That "red folder" tactic is so smart. My parents did something similar when I was younger. If any adult were to ever try to convince me to go with them somewhere (pick me up from school/sports), we had a code word. 30 years old now and it never changed.
I knew immediately he wasn't behind it because of that, that was raw emotion and sadness and panic and trauma, lots of these cases where it IS the husband/boyfriend, they try to fake cry and you can see it almost instantly
@H N I’m going off the information we were given in the video, the information that made him a suspect when she went missing. And yeah, I do think it’s bad to say.. why is that your first thought? You hear someone is hurt and you automatically jump to “well what did they do to deserve it?” Why assume that being hit and cheated on was something she brought on herself? Why give him the benefit of the doubt when the only info we have is that he hurt her? That’s a weird take.
@H N I never said he isn’t allowed to be sad, in fact I said I’m sorry for his loss. I’m saying I don’t think she should have had “many more years with him” because as a survivor of domestic violence once they start hitting you in the face it tends to escalate from there. It’s not a gender thing, if your partner escalated to physical violence there’s a good chance it will continue to escalate. The police know that, that’s why he was a suspect in the first place.

Public defenders don't care, he was probably eager to have him plead guilty so he could be done with him. Public defenders almost always want you to just take a plea deal.
@@jillgarlick2122 before negotiating a plea deal lawyers will have you plea not guilty at your arraignment so it gives them time to take a look at discovery. Later on prosecutors office will call the defense attorney and offer a plea deal for a lower sentence depending on the gravity of the crime and the ‘grade’ the defendant receives on their presentencing report. *I was a paralegal for a federal public/private defense attorney
Speaking as a lawyer, that’s something I wish true crime programs reflected more accurately. There can be many strategic reasons to plead not guilty that the defense attorney is obligated to advise in order to do their job of zealously advocating for their client. It’s not personal and it’s not about the defendant being an asshole. The defendant might be/probably is an asshole, but it’s not fair to blame them for following their lawyer’s advice and it’s not fair to blame the lawyer for doing their job.

I was selling real estate when this happened, and remember being surprised she’d meet a new buyer alone. We were trained to always meet at the office, to get photo ID and leave a copy of that in the office, and make sure you are seen by others. I actually walked a potential client out the door and locked it, because he didn’t have proper ID. He tried to come after me, claiming discriminated, but when I explained my side of the story the association agreed I behaved appropriately. I was easily able to disprove discrimination when I presented copies of the phot IDs that I got from other clients. While I blacked out their information, it was obvious I served clients of all races. At the end of the day a realtor is an independent contractor, who is under no obligation work with anyone who makes them uncomfortable. I’m glad her son is working to improve safety, and I’m sure lives have been spared because of it.

Does that mean you carry a pistol? Its the only thing that i would feel safe with. I'm from Australia and we don't have much gun culture here so im clueless about permits. Obviously it means you can have a gun that isn't visible on you but do you take it to your listings?
Having a gun in your purse in the car does not guarantee protection and to be honest statistics show that 90% of people who have guns for protection can’t make the split second judgment of how or when to use it

I never understand when these "criminal masterminds" have sending text messages as part of their plan to not get caught but cannot be bothered to go through messages to get a sense of how their victims texts so they can at least mimic it right. The "red folder" thing which is a codeword that the agents would use during emergencies I can't imagine he'd know that unless he really did his due diligence and read every single message on his phone and saw that "red folder" was used during emergent situations. Also kudos to the employee who had the idea to send that message because it instantly confirmed that it wasn't her, but honestly the fact she said she was out drinking with friends when her husband and everyone who knew her knew she didn't drink was probably enough to prove it just on its own.

That "red folder" tactic is so smart. My parents did something similar when I was younger. If any adult were to ever try to convince me to go with them somewhere (pick me up from school/sports), we had a code word. 30 years old now and it never changed.
Should always have something in place. "Hey, did you pay the electric bill on time" is always a good one.

I know right?!
I cannot imagine losing my partner of 15yrs. I'd be devastated and so lost 😥
I knew immediately he wasn't behind it because of that, that was raw emotion and sadness and panic and trauma, lots of these cases where it IS the husband/boyfriend, they try to fake cry and you can see it almost instantly
He hit her in the face and cheated on her. I’m sorry for his loss and wish she was alive but I don’t think he should’ve got her back tbh.

@@Sickoflife what about defence attorneys who help to free those wrongly accused? don't act as though all of them are just defending guilty people, or even if a defence attorney helped a guilty person get off that they then would only defend also guilty people. it's case-by-case and lawyer-by-lawyer. don't paint every defence attorney one colour
@@novatalking My comment doesnt say ALL defense attorneys. It says the ones that help GUILTY people get away with shit. Like when they are so obviously guilty like the OJ or Trump or the douchebag in this video. Maybe reread my comment instead of glossing over it before replying.
@@Sickoflife They don't help them get away with anything. They make sure they get honest and due process. Even if they know they're guilty, they're there to make sure they get hit with the right charges and know what they're up against in the justice system. I know you're thinking emotionally because it's a murder, but everyone deserves a fair trial and representation so they're not exploited.
I live within minutes of where the body was found and it’s scary. I remember when this was all over my radio and television. A lot of things happen here that no one ever speaks of. I am a former deputy and there is more capital murder than you think. There’s a reason Little Rock is Top 10 most dangerous cities in America. The movement of drugs, human trafficking, and murder is insane. But hey, if you want to be a Little Rock police officer you get a $5,000 sign on bonus!!
Hey Mike, great vid! You should cover Katherine Knight if you can. Australia's first woman to be sentenced to life imprisonment. Only a little cannibalism involved. As an aussie would love to see some horror tales from the motherland! Keep it up, mate.
😦😦😦
I just listened to Morbids cover of this case in their podcast, and it's a tough one.
Just a little. Gourmet cannabilism. She worked at an abbotoir, knew how to properly butcher and prepare the dish. Cooked with care and gentle simmering.
A dab hand at the ol' leatherwork interior design too.
Bad boy Bubby on Netflix this month too! Everyone needs to watch this absolute gem. The incest made me wince but don’t let that put you off. Fabulous dark humour.
Having a preliminary meeting between the realtor and the buyers in a public is a really great idea. I'm glad her son goes around teaching them things like that and more. He is a literal life saver.
hey everybody, quick side note... I volunteer for my local EMS station. I'm an attendant/driver and we have a similar system. if any of the EMTs feel "off" about a situation, they'll ask me to go get the the "purple bag" from the rig. we have lots of bags, none are purple. that's code for "call the troopers".
Should not have posted that.
@@elavke5441 sure he should have. it's an example. and he didn't say where, and the liklihood that a would be perp would read this, also be in his town, AND it be with that PARTICULAR EMS station (bcuz some cities and towns have multiple EMS companies), and commit a crime where the code would be used is extremely small. you are being paranoid. think. if just one of those factors fall away, it's a great safety mechanism. think.
Just had to get my early morning fill of horror as delivered with tongue-in-cheek Mike humor and as usual it did not disappoint. Thanks, Mike!
The fake out in the middle LITERALLY made me laugh out loud
Me too! That was hilarious!! 😂
Same!
I never understand when these "criminal masterminds" have sending text messages as part of their plan to not get caught but cannot be bothered to go through messages to get a sense of how their victims texts so they can at least mimic it right. I mean you just draw more attention to how everything isn't right to their friends and family.
Everyone talking about how stupid the guy is, but no one's talking about how simple yet horrific Beverly's death was: duct taped and left to slowly suffocate.
It was horrific! I just saw this video today, and that’s got to be one of the worst ways to die. So sad! 💔. That guy was a coward! 🤮
Because we took in the information and chose a lighter point within this story to dwell on publicly while internally digesting the horror.
The intro reminded me of this joke:
what did Tennessee?
The same thing Arkansas
I’ll show myself out. Great vid, as usual.
