The most prolific concentration of the best pop/rock artists and music and the best and most influential pop culture elements and developments. EVERYTHING that came after the 80s in terms of pop/rock and pop culture bears the unmistakable imprint of the 1980s to an extent that simply isn't true anymore for other decades, not even the 60s and 70s, important as those decades were. And not even the 90s which in my opinion were basically a slicker repackanging of the 80s with better technology and a few relatively minor stylistic variations..
