay for a cheap hooker you GET A CHEAP hooker... everyone knows what they are buying in that price bracket. My grip is I spent a huge amount of time editing and testing these cells like any video 80 percent of footage wasn't even used. I was impressed with the run time verses cost - I tested 30Q's and no one else got them. Grateful this wasn't a paid gig or I would have had to refund. Update: I took several pictures if you want them. Mine had a date of 10/19/2018 so a few months after this video. They use their own generic Vanon shrink wrap on a battery of unknown origin. "Vanon 18650HR15 2018.10.19 3.6" Cutting the wrapper off revealed nothing, no markings of any kind on the cell. Cells test at .228v which is expected of a failed cell. Maybe they're no longer using random shit batteries and got a supply or maybe they're taking the time to rewrap random shite batteries, I don't know. I still don't mind what I paid... like 60 bucks for 2 that lasted 1.5 years. Not the best, I know. But I can put in replacements of my own so whatever. I have the circuitry in place.

    Just tossing these thoughts out as I watch...
    The zero in that J0F2 code on that 30Q indicates that it is a Samsung 20 series or 30 series cell. The free-floating top ring insulator is a good sign that it is a genuine Samsung too. All Samsung’s have a counterstamp on the venting disc, one or two characters, and near the outside edge on the bottom.

    My 4ah lasted a couple years in a fan, exclusive use only. One just died. I took it apart, two cells were bad. As I pulled the nickel off it started venting... electrolyte? I'm not sure, I through it in a bottle of oil to be safe. The other I popped out and chucked in the there too. All I saw was purple wrappings that just had some generic "Vanon" "brand" on it. I'll take the non leaking one out and look closer. The other 8 batteries still tested 4v, I gotta get a tester too pull them down and check ampacity. That'll come soon. Even if the company sucks, these lasted a while and I'll just buy new cells and weld them in. The electric board seems fine and batteries are 5 bucks a pop so it'll be like buying a "new" one, I suppose, just with known good cells.

They are green import cells and written on the cells is as follows ( +vanon 18650LD15 20190716 3.6v) the cells are buggered and of poor quality. most of the time if I get a cell the wont charge its due to extremely low voltage so i give the a 20 sec charge with a second sell in parallel and then they are picked up by the charger. If you want to talk me down because of what the Vanons cost -> I only buy my Ryobi batteries at Home Depot when they are sold for about 90 bucks (for TWO 4.0). To me... runtime matters as Im dependent on my tools. Vanon advertised 5.0 Ah and yet their product got beaten by my 4.0 that is 5 years old... EDIT. I can open the Vanons but I cannot pull the cell package! Seems like they habe glued them in!

    Morale of the story is good batteries are expensive, buy cheap you get what you pay for. Batteries are simply one of those things where I've found the generic brand to be just as good as the name brand. They tend to work but about half as long, and last half as long also.

    • @HBPowerwall
      @HBPowerwall  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      totally agree - that said if they had have been 30q's in every pack like they sent me they WOULD have been great batteries - BMS would definitely be the thing that held them back tho

    I would say yes they probably did set you up. The ones we got are garbage, and the company does not fulfill their warranty promises. My dad bought 2, and if they get drained too far they won't charge up again. Both of his are dead after being used a few times. I know you're supposed to re-charge li-ions before they discharge too far, but the real makita and other name brand batteries have a protective circuit that keeps them from draining all the way. I've told my dad to charge his batteries sooner but he never does. I bought a couple too, had one in my flashlight which was accidentally left on, well it drained the battery all the way and now it wont recharge. Brand new battery only used a few times and its dead. The item description says one year warranty, but when you check the return policy it says 30 days. I've contacted customer service twice and still no response after 1 month.

I bought several of thier so called 6ah batteries in the past 3 years, I recently opened up one and found 18650's with vanon stamped on them, after doing multiple tests at various loads they all show up as 2000 mAh not the 3000mah they should be. Well I guess we know why they didnt want to send you more than 2 batteries.

    Agree that Vanon are crap.
    Bought 2 of these 2.5 years ago for a project thinking they are half price, 2 for the price of 1 and will do for a construction project I had. 1 was dead on arrival, and got it replaced. The other lasted 2 months and couldn't get replaced...past the 30 day warranty!!! So the remaining one I've had for the 2 years but doesn't have the capacity or robustness of the genuine Ryobi battery. Its fallen apart, plastics cracked, screws fallen out and cant be put back in and held together with tape.
    Would I buy them again??? The answer is DEFINITELY NOT.
    I would have been better served buying 1 genuine RYOBI battery twice the price, robust and just works. Unfortunately, looks like you got scammed....I will never buy these cheap batteries again. I'd take a dead one for free and rejuvenate it with new/recycled batteries but never buy one ever again.
