Hey! Aruban here, though I wasn't living on the island when Ms. Holloway disappeared. This video is fairly accurate as far as all the information I know from my friends who were around. The only additional insight I can add is that the police and other authorities were very inexperienced with murder/disappearances and they made some mistakes early on. However, they suspected Joran very quickly, as you portray, and they gathered a lot of evidence, but just like in the US, it's nearly impossible to convict someone without a body. I've also heard for years that Joran's father advised him to tell the "truth" to multiple people and to make the "truth" different in order to create reasonable doubt. You portrayed that very well in this video. I do know that both Aruban and Dutch authorities hope that one day they will be able to find enough evidence to bring Joran to trial, but they just don't want to risk a double jeopardy situation.
sdl1ishappy hey thanks for the insight. Im curious, do you know if Joran was literal when he said they went to watch sharks? Like can you go to the beach in Aruba and watch sharks swim freely? Would be fun for a psychopath to push someone off a pier, im sure.
I'd imagine the 3 of them probably had a go on her, but Joran took it to the next level. We know he's capable of murdering someone because he since has.
I know. I remember watching it on the news when it happened. Since then, I’ve been married and divorced, graduated from college and moved to a new city. Time flies.
12:15 "Why does this shit always happen to me?" 🙈 Yeah, we've all been there, Joran: a person we're chilling with just mysteriously dies so we have to throw their body in the ocean. I hate when that happens! 🤨 I honestly believe he has killed more than the 2 girls we know about.....
There are probably remains like that just about everywhere you go, especially since they can sit for decades. Everybody dies and some percentage of those people don't end up with proper funerary arrangements, they have to end up somewhere.
I'm from Alabama and had taken the same trip 4 years prior to Natalie disappearing. That entire trip is a blur. I'm still surprised no one died from alcohol poisoning. Some came really close though. You're in full party mode. Easy to see how she was taken advantage of. It could have happened to any of us as we were very easy prey and completely vulnerable. Drunk kids in a strange place. Still so sad to think about what happened to her.
Even though it is pretty clear she is probably dead, I really hope the family gets some sort of information at some point so they can finally have some closure. Also I heard the students partying got so out of hand the hotel told them they weren’t welcome next year.
@@aprilhinds1827 yea. My whole thing is...there were serious substances being consumed and at that young age disaster. Wrong place and time to be inebriated
I guess we are in a different socioeconomic class because we went to the beach, three hours away. My daughter graduated a couple years ago and they went to the same one. Myrtle Beach.
My senior trip was similar. Most people's judgment is poor when intoxicated anyway but on top of that, I think there's a false sense of security being in a beautiful tourist location, as though ugly things can't happen in lovely settings.

Something important that you keep out of this video Mike, is that Dutch Journalist Peter R De Vries had done huge amount investigations and has asked that 'businessman' to get close to Joran to get a confession. Peter R De Vries was a huge factor in solving the case and had a close connection with Nathalie's family.

Louie Nah, the one where he didn't know he was being filmed is at least saying he got rid of the body so he placed himself at the scene of the crime and admitted he disposed of the body. he just didn't go as far as to say that he raped and killed her.
Had she lived, Natalee would be 32 or 33 years old now. A medical professional, likely a Doctor and would have contributed greatly to society. Despite the lack of actionable evidence, I think its clear who was responsible. My hope is that someday her remains are found so she may be put to rest and her family may have some closure and peace.
More likely, she would have twisted her ankle at 25 and end up on opioids prescribed by her doctor the meth and then the slow death on the streets. Just as possible as the other outcome. Mine is not as Rosey.
@@manjsher3094 i thought the same except after her injury it was heroin then prostitution...your so right u can't say what someone could've been. That's like saying everyone gets exactly what they deserve....not true

Thank you for the great chronological order of your story about Natalie. I know how tiny Aruba is and it was so unfortunate for her parents not being able to properly put Natalie's remains to rest (as they would have wanted to). I believe she was killed and taken on a boat into the ocean (this is why the FBI could not fine anything). Joran as you stated is a Psychopath and has enjoyed tormenting Natalie's Mother and all the others whom loved her so dearly. At the end Joran has proven his guilt as far as I am concerned. A tragic end to Natalie's story and all the contribution she would have made to her community.
I grew up in eastern Oklahoma, hearing the scary stories of the Girl Scout Murders. It wasn't until not that long ago that I watched a doc on the whole thing, the trial, etc. It has a lot of similarities with the OJ case as far as the acquittal, he was even a high school football star. The manhunt for him was crazy, it took an Indian OSBI agent to actually find him. I'd like to see some more on it as well, it's one of those crazier than fiction stories, and incredibly tragic.
Yes Mike...please do one on the Girl Scout murder. I watched a video about it the other day. Mike would do it well. Love The Chapter. Keep up the good work my friend.
That Chapter is definitely my favorite channel right now, especially amongst those in the true crime genre. The conciseness, clarity, wide range of subjects, and your delivery is unmatched. I hope the channel blows up. Getting eyeballs on these cases does a positive service to the families of those involved. Thank you for that. If you ever have time, I think your take and synopsis of the Delphi murders and/or the Evansdale case would be very interesting and beneficial in spreading those girls’ stories.
Like it's not bad enough to lose a child but to have to go through all that and listen to a psychopath and see him earning through your pain, it would destroy most people.
It was inappropriate for 125 recent high school graduates, mostly 17 and 18 years old to be allowed to go on this trip to a foreign country with only 7 unofficial chaperones.
"Inappropriate?" So, If it was Florida instead of Aruba....is that ok? Who are you blaming? If you're 18 and have the money you can do what you want.....If you're 17, I imagine you need some sort of parental consent......Big point is, I'm sure most of these students got the money FROM THEIR PARENTS! so........
@DonkeyLips McGee good looking? Lol. Also just because she approached him in the casino doesn't mean she wanted to have sex with him. there's a pretty big chance they all wanted to have sex and I seriously doubt she wanted to have sex with 3 strangers. If only Joran was involved the other 2 would have ratted him out way earlier, this is definitely a group effort.
It's more likely that he sold her to someone. Or that he tried to but she overdosed. Either way she is probably no longer alive today. Her story is a lesson about being cautious and always sticking with your friends on holiday. It's all fun and games until someone disappears off the face of the Earth.

Her friends did try to get her out of the car especially one guy he went up to the window and demanded that Natalie get out but she was so out of it she never heard him..He said Joran made some nasty remark, and then told him that Natalie wanted to go home with him..
Such an evil young man, empowered by his father and his connections. What kind of parent would cover up for murder? He's caused so much heartache to these two families. But on a lighter note - I'm glad that woman managed to stop her attacker in his tracks. Permanently.

They did. There were multiple search warrants and confiscation of property, including his laptop/computer. The bad thing was that since his father was a known lawyer and had certain connections in law enforcement, they somehow managed to get a heads up each time. That's as far as I remember.

I concur

Thanks for your thoughts on this!

Big LOl. Correct
I'd imagine the 3 of them probably had a go on her, but Joran took it to the next level. We know he's capable of murdering someone because he since has.
it doesn't seem possible that this happened FIFTEEN YEARS ago. smh
I know. I remember watching it on the news when it happened. Since then, I’ve been married and divorced, graduated from college and moved to a new city. Time flies.
I thought it was much longer.
I know. Seems like yesterday.
Given how useless the authorities in Aruba seem, would not surprise me at all
Joran was / is a grandiose narcissist. They are the worst most dishonest people there are besides psychopaths malignant narcissists
I so often end up in the comments while watching that I have to rewatch it all again 🤣
What the hell goes on in Aruba? Finding jaw bones on the beach?
I wouldn't go there for any amount of money.
So sad that there are so many bones that are not identified and were dug up on Aruba. Who are all of those people ?
Another good one Mike. Thank you.
Also perhaps really old ones
There are probably remains like that just about everywhere you go, especially since they can sit for decades. Everybody dies and some percentage of those people don't end up with proper funerary arrangements, they have to end up somewhere.
Partiers
Right! They all deserve to be named. In every way possibly they should be testing to see who these people are and possibly what happened to them.
Most of those bones were animal bones and Indian bones ages old. Get your research right. People don't get murdered on the island that much jeeszz
It boggles my mind how a trip like this got the green light to begin with.

Another thing... Too many a human remain found on Aruba beaches, right? There's more to that island than the usual.
I'll 2ND the request for Mike to cover "The Oklahoma Girl Scout Murders"
I was supposed to be at that camp, but last minute change of plans saved me.

@DonkeyLips McGee good looking? Lol.
