- kaOS is a very interesting Linux distribution because it has a very different take on what an operating system must be. Less is more, seems to be the driving philosophy behind this Linux distribution. While most operating systems focus on delivering more and more features, shiny elements, and other bells and whistles, KaOS advertises the absence of all these things. And after using kaOS as my daily driver, I can see why this approach might be really appealing to you. kaOS might just be your next operating system.

@@Janus_Icon 21.1 right ? .... I'm using 21.1 XFCE variant was using Arch lately but then got frustrated over the glitches that roll out and back to Linux Mint ..... Linux mint gives me the peace of mind .... Aint leaving it now hehe ...
@@aer0449 Yep 21.1, although I use the cinnamon desktop environment. I thought about going XFCE myself since its lightweight, but I also like my customization and XFCE whilst able to look good, takes a bit too much work for my liking. Cinnamon is the easy choice I guess.

After using KDE Neon for me there was no going back I... Now every KDE based distros is same

aMEN-- gnome is a CROCK-- takes a moron to "adjust" to that mess.. (and I don't care who agrees or not). THIS looks GOOD... I'll check it out.
KaOS is the system I've used for some time. I leave all the basic preferences in place, save for moving the panel to the bottom, using the "float" option, and making it less wide on my super-wide monitor. The superb documentation taught me how to add Insync for my cloud syncing. KCP is also helpful. Highly recommended if you keep jumping from KDE Neon to Deepin to Fedora to etc!
FYI "most unique" is mot English.
Am I the only one who pronounces it Chaos Linux.

I am on Mint 21.1 right now with Ubuntu Voyager, Kodachi 8.26 and Windows 8.1 to run a few games. I might give this a try on Ventoy,.

Hummm KaOs It looks like there is still a problem with the Dark mode I hope Linux Tex sent that screenshot to the KaOs devs ... the wallpaper is nice yes... the panel on the right No ...for a first impressions look and and feel KaOs didn't work for me ... that first live boot of Solus Plasma looks better than KDE Neon live boot.... I tried it before but I will try it over now.. thanks for the video

I am one of the first users of Redcore linux KDE Plasma, 5.26.4, kernel 6.0.15 and it is OK :) nice presentation of KaOs ... but remaining on Gentoo based...
I'm using Phoenix LiteOS 10 Pro Plus and Remix Os on a 2nd partition.
KDE neon is the beat
i have a problem with old pcmcia driver, still its verry uniqe. its boot on efi real efi.only driver im not sure.
Solus is also from scratch. Both are are very good!

If instead of different user interfaces we focused on compatibility with Windows programs. Linux would have been a very popular operating system a long time ago. Who needs 1001 UI???
Exactly, I found Linux community focused on all the wrong things … Too many distros unnecessarily… An average person buys a pc to get things done, not to tinker with it all day every day…
Who needs 1001 UI? Ask 1001 people, chances are you will get at least 100 different replies......why does it bother you so much? Not everybody wants THE SAME THING, get the one you like and use it, why do you have to make everyone else use just the one you like?

For some reason my touchpad doesn't get detected on kaos. It works perfectly on all other Linux. Not sure why. Any suggestions are welcome

Looking at the website, I see that the flatpack package is installed. So I presume that flatpacks can be installed out of the box.

Nice they are including Qt apps only and call it a minimal OS to compensate for the lack of quality Qt apps but it is something you can reproduce with any Linux distro if you really want to use only Qt apps and Plasma desktop. Being an independent distro does not offer any real value unless they can partner with a hardware company and optimise this distro to run on their hardware but it is very unlikely.
Absolutely. Get yourself, say, a debian core and put plasma on it. It'll boot around 500 max WITH gtk apps and all the bells and whistles if necessary. There goes the "lightweight" dillusion. Those nowadays chrome os spoonfed guys don't have a clue. I even had to keep screenshots of desktops to prove they booted well under 100 mb. But hey, the other day I saw this "elightened" Gnome dev that never heard of xfce, let alone icewm, rox etc...Go figure. O well, if they insist on posting crap like "this is the best and that bollocks..", good for them. And as long it's not about "linux is not inclusive enough, women unfriendly or condescendant towards animals.." ( believe it or not, I saw those vents on certain forums) go ahead, promote it as a daily driver.
Can this 1960 OS adjust windows to content like the 1980 SmallTalk ? Can the disks be filled to full capacity ? Has computing become a big hit with the invention of viruses that hide easily in the mess without pointers of modern OS ?
