➡️➡️Watch Kali Audio LP-6 Studio Monitors Review (1st Wave) here: • Kali Audio Studio Moni...
Kali Audio has announced the 2nd Wave of their best-selling LP-Series studio monitors. The lineup consists of the LP-6: a 6.5-Inch 2-way monitor available in both black and white, and the LP-8, an 8-Inch 2-way monitor.
Since being launched in 2018, the LP-6 and LP-8 have become some of the best-selling monitors globally. Users have praised their accurate frequency response, low distortion, excellent imaging, and user-friendliness.
The new versions of the LP-Series monitors replace the original versions in Kali’s lineup, and use their 2nd Wave technology platform to realize substantial performance improvements. These include 12 dB lower self-noise, 3 dB higher output thanks to a more sophisticated limiter, more robust DSP for a smoother high frequency response, lighter transducers, and improved construction processes for better cosmetic longevity.
Nate Baglyos, Kali’s Director of Marketing, says: “With this announcement, now all of Kali’s monitors are part of our 2nd Wave, which is something we’re very proud of. We feel that we’ve addressed the most important feedback that we’ve gotten on our products since starting the company. In doing so, our monitors are no longer ‘the new kids on the block;’ they are serious monitors worth professional consideration at any pricepoint.”
The LP-6 gets 80W of power, with both the 1-inch tweeter and 6.5-inch woofer getting their own 40W amp. The LP-8 gets 100W of power, using the same 40W amp and 1-inch tweeter that the LP-6 uses, and an 8-Inch woofer powered by a 60W amp. Boundary EQ settings are accessible on the back of the speaker, along with a quick reference guide printed directly onto the speaker itself. New for the 2nd Wave version is a boundary EQ for using the speakers on desks with monitor stands.
The LP-6 will retail for $199 in the US, and the LP-8 will retail for $249. Customers who are considering buying can visit Kaliaudio.com/secondwave for information about how to tell the 2nd Wave versions apart from the originals. Additionally, Kali will continue to support the original versions.

I've been a user of Kali LP8's, and a vintage pair of JBL L-40 studio monitors. I bounce between the 2 sets when recording, mixing and mastering. I love the Kali's. In fact, I'd like to add the Kali LP6's to go between 6", 8" and 10" monitors. Oh, plus I have a pair of Auratone's 5C's. Love your channel and info. Keep it up!! Cheers!!

Once I stacked LP6's on top of each, one upside down so the tweeters are closer togther as Kali instructed me to in a secret instagram DM... and the combination of the four speakers was absolute mind blowing earth shattering studio excitement and I am committed to replicating this with the version 2s as my Adam T8V's can't match stacked lone pines... Not even close... Great review Warren..

I know it near impossible to accurately access the sound from the lapel mic over TH-cam, so on that basis, the Kali’s sounded covered in the midrange compared to the Gens. When you switched to the Gens it was like a blanket lifted off the sound. Kali’s had good bass extension but at the expense of a clear midrange is my impression of them from this demo. Thanks Warren!

I have a pair of LP6s already and I think they're plenty loud enough! I'm really trying to save my hearing. I'm in a small bedroom sized space and they can easily overload the room even with the little acoustic treatment that I have. I bought them on yours and Glenn Fricker's recommendations and couldn't be happier! Thanks for that one! But another pair would be really nice too!

@@kaliaudio Yes I would guess this would be one of the bigger priorities. Maybe I will get back to music one day. If so, I will buy a pair. I got covid back in april damaging both my hearing and my vocal cord/muscles on a neurological level changing the tone of my voice. I was a musician/singer before all that. Now I sound like shit, super nasal even though it havent affected my sinuses. It seems to be the muscles in the palate not constricting the way they should and it seems so far to be irreversibel damage...
And they're claiming it to be a rasparitory disease?! Well that's just BS. If you're lucky it will only affect your loungs. Oh yeah the muscles in the eyes are fucked up as well. It seems to have triggered a neurodegenerative muscle disorder in the eyes also, making it hard to switch focus points and making the eyesight all blurry most of the time. Oh yeah... worst of all... Sudden almost complete erectile dysfunction at 37 years of age. Life is great, isn't it?! :)
Be careful out there! One day music is your life. The next you'll be trying to forget all about it.

The 12Db drop in self noise is significant! And they are around the same price as a pair of Mackie's but I would love to hear them in person. When I was young I was using Tannoy PBM 6.5's, because I despise Yamaha NS10's. This was before home studio's could have self powered monitors, way back then! Still hate the NS 10's, and everyone I knew using them had a napkin or something over the tweeters yet raved about them. Amazing what you can get for the money now, and matched amps to drivers is sweet, making the amp and speakers together cheaper than they were 30 years ago! Now if we can do that with the rent...

Powered up and ran some familiar tracks through them.....we were shocked at how much low end was coming out..... and not hypey low end, still balanced. Just hearing that much coming out of a 6" was amazing!!..... and they were plenty loud!.

I have a vacation cottage up in Oregon that I wanted to be able to go to and noodle away at music. I stashed a guitar amp up there and I decided to make a little recording setup with a Focusrite interface and I needed some cheap but not horrible monitors. Based on your previous look at the Kali LP-6s I just went and grabbed a pair at the nearest Guitar Center and I must say that I was pretty amazed at the low end and the overall quality vs price for those things. I've since recommended them to a couple people who were on a budget.

@Produce Like A Pro Nice review. Would the LP-6 benefit from a treble lift like you did with the IN-5? Would of the two did you prefer?

The IN-5 is a wonderful monitor! Both are incredible value for money, it comes down to how much you want to spend

I use B&W 802 Matrix Series2 for monitoring (what is out of Price range of Kali for shure :=)) and looking for a good cheap way to expand the system for Atmos with Kali LP-8 or LP-6

As much as your setup can give you better sound, especially if you come from the very very ismple stuff. A good mix can also make a great differene. I have a pair of unknown Pioneer bookshelve speakers using good old spaeker wire, connected to a 15+ year old Panasonic AV receiver which gets its audio from a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 connected to my PC. The speakers are tuned very simply by myself because they have a big boost at around 140 - 145 Hz so I lowered that and boosted the treble a decent bit for added brightness. Most music sounds pretty good on these, but a good mix like Whiskey from Steve Maggiora sounds amazing compared to most music I find on spotify. I'm not a mixing/mastering engineer, I just want good quality stuff to enjoy music and occasionally mess around with synths. But mostly to enjoy music. And although a better pair of speakers can be nice, finding a good mix is at least half the work. If not more.
Never heard that song Whiskey before but I fell in love with it the moment I hear it in this video so thanks for that!

Hi Warren, I'm about to purchase my 1st studio monitors, I produce EDM mainly and i cannot decide between T7V & LP-6. I believe the Adams have a scooped mids and are over doing the highs while the Kalis have a flat response. would you help me decide ?

Was the mid range flatter clearer than it sounds through your Mike , that mid range bloom would really concern me ?

Lol, I find it ironic that Sam and I are watching this listening to Kali LP6 demo through our Kali LP6's! I think we have entered some sort of time paradox of kali proportions 😅

Hi Warren. Question for yourself or the community to answer. If one chooses to use a monitor controller with a console...what outputs from the console would you use - do you come from the mix output or the actual monitor outputs? I presumed using monitor outputs from console to monitor controller. The reason I am asking is because I want to use my console strictly for tracking and sending some cues etc, but not for mixing on, as I mix in the box, and would rather keep the console off. I am happy to monitor straight from Daw when mixing. During tracking obviously I want full monitor control of whats going through the desk and also whats going into the daw, so I am thinking of a monitor controller, and now (I may be overthinking this) about what output is correct, is it your console monitor outputs or the mix outputs? It's my first time considering a monitor controller. ps** for the price point, Kali's are nothing short of awesome.

Hey there. I have a hopefully small question. I am in the market to either buy the LP-6 (or 8) V2 or the IN-8 V2 which are 170 euros more. My listening distance is around 2,5M - 3M. I prefer mids and highs, and good soundstage and imaging. For 170 euros more, what does the IN-8 offer more than the LP-6 V2 and is it significantly (170 euros) better? Thanks!

It seems to me that the Kalis have a bit more of a boxy sound (in the 300Hz region) compared with the Genelecs. But, of course, hard to really discern the truth via ta moving microphone. :)

I owed lp6's and loved them, but that dam standing noise drove me nuts. I said if they ever get rid of that I would consider them again. and now that I think about it... next to my hs5 they where half as loud, I had the hs5 at 12 o'clock, and kali set to almost all the way up which made for more noise floor. So I may look at these again.

    • @kaliaudio
      @kaliaudio 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

  • @dannyboystudios6604

I’m glad they updated these and made them a bit louder. In the store they were noticeably quieter than any others on the monitor wall. Even turning them all the way up, we had to turn all the other ones down. In the studio they sounded great, the extra headroom is nice, then they will have fixed the quiet hiss the originals could have.
