Kala talking while they were cutting her chain, sounded like she had gone over and over it in her head so she wouldn’t forget anything he did. So glad she was found
The part when she said about him saying she could be his partner if she was good was pretty disturbing. You can see the disgust and fear as she shakes her head. Hope she will be able to move past that
She sounded pretty relaxed and calm, as if she had just woken up from sleep in her own bed in her own house. No wonder he kept her, she was so calm and compliant with everything.
I hope that girl gets all the counseling, money, love, and whatever it takes to heal as she needs. Continuously for the rest of her life. This is the part of life you will never forget unfortunately.
She seems extremely brave. She spoke with composure and gave very clear, and precise information despite having gone what she went through... I don't know if I would have been able to speak that clearly as she did. Maybe her composure is what helped her to survive. She was able to think clearly, instead of blubbering and annoying/frustrating her captor enough to make him want to kill her...
Incredibly impressive that Kala was able to list off all that information that quickly to the police as soon as they got there! She must've been practicing for that exact moment while trapped in there. Which also means that she was able to hold out at least some degree of hope of being found; I don't know if I'd be able to do that. That's incredible! What an astounding, strong woman.
Exactly. I guess she was counting on having some very small window of opportunity to relay that information to someone like a 911 operator or anyone who can help find her later. I just love the way she keeps calm on the outside and everything. But an experience like this is bound to give you PTSD no matter how tough you are.
@@darthnegrus9255 well, yeah, there's always worse. But the chains around the neck, the threats of death and the forced sex with the guy who shot your significant other don't make it a 5 star hotel either.

@@anthonyhutchins2300 I agree she probably repeated that in her head millions of times. My guess is she was obviously worried she was gonna be killed and was afraid she would be in bad shape by the time they found her. She wanted that info ready to be told.
Trauma causes memory to be stored differently and when you recall a traumatic memory it's more like reliving it live than recalling the past like a movie. This is what PTSD can be about: reliving the trauma and feeling like that past trauma is still really ongoing. She was also likely dissociative to some extent due to shock.
@Ken Richard Surviving is the definition of boss, dude. A lot of people wouldn't be able survive what she went through. She did what she had to do to stay alive. And later testifying in court in front of him? Holy shit, that took guts!
I’m amazed by the toughness of this girl She didn’t let herself breakdown emotionally when she was found, kept a clear head and told them everything she knew that could put that man away for good as soon as possible
She probably unleashed a whole lot of her grief and anger during the months that she was locked up in that box before she stopped asserting herself to survive. If anything, the moment she heard multiple voices outside coming to her aid, I wouldn’t be surprised if she got ridiculously emotional and happy before taking a breath and readying her tale to take the monster down. Strong lady.

Jonathan Brown Some ass walked into a Nashville Waffle House (he was naked, winter-time). He wasn’t a local, he came here from Indiana or Illinois. He shot and killed 4 employees.
I don't think he's actually killed anyone else. Anyone who thinks the public would be impressed by how fast he murdered a roomful of unsuspecting people would def. lie about killing more people to seem "cool".
Yeah, I've seen this misconception in many people: that rape is only the brutal, by physical force thing. Rape can be no matter how gentle, as long as there's coercion involved. And what he was telling her, that if she says no means she's no longer useful so he will kill her is exactly that: coercion. He was basically telling her "have sex with me or I'll kill you" and in his mind, that's not rape. Unfortunately, as I said, it's a surprisingly common misconception.
This isn't uncommon reasoning for murderers and such. They'll admit to the less morally offensive. Offensive to themselves or others. Like minimizing their actions. "It's ok that I killed him but the necrophilia wasn't cool. Lets omit that."
@sean vougue it's just an irrational way of thiinkin for mentally disturbed killers. They compartmentalize. Minimize and use distorted thought processes to help them deal with it .
@@ihatecrackhead Wtf? You either completely misread what I wrote or you're trolling. Or you have a very warped mentality. It's not to "trick", it's *coercion* . It's *forcing* someone to have sex when they don't want to through other means than physical violence: through different types of threats, more or less explicit. In this case he says: you can say no, but then I will kill you. So she doesn't say no, but only because the consequence of that is death. Where's the trick? That's exactly the thing, there is no trick, there is a very clear statement of what will happen if she says no, sth that anyone would want to avoid, therefore her choice in the matter is manipulated by making option 2 (no sex) horrible and in those circumstances there can't be consent, therefore = rape. I don't even know if I understood you, the 2 sentences you wrote are 2 different things. I'll take just the first, which is very clear and, if sincere, means you have a messed up mentality: that rape by coercion only applies to women. So if a dude is not in the mood, or feeling sick or just not into that particular woman and she puts a gun to his head and says if he won't have sex with her, she'll kill him - to you, that's not rape?!? Because this is exactly the kind of mentality that's the problem and that makes victims struggle to get justice.

@POOR PIRANO, well aren't you a adorable. Sociopathy is "another deal"? Is that your precise diagnostic term from the 50's, lol? If you're going to bluster around about terms like a flopping fish, you might want to be informed about how they are actually defined and assessed in the field. They are used interchangeably. And the symptoms result from specific deficits in the brain. So you keep flopping honey. Maybe someone will think you're all tough and weighty, LOL!
@POOR PIRANO, Hey Folks reading this, people with psychopathy are born with a brain structure that is different from the general population. Parts of the pre-frontal cortex and the amygdala are missing and the neurotransmitters misfire or fire incorrectly (to simplify). At this point, it appears to run in families genetically. It can be excacerbated by certain triggers. For example, similar symptoms appear in people who suffer extreme sensory deprivation and abuse from infancy, such that their central nervous systems don't develop properly. Notice that I made a brief, straightforward (and accurate) comment about the fact that parenting is not the main issue with psychopathy. Note the immediate, ridiculous, exaggerated response of @poor pirano. He's either not well, a total asshole, or maybe both. Notice reading a simple a paragraph was too much for him as he likened it to reading 10 pages. I would feel sorry for him/her except for the immediate shitty attack behavior.
I watched a documentary on this man. His mom and dad divorced when he was a kid. His dad remarried and moved pretty far away and was very rarely in his sons life. His mom couldn’t quit getting married and divorced and married and divorced (I think it was 4 or 5 times). One time she left her son with his father to go on her honeymoon, and then decided she wasn’t coming back home at all. She just didn’t want to deal with him anymore and wanted to live HER life now. His dad didn’t want him living with him and his family, I think he ended up staying a year or less. He didn’t see his mother at all during that time. In the documentary she kept saying “But he’s not a monster. He’s just had some problems...but he’s NOT a monster”. The rest of his family broke all ties with him. His mother was the only person he had. She passed away many years ago. Now he sits there, completely alone and he only has his own thoughts to keep him company, wondering how long he has to live and the Hell he is having to endure every-single-moment-of-every-single-day. Sounds just like what his victims went through. It some how seems just and fitting.
what was she supposed to do exactly? She locked him in his room at night. Locked herself in her room. There is no where to just take your troubled kid for someone to fix. He is a violent psychopath. There is no therapy to cure that.

Yeah that interview with his mom reminds me of interviews with Jeffery Dahmer's mother. They act like there were no signs that there was anything wrong with the killer as a child... But then proceed to tell us the fucked up shit they did as a kid. Like they have this "oh well, nothing I could do about it" kind of mentality. " He stabbed her, but it wasnt very deep." Like.... Its also terrifying knowing everything is tracked. All correspondences are recorded forever. Its a blessing when it helps solve a horrific crime, especially when it saves a life, but it does infringe on our "inalienable rights".
Always found it very odd how a murderer can get a "plea bargain" to save their life but when their victim was "pleading" for their life no mercy was given
It’s the justice system’s way of moving things along quicker. It’s not to spare the murderer. It’s to close the case so the state is a little less backed up. Especially when it’s a situation like this where they knew he wasn’t going to win.

I have a friend who's property backed up to his. Her daughter told her Mom that he had brought a shipping container to the property and it didn't seem right. They alerted the police, from what I understand, they found nothing at the time. They said he was creepy and they heard gunshots and saw lights on there at odd times of night. If you see something, say something. It could save a life. I live in this area, and I'm gonna say....it rocked us for a while. We have the best sheriff and law enforcement officers around!
poor you both...what a thing to have to know of. Lucky it is a rare occurrence so you can sleep better now. I lived backing on to a national park and in Australia gun ownership is exceptionally low in the major cities except among cops and criminals. I would hear gunshots at midnight close to the houses...Police would say it was likely hunters after kangaroos (illegal in itself, they are protected). In Australia there are many bodies in unknown graves in bush land because it is so hard to find them off the beaten track. Few people go off the path because of snakes. I was also told this by a forensic patient in hospital once...he waved his hand at the bush I lived near that also abutted onto the hospital and told me so! Spooky.
"Her daughter told her Mom that he had brought a shipping container to the property and it didn't seem right" "They alerted the police, from what I understand, they found nothing at the time" This sounds like a story to me. What exactly "Didn't seem right" about buying a shipping container and moving it to your property? Is having a shipping container illegal? And why, supposedly, did the police go out to his property? Someone calls the police and says "a man brought a shipping container to his property, you'd better investigate?" WTF? Investigate what? What law did he break in buying a shipping container? How did the cops get a judge to sign a search warrant for that? No crime was committed. I'm sorry, but the whole story sounds bizarre.
Don Miller it could be because of how he placed it on the property. We bought a shipping container and use it for storage. It’s not suspicious because it’s next to a barn and obviously placed for convenience and accessibility. But a lot of properties in this part of the country have inconvenient and remote corners that it would be weird to place a shipping container because it’s not clear why it would be there. Especially as they are really heavy and difficult to move - making it very expensive, btw; so you’d have to have a really specific & important reason to pay to have it placed in a remote corner of your property. Couple that with being ‘that weird creepy guy’ who makes everyone uncomfortable and you’ve got neighbors giving the side eye and calling law enforcement.
@@CornbreadOracle "Couple that with being ‘that weird creepy guy’ who makes everyone uncomfortable and you’ve got neighbors giving the side eye and calling law enforcement" Here's the thing though, it doesn't matter where he placed the container on his property, in a remote corner or on his roof, it doesn't matter. There is no law that says if you buy a metal shipping container you must place it (only here). Another thing. If the police get called to this man's property because some neighbor didn't like where he placed the container, the cops cannot look in the container without a warrant. And they can't get a warrant unless a judge signs it. A judge will not sign off on a warrant just because Joe Nosy from across the street thinks "you're creepy". The cops have to have reasonable suspicion that a law has been broken. What law was broken by buying a container and placing it on your property? I think the story was made up.

I know it seems like he should have been under arrest but he possibly wasn’t. I have had police use of force training and handcuffs don’t always mean arrest. In that type of situation they can just legally detain you without placing you under arrest. If they hear banging and there is a threat of possible harm they can handcuff you as a precaution. That officer stating “You’re under arrest” is protecting theirselves from potential legal loopholes.

he said he "didn't believe in rape" but you agree with using humans as sex slaves against their will which is ......... rape
Minimize and use distorted thought processes to help them deal with it .

rape by coercion only applies to women, if a girl trick a man into sex and admits it, it wouldn't count

Murderers mom says, "he stabbed her, but not that deep." Parenting at it's finest.
Tony G, psychopathy is a brain dysfunction. Wasn't caused by the parents.
At night, when he went to sleep, she would lock his bedroom door first, then her own. If you've ever wondered what the parent of a serial killer would be like? That's it.

You got to love criminals. They literally find the victim on his property Chained and locked in a storage container and he still says Nope wasn't me. don't know what you're talkin about
I mean, from a legal standpoint, doesn’t matter how obviously ridiculous it sounds, never ever give the cops a damn thing. Ever. They’re never ever on your side. The whole, “tell us so we can help you” utter bs. They don’t have the authority in any capacity to help you. They can’t even arrest you for something like this without getting permission from a judge. They have zero power to influence any legal outcome, aside from telling the prosecutor, “hey, he helped us out. Here’s a rock solid conviction for you.” My theory, with I wish more people would follow, they’re detectives, it’s quite literally their job to detect the truth. Don’t do their job for them.

I love how you bring to light 99% of cases no one has ever heard of. Congratulations on a million subscribers! Keep up the good work Mike.
Spooky.
whose
"Her daughter told her Mom that he had brought a shipping container to the property and it didn't seem right"
"They alerted the police, from what I understand, they found nothing at the time"
This sounds like a story to me. What exactly "Didn't seem right" about buying a shipping container and moving it to your property? Is having a shipping container illegal?
And why, supposedly, did the police go out to his property? Someone calls the police and says "a man brought a shipping container to his property, you'd better investigate?"
WTF?
@@CornbreadOracle "Couple that with being ‘that weird creepy guy’ who makes everyone uncomfortable and you’ve got neighbors giving the side eye and calling law enforcement"
Here's the thing though, it doesn't matter where he placed the container on his property, in a remote corner or on his roof, it doesn't matter.
