It's so frustrating that most videos talked about "only the box", "only the litter medium", which sometimes isn't suitable for the other person's living environment (and budget). That being said, I am still looking for option that doesnt require me to buy a new litter box. I am using the regular box ones. I am considering some kind of mat atm, but that will take up space that can be used for something else.
Pine pellets cover cat poop smell well, but you need to wet some of the pellets so that they break down. The resulting sawdust eliminates odor very well, and the cats prefer using it as it's soft, fluffy, and highly absorbant. Simply remove solids once or twice a day and then discard the sawdust after one week. Cost is significantly less too. Buy hardware store pellet stove pine pellets. They are the same thing and cost $6 for 40 pounds. Literally cheaper than dirt. One bag lasts 3 months.
Im in asia soo those $6 bags dont exist here, $6 will get you only like 5kgs, at that price you can get just typical bentonite litter which lasts longer for the same price...

I'm in MX and I'm using sand, regular sand that I get from the hardware supply/garden center. My neighbour is a carpentar and has a lot of wood planing chips. He gives them to me for free so I add some of that to the sand.
I’ve literally tried everything and when I cam across the Pidan Tofu litter with occult blood my life changed. I have two large Maine Coon cats with paws so large they grab everything. This litter is heavy and shiny so they fall right out of their paws. Now when they go there may be a piece or two compared to EVERYWHERE!
I have 2 Ragdoll cats and I also use Modkat litter boxes. For litter, I have also tried many but I have found "Pretty Litter" to be the best. I give it 10 out of 10 for odor control, 8 out of 10 for cloud/dust, and 7 out of 10 for tracking IF you use the top entry. If you use side entry, I would give it 6 out of 10.
I also use pretty litter, but it’s still dusty just like any other crystal litter. And it tracks everywhere because its crystals are much smaller than standard crystal litter
I’ve used top entry litter boxes for 2 years. The litter still gets tracked and the smell is still there. Unless I use a lightly scented litter, the smell doesn’t stop. Nice this worked for you; it never has for my 2 girls.
I change the litter about once every 3 weeks and that’s when I can clean the tarp. If I am lazy I just throw the tarp out and put a new one. Hope that helps!
@@TheCatButler I had very little tracking beyond the litter box mat with pine pellets however with pine pellets the nuggets are too big to cover up poop and it does not clump.

She did a #2 in the box and there is virtually no smell whatsoever. There’s actually still a whiff of ice cream from the litter box. Hey Jeslin they don't kick off the poop when they jump out of the hole. I am not sure of a cheaper litter box, but my modkat has lasted me since I got my kittens and it still looks like new. Hope that helps!

I didn't know thé top entrance litter. That is playful for cats. I am sure Minouche will appreciate to have to jump but I am not sure Willow can use this... I use sawdust, that is free. I have juste to hold it from the Carpenter. There is no smell, that is thé same as pine litter I think. The bag scare me, I Gear there is a problem when I go working and let m'y Kitty alone, but maybe I Can try this sort pf litter without any bag. Thank you for this Idea, this is more élégant that a classic one.
Yeah so the model I have has a top and side entry. You can choose to have both or strictly just the top entry. I really like the look of it, and people sometimes don't know its a litter box :)

I purchased a litter box with a top entry and helped a little, but the litter just tracks a lot.. This tofu litter does not turn into dust after a while? It keeps its shape? Also I have found tofu pellets for sale, but yours are slimmer, like tofu toothpicks. Is there much of a difference? I want to try this but am affraid the tofu pellets turn into dust, and can't find those thinner for sale here.
Hey yeah the tofu litter does not turn into dust. When it it hits their pee and poop it keep its shape and turns into a pancake or ball. Tofu litter tends to be a little heavier so hence minimal tracking with a top entry litter box. Different brands do have slightly different results, but the difference is how good the clumping is. when I was researching, I picked the Pidan litter because it was praised by everybody in the reviews of its ability to keep its clump. I can verify that is true. But you can check to see what people say in the cons for the tofu litter you are looking at and see if their is a pattern of that being consistently being a problem

Good question! I did look into the automatic cat litter box. I think the two cons I found was it did not solve litter tracking and I wasn't able to monitor their poop and pee for any health concerns. Hope that helps!

hello! i know im 5 months late but just in case you havent got an answer yet and still on the fence about it, tofu litter is legit flushable. its primarily why i made the switch, i have flushed my cats business everyday on average 3x a day for 2 months now and not once has it clogged the toilet... this may be tmi but while were on the subject i would sometimes even wait until i pee myself then scoop my cat's clumped pee and flush it down with my own pee lol, i like to think of it as doing my part in conserving water and minimizing plastic use at the same time, as flushing eliminates disposing in a bag everyday or however often you take out their dirty business. i hope this helps and you make the switch if you havent already!

@@brigittebouchard8173 cats are animals.. not humans. it's the most unnatural way for a cat to use the toilet like we humans do... yeah you can do that but it's not the in the cats favor... usually we/you should care a lot for our/your pets, that's why it's best to treat them like the felines they are. Jackson Galaxy has a YT video about it. He like the most leading cat expert and he gives the biological arguments and reasons. It would be too long for a comment to tell you! :) I highly suggest his YT channel. Even if you don't like all of his tipps, it's still a great source of information :)
It handles pee very well. Once a cat pees the tofu litter clumps it up into a ball. The litter is very good at moisture absorption I usually clean the bag once every month. Hope that helps!

So... have you actually used pine litter? Because we have 3 kittens and it's all we've used so far and our experience has mirrored that of "all about cats" here on TH-cam... it has excellent odor control but tracks and scatters like a son of a biscuit. That single con is what I'm here for. I hate saw dust and it's all over my bed because that's what the pine pellets turn to as soon as it's peed on. You're right that the pine is large... but the saw dust in tiny and covers the poop well and also trax like mad. 😡 Also, the cats do get better at covering with it as they adjust... especially if you give them enough to cover with.
Hey Jeremy when the cats were kittens I did use pine litter called Feline Pine. After they peed the pine litter did turn into saw dust. I think I didn't get much tracking because the modkat litter box did a good job at keeping the saw dust in the litter box and I cleaned the litter box daily. Yeah I guess my kittens never got the chance to learn to cover their poop after I switched cat litters.
@@moreafterthistime that's what we use... but it doesn't go to the bottom on its own... you've gotta pick it up and make space between the sifter and the tub underneath with your fingers and shake it for a few minutes each day to remove all the sawdust. We do that, but they still track sawdust everywhere.
If you feed your cat the right kind of food, they wouldn't poop so often and their poop wouldn't smell so bad. Start at the root of the problem, then you wouldn't have to chase looking for the right kind of litter or litter "system". Your cats are adorable though.
The mail point of this video is about tracking. So even if frequency is reduced one use with excessive tracking is the same issue as frequent use and tracking.
Let's get real. This is definitely not better for the cats. It's better for humans, cats like to see their surroundings when they're doing their business.

New to cat: How often to change the entire litter? How and how often do you clean that tarp lining? Do you do a soap wash on the tarp every so often?
I change the litter about once every 3 weeks and that’s when I can clean the tarp. If I am lazy I just throw the tarp out and put a new one. Hope that helps!

The one I use has a top and side entry. Once they get older you can block the side entry for them to use the top

Is it true this litter can be flushed down the toilet? That's what the page says, have you tried that or just always put it in the trash?
I am usually pretty conservative on making sure my toliet does not clog haha. So I have not tried it. I have only threw it in the trash

How does tofu litter handle pee? It's easy to know when to scoop but hard to know when to change the litter because of the pee.

You should get a sifter litter box so that when it turns to sawdust it goes towards the bottom
@@moreafterthistime that's what we use... but it doesn't go to the bottom on its own... you've gotta pick it up and make space between the sifter and the tub underneath with your fingers and shake it for a few minutes each day to remove all the sawdust. We do that, but they still track sawdust everywhere.

I HATED the pine litter and I don’t recommend it AT ALL!!
If you feed your cat the right kind of food, they wouldn't poop so often and their poop wouldn't smell so bad. Start at the root of the problem, then you wouldn't have to chase looking for the right kind of litter or litter "system". Your cats are adorable though.
The mail point of this video is about tracking. So even if frequency is reduced one use with excessive tracking is the same issue as frequent use and tracking.

Let's get real. This is definitely not better for the cats. It's better for humans, cats like to see their surroundings when they're doing their business.
I throw Laserdiscs in Cat Litter. I throw DVD in Cat Litter. I throw HD-DVD in Cat Litter. I throw bluray discs in Cat Litter. I throw 4k discs in cat Litter. Yes movies are crap and crap movies like star wars belongs in Cat Litter.
