We took tnis out for a test drive the other week....was way better than we thought it would be!! Interior felt and looked premium, very spacious and got down tne road very well! It's on our shortlist anyway
Liking the Tonka toy look, not sure about the C-pillar graphic since its a Citroën design cue. What would've been nice would have been more influence from the F-150 Lightning at the front. With it being a wall of one colour and texture the textured black panel of the Lightning would've broken that surface up nicely.
An ID4 in cowboy boots? Pricing will be really important for this I guess. Find it interesting that VW are licensing out the platform to other marques when they struggle to satisfy demand of own label.
What a fab looking machine. I think I'll add the explorer to my list of potential cars when the PCP is up on my MG4 in a few years (sadly I won't be buying another MG). The exterior is going to be marmite for many (its not a traditional style) though I do like it. The interior is lovely, and its not swaddled in piano black which not only gets covered in finger prints it scratches easily too. Looks like another winner from Ford.
I started playing wank word bingo listening to the marketing guy. There wasn't a prize after hearing 5 mins. That aside, looking forward to seeing it down under. My Model 3 is approaching 3 years old and I'm looking forward to seeing a decent Ford product. I'm a Ford guy through and through.
Complete corporate waffle, I’m a lifelong Ford owner but anyone who thinks that as the guy said, people will love this, needs to get their head examined. Loved the way he hesitated on replying regarding the platform… the world and his wife know that the platform is VW’s MEB. I fail to see how as he said this is aFord when half the interior controls are straight from VW without making any attempt to at least disguise them. This is a HUGE disappointment from Ford, real shame where the company is heading…
I don't like it. The wheels are too big. It looks like a bar of soap in this colour. I couldn't have gone along with the marketing bullshit. I couldn't even watch the whole video. But Johnny, I still like you and will continue to watch your channel. 👍
So soon the cheapest smaller Ford will be a 30k Puma. I hope that the Renault 5 is a big hit and forces Ford to come back to the segment it is abandoning
Quite like the side profile and the back end. Less enthused by the front. The bonnet looks unnecessarily large proportion wise (maybe camera angle?) so I hope they have a front trunk. Need to see it in the metal really. You've very smartly allowed Mr. Demkiw to explain a lot of the car features which I find very helpful for these types of "car launches". I'd love to get your opinion on this when driving on the road and interacting with the final product. Cheers!
I used to own a 1999 ford explorer XLT with the 4.0 v6 efi engine. That was a brilliant car ,this is just an ID4 in a fancy dress .and I'm a proper old skool ford fan .this does nothing for me .I really miss the time when ford would design and build its own cars ,this is just ford cheapening it's brand .
And they are not going to sell it in the country that is the birth home of Ford…..this makes sense how exactly? Now if they could just give it a 500 mile range, 10 minute full charge capability and an infrastructure that WORKS all the time, I might consider one. In kalifornee the governor pushes electric cars and then asks people to AVOID charging their electric cars…..hummm? I will stick to my sq8 for now thanks.
Thank you Johnny for this excellent video - you certainly have beaten FCed getting into the car :D! If I saw the Explorer on the road without knowing the badge I'd think it's coming from Landrover... Overall, quite a decent efort.
That tiny bit of wing in front of the base of the a-pillar gives the MEB/MQB origins away...
I think this would make a good EV replacement for the Ford Edge in the states.
if this is where car design is going, I'm catching the bus
We took tnis out for a test drive the other week....was way better than we thought it would be!! Interior felt and looked premium, very spacious and got down tne road very well! It's on our shortlist anyway
Liking the Tonka toy look, not sure about the C-pillar graphic since its a Citroën design cue. What would've been nice would have been more influence from the F-150 Lightning at the front.
With it being a wall of one colour and texture the textured black panel of the Lightning would've broken that surface up nicely.
Yep agree…I’d want estate and smallish cars not bloody blocks of suv….they all look the same anyway.
I think it looks great and it does have elements of classic explorers. I think it looks far better than the awkward Mach E.
An ID4 in cowboy boots? Pricing will be really important for this I guess. Find it interesting that VW are licensing out the platform to other marques when they struggle to satisfy demand of own label.
You will see more and more that working together is the solution and not building to mzch capacity!
He said from £40k but bet this version is nearer £50k
So now we know what a press release would look like in human form
I don't like it. The wheels are too big. It looks like a bar of soap in this colour. I couldn't have gone along with the marketing bullshit. I couldn't even watch the whole video. But Johnny, I still like you and will continue to watch your channel. 👍
So soon the cheapest smaller Ford will be a 30k Puma. I hope that the Renault 5 is a big hit and forces Ford to come back to the segment it is abandoning
sadly no money in the segment, Renault made no money on the Zoe.
My private locker, I had one of them under my bed as a teenager, just filled with magazines with the pages stuck together.
Let's hope that Ford can do the same with the EV versions of the Fiesta/Focus replacements.
Cheers!
Good to see an Aussie leading design
Great content Johnny!! Loved the walk around!
I would really find it hard to feign any interest in this thing.
Really great design. Ford are doing great designs at the moment, even the current Focus I think is such a good looking car.
Great video.
Unfortunately I couldn't hear most of what was being said. The camera work and presentation is good as usual though!
watch in on a tv with soundbar, sounds fine here
This thing looks so much better and higher quality than the VW, its kinda shocking. They really didnt do a good job with the id.3
I agree. The ID.4 is quite dull.
Nobody is in this market ??? They’ve basically just made a poor copy of the Volvo Xc40 recharge
"Vegan Leather" Hahaha! It is leather? No! Does it have any leather substance? No!
Thank you Johnny for this excellent video - you certainly have beaten FCed getting into the car :D!
If I saw the Explorer on the road without knowing the badge I'd think it's coming from Landrover...
Looking very good though and I might hold back on my new Kona Electric 2023 order. Very, very tempting!
