  • In the 1840s the land that would become Saint Croix falls, WI was indirectly settled by Scandinavian and Germens. After the increase of logging, and the founding of the Cushing Land Company, Saint Croix Falls became incorporated in Wisconsin during 1887. The logging industry became important in St Croix falls, attracting New England Immigrants which started a chain reaction of cutting down vast amounts of white pine. sending them down the saint Croix river and the Mississippi river. From the late 1890s on the logging industry died down, the last log going down the Saint Croix log mill in 1914. Making St. Croix falls a more agricultural town, and officially becoming a city in 1958.

Our pleasure! I love exploring those out of the way places and find so much beauty and fun things to do in smaller towns and cities. St. Croix Falls was beautiful!

@@WanderingWalksofWonder - I hope you'll come back again soon. The leaves are beautiful along the river right now. Updates: the large building across from the overlook called the Civic Auditorium is currently being renovated and the exterior was just painted. It looks amazing. It is on the national registry of historic places and should open in the Spring of 2024.
We've sold 2 of the boarded-up buildings on Main Street to private parties who will be renovating them and opening businesses in them in 2024. We tore down the 3rd boarded-up building that was considered blight. By the end of October 2023, we will have completed a road project that will connect trails going from Wisconsin's Interstate Park on the south end of the city through town and along the river, through the overlook park, past the National Park Headquarters, all the way to Lion's Park on the north side of the city. We just removed pit toilets and installed new fully functional restrooms at Lion's Park.
If you do come back, let me know and I'll give you a proper guided walking tour with the Mayor.
Have a great day and thanks for visiting our city! ~Mayor Kirk Anderson
