My therapist said the most fun part of shopping is usually "the hunt" for items themselves, so this is a good way to have fun without overspending

Interesting. I role-play D&D and other similar games. In one system, some people are hunters, and others are gatherers. Maybe the reason we want to shop really comes down to basic instict. Hunt / gather goods. Maybe at it's core it makes us feel like we're doing something useful.

I’ve never really been able to articulate exactly what it is about you and your content that is so appealing to me, but I think I’ve just figured it out. I watch a lot of anti-consumerism content, anti-hauls, etc. but your content actually feels truly applicable. Like you’re actually living the life rather than just preaching it. You balance indulgence and self control so well without surrendering fully to either. Not only that, you give advice and tools I can actually apply to myself and my circumstance. Your content is inspiring and thought provoking rather than stringent and boxed in. You make delayed gratification look elegant and delicious. I hope that makes sense.

I know you've forayed into K-beauty before but if you're looking for pale, desaturated blush it is very trendy right now in Korea and can be found at almost any brand. Romand has a pretty good selection of very pale shades.

Oooh this is perfect timing for me, randomly... I was given a lancôme blush subtil (not a typo lol, c'est le français), I would never buy a $33 barely perceptible blush, but I am loving it as setting powder, am hoping to find a reasonably priced follow up product... Lol everyone thought I was nuts in '08 for wearing benefit Georgia when it was a pale, matte peach...I am so excited to be able to get my longtime favorite product types in all these new brands & shades.

I love your way of explaining, your empathy and the way you manipulate with materials and colors inspire me a lot artistically.

“erase temporarily from my brain the abundance that is already there” - exact description of me drooling over beautiful products online because I already own many beautiful things. Thank you for snapping me out of shopping fever. I recently realized that when I am stressed or anxious I spontaneously start chasing the next best thing (usually fashion and beauty), watching this video I realize that I am not the only one to be seduced by beautiful photography and marketing (so no reason to trash talk myself) but I also have the power to delete my shopping cart and chose a different path. Thank you for being so open and vulnerable about human foibles, we can all help each other chose true abundance and joy using the things we already have. ❤🙂🥰

Velvet Sorcery looks amazing on you!
As a fellow pale olive (although slightly warmer and deeper than you) it feels like such a harmonious vampy colour.
Like it feels like a "your lips but bitten and then soaked in folkloric blood from a forbidden fruit but like a 1000 years ago and now it's dried down to an ancient pigment"
Like it just sits on olive tones like it's meant to be there, probably its mucky undertones.
One thing that I really think helps me fall back in love with old products is almost rebranding them to myself - as in, using shadows to make a 'palette' with a theme and 'renaming' my shadows or mentally renaming a lipstick or blush to go with a vibe I am loving at that moment. Sort of in the way that Kackie has her Fjords cheeks, I think 'rebranding' something in your collection keeps the romance alive.

I did a light version of your declutter at the end of the year. I put all of the palettes that weren't really bringing me joy at the moment away, and only kept an edited collection on my counter. I am amazed by how much that has increased my creativity with my eye looks. Before there were too many palettes to choose from, so I just chose the same one over and over. Now I switch between them almost every day!

90k!!! so well deserved. what I love the most about this look is that yesterday I bought a lipstick from a newly re-released brazilian brand and was kinda let down by the color, since it wasn't really like the swatches have made them to be. but seeing this look, I'm enlightened by the fact that the lipstick actually is much better: a dupe for velvet sorcery, which I've been eyeing for forever and is not only unavailable for shipping to Brazil ,it's also four times the price I paid

Omg Hannah, I know the premise of this video is to abstain from making a new purchase, but the Surratt mascara is legit the best, longest lasting, easiest-to-remove coating with which I have ever adorned my lashes.
Having tried Chantecaille, By Terry, Cle de Peau, and all the other luxe mascara options, it is 💯 superior 😬
Edit: I should say, it doesn’t give immense volume, but I never look for that anyway (priorities are: tint, longevity, and ease of removal).

Your relationship with Pat blush is almost me with blushes and creamy/matte lipsticks (pigmented ones, not balms).
I always think, “oh this lippie looks so good/ I’d like a blush in this color!”
Then I remember that I have at least three powder blushes and a couple of cream products that I either use as blush or are actual blushes. Guess what, I barely use any of them. They all are really cute -theoretically. Practically, I always have to remind myself to use some types of products, and therefore, no amount of new blushes changes that pattern. Sometimes we love the idea of a product rather than the product itself!

Hmmmkay, as a Chanel fan girl, I can tell you that Chanel powder blushes are not highly pigmented. Some colours, like Brume D'Or, can be brighter, but still aren't deeply pigmented. Chanel's aesthetic is classic French style, where colours are pretty much a wash of colour that can be built up a bit. I heartily suggest Orchid Rose, Elegance and Reflex for you. They are slightly warm, dusty colours that I imagine would suit you.

I think you might enjoy the new Lauren Mercier foundation. It's incredibly light weight with a skin like finish but it has more pigments than a skin tint but it's not high coverage.

The WA skin tint is straight OIL. it’s so thick and oily if you don’t like squalane, stay away! I prefer the Chantecaille tinted moisturizer.
Also the VB bronzer is beautiful but also very fragile! Mine had no pan spots but shattered in my luggage (even wrapped in a glossier bubble wrap bag). That said, it’s beautiful but I won’t be repurchasing, even just a refill. I’m will be replacing my Westman Atelier bronzer though! That formula is special.
EDIT: also the Chanel blushes used to be beautiful but I’m still in mourning since they reformulated them!

I'm shook by the difference between Chanel blush pictures. They look completely different. I'm now going to always cross check websites when checking colors
