by the way, DON"T EVER USE the ghost name unless you located the ghost activity FIRST. Once you found the room, ask the question without the ghost name, after that get the salt, crucifix in that area. Locate the safe room first before you call out the ghost name. Only way the crucifix works is when you have to place the crucifix on the ground before the hunts start

The crucifix also only works twice and it covers an area about four meters. Saying the name just pisses the ghost off its best used when asking " Give us a sign " doesn't give anything. A mad ghost is easier to find but also hunts more. So try to keep them happy.
Yeah, and also the ghost has access to your mic the whole time, even if u don't push-to-talk ingame. So be careful for what you're saying, and don't literally say a word during hunt phase, when you're hiding.
Icy always scared when he plays scary games that's why he watch other people play scary games like Allen Isolation when Icy said that he played 2 years but nothing happened to him but he watch someone else play it and IGP was like seriously well to me that Icy put the level on easy so he won't deal scary parts.
I would like it if they had more death animations and death models outside of rotting hands snapping your neck/jabbing your eyes out. Like say if its a demon a clawed hand grasps the side of your head twists your neck to the side to look into ita grinning face before your die, or a Revenant kill on a player the player will be strangled to death, then Oni or other ghosts may kill the player with floating knives or other sharp objects. Because after you die once or twice it gets a bit cheesy when the ghost wiggles their fingers as they prepare to diddle your eyes.

The Crucifix only prevents the ghost from *starting* a Hunt in a certain area. It doesn't work when you hold it, but rather when you place it down in an area. Within a certain distance of the Crucifix, the Ghost cannot initiate hunts. If it tries to, a charge is spent on the item, and it negates that particular hunt. That's why you generally want to be preventative with Crucifixes, by placing them in areas that are either necessary pathways to hiding places, or hiding places themselves, so the Ghost can't ambush you before you can get to a good hiding spot. (Doubly so with Revenants which can chase a player very quickly and catch them before they could hide if they're not prepared.) It's also important to note that Hunts don't really have all that much to do with the Ghost's "room" so to speak. They can trigger Hunting anywhere, so while it may be useful, it doesn't actually mean you're all that safe while gathering evidence. It just makes it more difficult for the Ghost to reach you in a good amount of time. Or give you time to shut doors to keep the ghost out. If the Hunt has already started, the ghost is not affected by the Crucifix at all. Similarly, the ghost can manifest for the purposes of scares without being affected by the Crucifix. So popping up in shadow form, or touching objects aren't affected. It's just when it hunts a player. It's not bugged, it's just not nearly as powerful as people think it is. Same with Smudge Sticks. They're more of a preventative item than anything else. You'd want to pop them when you think you're running the risk of angering the ghost. If you're near them with the stick active, it'll calm the area down a bit and the ghost will be less likely to activate a Hunt. One item prevents Hunts from starting in that location, and the other lowers the activation chances for a short while. Together, they're your best defense against a ghost as your Sanity dwindles. Very great info right here dude! Can confirm is accurate. I do want to add one thing, a smudge stick used right at the start of a hunt before the ghost has spawned will give you a few extra seconds to go run and hide before it spawns. It's not very long at all, but can be huge at times, especially with Revenants or large empty rooms.
Man, watching these two play this game is so much scarier than watching other braver youtubers play, because you can totally feel their fear. When creepy shit starts happening and they start freaking out, you feel it. That panic is REAL man

TIP: When the temperature is cold in a room ( 10 degrees and below ) it means the ghost is in that room or if it is the hallway then it is the hallway. But if you see your breath or other player's breath then that counts as evidence ' FREEZING TEMPERATURE ', too double-check you may use the thermometer as it will pick up negative numbers ( -1, etc ). But if you see your own breath then that obviously counts as the evidence known as Freezing Temperature. Also when in the hunting stage you must hide which lowers the chances of death. You will know when it goes into the hunting stage as your flashlights will start flashing and on the Spirit Box sometimes it will address the words " Kill ", " Death " or " Die ". This also can mean it is about to go into hunting mode. Hope this helped :)! Edit: Was going to comment this on your last video but I feel like this comment suited this video a little more :)
As a general bit of advice, yeah the Thermometer is really only good for sweeping, not for verifying temperature. It helps you spot the cold spots more easily, but if they have the Freezing Temperature evidence, you can spot it without the tool. Think of it as a tool for spotting, and verifying, but not absolutely necessary. No one tool is ever gonna carry you through the entire mission. And yeah, as @Bioshock said, hiding is the way to go. If your lights start to flicker and your radio stops working, you need to find a place to hide ASAP. That's what Crucifixes are great for, since they ensure a hunt cannot start within a certain distance of a spot. Drop them in your designated hiding spot, and stay there, lights off, and wait. Don't talk, and be patient. You HAVE to break LoS on the ghost and get a door between you and it. That's really your only way to evade it. Once the hunt starts, nothing really protects you besides stealth. Other than that though, gotta be honest I absolutely understand the terror from this game. It does such a good job of worming into your head and making you scare of every little detail. Not to mention you have to tempt fate and get the ghost to trigger things for evidence, meaning you can't just immediately get a verdict. You *have* to piss it off a bit. Still love these videos, and even if we've got a bit of cowardice, it's nice to see some people actually treat it as spooky and not just go in all big dick energy.
Yeah, we really need the youtubers playing this to HIDE when it hunts, instead of running to the door and trying to open it. Seriously though, through trial and error the last 10 times the ghost has hunted the door has been locked. Why do they expect it to be openable this time?
@@wrong2442 I think it's a natural response and just not knowing the intricate mechanics. If you can get there before it locks the door, you can get out. But otherwise, you legitimately are trapped inside. So a lot of folks end up panicking and giving the ghosts time to close in. And that ain't even touching how the ghosts have very specific behaviors, so its hard to get experience on all of them, or how to use defensive items effectively. Like how Demons are very aggressive hunters and tend to push in very early, or how Wraiths can pass through walls, but are severely hindered by Salt (Meaning they can't cross it multiple times in quick succession.) . For example, in this video at the back half there were complaints that it was too easy to find the ghost because it kept ringing the phone, but that's actually a clue in itself. Only some ghosts are particularly touchy. Jinns love to play with electronics but rarely wander far from their rooms; Oni like to touch things, but they're very aggressive and migratory so they tend to do it when they find you, rather than just in a room; and finally Poltergeists LOVE to touch things, and they'll do it frequently and en masse. If you hear multiple sinks turning on, or phones ringing, or doors opening all at once, that's probably a Poltergeist. The Mare can be like these ghosts, but they're a bit subtle. They want to affect lights, but they specifically want to keep things dark. So they hit switches a lot. They shut off the breaker, all that jazz. But because those specific ghosts are fairly easy to spot, it makes the ones that are in many ways more dangerous a curveball, because they don't do any of the easy things, so you tend to have to plan for them and not the easy behaviors.
Another tip is that you might want a person in the van cause when someones sanity drops to around 25% to 30% they are getting targeted by the ghost bottom left screen, also you can see where your teammate is in the top left screen, and when the activity screen goes halfway the ghost might be appearing soon when it goes to max the ghost is hunting bottom right screen.Top right screen records sound so if the ghost is walking, opening doors, throwing items, etc. Idk why their are 2 redirect tags.
@@arbiterally101 i wish for once a regular youtuber would be as professional and knowledgeable on a game as that, it's only ever people specifically trying to be pros at a game that do that but their commentary is usually crap bc they're focusing so much, youtubers generally are just way more focused on making the videos comical and their personalities and reactions extremely present bc that's what's most enjoyable, but I feel like there needs to be a balance
Im just saying, the game is a lot better when you use in game chat rather than discord Also you're safe when your flashlight stops blinking. And stay in the light as much as possible, it preserves you're sanity a lot (And crucifix does not trap the ghost, but I'll let you figure out what it does yourself)
I like that they don't use in game voice chat cause I actually wanna hear their voices. Not them speaking through a pillow with a walkie talkie on the other side.

The clock doesn't start counting down and players' sanity doesn't start draining until someone opens one of the doors to the location. A useful strategy for saving time, especially on larger maps, is to unload all the equipment from the truck to just outside the front door of the location before gearing up and heading inside. This reduces the distance needed to travel back to gather other items. More advice to follow.
"I'm disappointed that it was that easy to find the ghost. Devs, please change that". IGP, you need to chill a little dude. The dev doesn't need to change anything in that regard because the personality of the ghost is based on what type it is and what items they're more likely to interact with. The last time I was at the school the ghost was extremely difficult to find and it started to feel like a walking simulator until I found it. Each game is going to play-out very differently from the last, even if it's the same level.
Plus, I’ve heard putting the name at the beginning can mess up the speech recognition. Hopefully he will fix that. But you’re right, don’t say the name unless you want to provoke it ;P
You guys need to play this using the in-game chat mechanics, they're actually really good! Your voice level changes depending on how close you are to each other, your voice echoes in large areas, and there's a walkie-talkie function too that malfunctions when the ghost is attacking 😅

It would not make much sense since hearing them argue is the best part of the episodes so if they used the in game chat system the episodes would be shorter and less funny
Lemme start off and say this, I love how much both of you add to the video. Icy, if you read this, even tho you are scared to be alone, I feel you give the most knowledge to the game. You are IGP's voice of reason at times and his biggest support. I know I wouldn't enjoy the videos if you were not here. And IGP, I would like to applaud you for trying to get Icy to come out of his comfort zone in a supportive way. I love these videos and hope to see more. The difficulty does go up and it's not as easy to find the ghosts in Intermediate and Professional. Thank you guys again!
Oh, I remember watching this stream from Icy's perspective. Poor IGP being ghost bait all the time. I can understand Icy's level of panic once IGP is "dead", since that ghost was super aggressive. We all get scared in such games, its human instinct, but Icy did finally get brave later on. It's hard facing your fears, so great job Icy! Also to be fair, this game preys on smaller groups super hard. You really need a 4 person group to gather info before the 5 minutes are up.
cmon you gotta use the ingame chat... its not only more immersive, but its intuitive. You can tell distance and direction of friends to locate each other. Also use the global chat (default B key) if you're worried about distance. you'd just have to unmute your discord to keep icy from chickening out when you're dead

Just so people know. Not everyone watches their other channel "The Grandma Savers" they uploaded 2 days ago on it, so October 13, playing Phasmophobia with Drae. Icy's comment about NOT playing horror games with IGP was a joke and he'll continue to play horror games with him. They fight about how Icy is being a puss but it's a normal thing people do when they're friends. They fight like that and go back to being friends right after.
I literarlly YEETED my phone and it fell behind my bed. I had to move the nightstand and the whole damn bed to get it back. Didn't crack tho, so there's that.
If you're worried about losing the equipment you bring to missions, you only lose the gear you bring from your stash if you die. Otherwise, your items are always returned to you after surviving a mission, and there's also a base set of items that are guaranteed to people with no inventory whatsoever. More advice to follow.
As much as I love Icy's screams of terror, I do think he'd benefit from letting his character die! Icy, just place your character in the house and stand there. You can back up from the computer if you want, but watch so that you know what happens :) That's how I desensitize myself to horror monsters--I run at them full charge rather than away! This comes from a place of compassion, I promise.
Plus when you figure out its only 1 death animations you laugh a bit when the ghost wiggles their fingers in like "Time for me to just diddle them sockets" I can't help but laugh anytime I die at this point. Which is why I kinda wish the devs would work on more death animations or death animations aligning with the model/ghost type. Or just more in general. It would be terrifying to see a knige levitate from off screen anf point towards the players face before killing them.
or you can do what I’m doing and watch it at 6am so then it’s still dark enough to be spooky, but the eventual sunrise will be a huge breath of fresh air 😙💨
It would be interesting if there was more variety to to the ghosts in terms of how they attack, like coming out of the ceiling/floor; or like kidnapping you first and then your friends have to save you before it kills you.
Fun Fack: Dispite knowing it was an oni, IGP and IcyCaress didn't put "Oni" in their Ghost Identify Book, so they got $0 for dicovering the identity of the ghost. "Objective 1: Discover what type of ghost we are dealing with." They failed their 1st/Main Objective because IcyCaress must have rushed and left before putting "Oni" in he's book.
Ice probably got the money, every player has to manually put it, it doesn't count for everyone if only one puts it in, that's why igp didn't get the money but icy probably did
I like when IGP argues Icy to be brave to face the paranormal, I was laughing that much but I felt sorry for him. If my friend wants me to do this I don’t haves any choice.
25:50 The fact that it's SO quick and responsive is what I find to be the real special sauce this game has. It adds a layer of realism. It feels believable for that hair of a second where your brain is fooled. It's immersive. This game is fantastic.
Coming back to this over a year later and it's so great to see the mass amount of progress that Icy has made, from being scared shitless constantly to now... being scared shitless but with a newer and bigger pair of balls.
No matter what, always be ready for the screams, alot of screams and back and the forth banter between IGP and IcyCaress. It is something that to me anyway is always expected no matter what they play these days, and it is so fun to listen to. I would say at 17:25 the "Hello!" was IGP's payback for Icy's scream at near the start of the video, ha ha. Honestly these two have me in stitches of laughter with their antics. A classroom phone ringing isn't "easy" - Especially when it's on the second floor in the corner. Good luck facing that room on Professional! Also, out of all the rooms in the school, maybe like 8 may have a phone, so it's not going to happen every time.
Honestly. When my friend and I went to the high school our ghost was spamming the telephone upstairs and it still took me a while to find the right room 😂

The ghost can never leave the house/building it's haunting. The extra footsteps IGP heard were probably his own, on account of the game being buggy and unfinished (literally in early access). What IGP did during the first hunt was actually perfect: he beelined for a room, closed the door, and waited silently. It would have been fine to keep his light on, too, so he would know when the hunt ended. In the second hunt, where he died, he should have just made for the bathroom and closed the door and hid. The ghost didn't teleport, he just ran back to it. If you want the ghost to hunt less, bring sanity pills. The lower your sanity is, the more likely the ghost is to attack, and sanity pills restore a whopping 40%. More advice to follow.
The general reason ghosts can interact with technology is like our brains use electric signals ghosts are effectively purely that. In other words it is why, if they are real, they can interact with technology with ease (It uses electricity so it would react) and given there is energy in virtually everything even if ghosts aren't real all it takes is something like a person dying, leaving their electrical imprint... and that imprint would "play" with very little energy through technology which harnesses energy. At least in concept.
What I find most interesting is the concept of a residual haunt. A snapshot of time from a different era that left such an effect that it replays over and over. In theory you can have residual haunts with people who arent even dead since it's just energy stuck in time.
@@MineSlimeTV *this is an explainer to my old house's layout and some stuff we found and some other details, will say my encounter/s in another comment* we stayed at the house for 8 or 9 months; my parents have always rented because we are not wealthy. We loved the house because it was an older house in our town and was in good shape, but there was some odd things about it. Noone had lived in the house in about a decade or more and it was really cold almost 24/7, it was early fall when we moved in, moved out around april or may? Not exactly sure. Id have to ask my parents. The layout of the house was a hallway with the laundry room right at the front door, and bathroom across from it, after the short hallway the kitchen and living room are combined; carpet and tile separates the rooms. And the kitchen had a closet that was underneath the stairs kinda right in the middle of the kitchen across from the sink. The living room had a old fashioned wall heater that was a fire hazard and isnt made anymore, it got *HOT* and it made heat at a decent pace, enough to warm the room. Across from the heater was a bay view window, looking into the newer part of the house which was a plant room, originally looking at something of which i do not know, the house was built before the golf course. The door to go into that room had a un-openable window that had the main gust of wind flow and was a small bay view window. Living room had a metal chimney for wood burning, and to the left of that was another small bay view window, and after that the stairs, which were 2 steps up and then a Y intersection, you could take 2 steps down straight across and go into the room which had a closet and a mini crawlspace door that went behind the water heater, under its big mirror to the left of the door when you entered the room. And upstairs you have a + intersection, straight ahead you have another bathroom, to your left and right tou have the bedrooms. Both have crawlspaces on both sides that are linked to one another but nothing crazy just a 2 way space on each side, a globe and some plastic and clothing, some young girl clothing, all of it was womenswear expect a pair of shorts and something else i forget and carpet was left in there. property was about an acre. Maybe 2? One house, a separate garage and a golf shed since it was on the golf course. Shed was infested with gigantic female giant house spiders, dad killed them in about a day worth of spraying. But jesus those are as big as it gets here in washington for where i am on the coast. The garage had some shelves, cupboards and a big bong that has a bands emblem on it, also forget the name, id have to ask my dad what it was again. In my bedroom i found an oldschool thc vaporizor and something else, again i forget, in the closet tucked back in the corner up above out of sight. Now that ive said everything about the house basically i can talk about my experience and family as well,partially in my next comment
@@MineSlimeTV i never got any weird feeling from the place except the bottom floor room. It was always colder and as soon as you entered the room you could feel the air lower in temp instantly. Not a slow thing it was the same temp or colder never was warm in there and we used it for laundry. I was playing a game with a friend of mine online and was listening to a story from a friend of my friend, while in an xbox party with i think 7 people. Might have been ark survival evolved or rainbow six seige if anyones interested in what game it was. But i noticed the crawlspace door *OPEN* ON ITS *OWN* out of the corner of my eye and it took my a second to look at it because my brain was processing it you know? My sliding glass door was open, it was warm for once and i wanted a good breeze; it goes to a porch, my room was kinda cool at the old house. But i look at the door and it slams so fucking fast man. Faster than the blink of my eye. And it was loud too. Thing is i had my aunt an a friend of hers over, my baby brother at the time was awake, my mom was home and grandma was over too. My dad was working.After releasing what just happened, that it could not have been a breeze because the door opens opposite to the side of the room the sliding glass door was, i told my friends while shaky what that loud bang was and they all believe me which felt really good being this was the first time i ever dealt with a ghost or however the correct description of what someone is after they die. Later told my mom. She believed me and told me that cupboards and alot of walking upstairs when im at school and shes downstairs with the baby and two dogs. Creepy start. Take it up notch. Baby Toys start playing on there own at night, normally started around 9-10 pm. 10 pm mostly. A certain toy which you have to push down on to make it spin and light up and make music, lit up and made music on its own almost every night. Never span. Take it up a notch. Walking during daytime and so much at night when i wasnt in the room. Like instantly as soon as i got off the steps of the stairs. It was disturbing and i really dont like thinking about the place because of ths one dream i had.. Ill get to it in a bit. Take it up a notch. Our first dog doesnt like sleeping upstairs anymore after the door to my parents room where my brother slept, starts clicking open only at night and before my brother wakes up like it was trying to trick him into falling down the stairs. itd also mimic my mom and i's voices over the baby monitor, i heard my voice and my mothers talking to my brother in his sleep but it didnt sound like us, it sounded evil or demonic it was scary and it clearly wasnt us every time it happened i was with my mom up until 1 or 2 in the morning every night making sure thomas was okay and keeping each other feeling safer. The baby tub was thrown down from the top of the dryer, which is combined into the washer beneath it so its tall, onto my mom and at my mom several and repeated times while both on and off when she wasnt looking or busy. Take it up a notch. My mom and i are talking about something in the kitchen, and something gets thrown out of the bathroom. I go over to look at it after about 5 seconds of thinking about what just happened and looking at my mom like "wtf?!" This happened around 10 or 11 pm. It was our toothbrushes, toothbrush holder, fake pearl necklace that is heavy and obviously couldn't have landed next to the toilet on it own same with the brushes they were in the hallway. My mom and i talk about how bad the thing is getting and she tells me not to be afraid and that feeds it when you are afraid. We get angry at it and she threatens to burn the house down if it doesnt stop messing with her baby. I was threatening a cleansing from the church nearby. Things stopped for a lil while. Take it up a notch. Cupboards and drawers and closet door and fridge door and oven and dishwasher would open on their own without a sound. I would fight whatever it was doing these thing by closing the opened stuff and id turn my back and it would open half of the stuff back up again it was more funny then scary even at the beginning of the mini fights. This is when i decided i liked this ghost or whatever it was and wanted to try to be a friend. Itd also open my crawlspace doors. Never my parents because my mom nailed them shut Dad never had anything happen to him except one time. He was downstairs alone and literally everything was open besides windows. Drawers, cupboards, fridge, freezer, closet door, oven, dishwasher. He got spooked and started believing my mom and i after that. My dream was creepy as shit. It starts out black. Oh god i dont like talking about it it makes me feel very weird and half panicked. But i need to have it be said it isnt a big deal anyway i dont live in the house anymore. Anyways, black. Then a door opens. Its a crawlspace door- my room? I crawl out, dont see any hands or feel like im taking a breath, and i feel hollow. I rise up and .. Rise up. Im taller than my doorframe now. House was A framed so room was tall but i was taller than my dad and i closed the door with a wave of my hand- wait im not in control. Uh im uh walking towards my bed? THATS ME SLEEPING. UM OKAAAYYY.. Why am i all hunched over my sleeping body in my dream and also why am i floating okay im done with this dream! I wake up and my room is quiet. I breathe and relax. Then i start hearing its breathing. Im laying in my side, havnt moved from the position i was in, in my dream. Feeling the presence of *something* in my room. And hearing it breathe and oh god it just took a step or two closer. I managed to convince myself it wasnt real and was fully ready to see what it was that i thought was behind me, i was about to do it and something in my mind spoke to me or i heard something say *no!.. Sit still. Dont move or you will die! Ive never felt or heard anything like this in my life and i listened to it because everything in me believed it. I was suddenly terrified in my bed t the point where i wouldnt move, and i tried to move. I was stuck. Almost felt like something was holding me down by my wrists elbows and upon my chest, hips, knees and ankles. I managed to pass out of fear for the first time in my life. Woke up that day feeling scared of what may come when i was at school and didnt tell anyone about my dream for months. Nothing was worse than that dream. Only thing that can be compared to it is when it was 2 am and the picture frame containing multiple pictures of my baby brother was thrown off the wall when i was right there on the edge of passing out you know? That's all i can summarise atm. Ill get back to this eventually so if theres any future questions ill answer eventually
I just started this so I have no idea if you figured it out later on, but you can actually use the flashlight with almost any device if you press the T button while something else is out. It’ll help you immensely if you didn’t know about it already. I learned when I recorded a few days ago

I scoured youtube for Phasmaphobia let's plays and I have to say, while others may be better at this game, you guys are by far the most entertaining. I relate completely with Icy because I would be too terrified to go in alone... also I absolutely love his little whimpers.

"Some may missions may only complete when you leave" only refers to objective 1, aka identifying the ghost type. The other three will be crossed off as you complete them. The best way I can think of to complete the crucifix task is to have at least one teammate stay in the van while at least one other goes into the ghost location with at least one crucifix. They should drop one crucifix in the ghost's room and provoke it into attacking. The teammate in the van will monitor the task until it is crossed off, indicating that it's been successfully completed, at which point any remaining teammates should vacate back to the van to recuperate.

I know playing blind is part of the interest, but like, how do you play so blind you don't even know the basic objectives to win? How do you determine if it reacts to spirit box if you don't even know how to USE the spirit box? Is wandering around 20 minutes going "Hello?" in a brightly lit room entertaining? And I've yet to see any youtuber actually find and use a fucking OUIJI board! You'd think that's something they would immediately jump on even if it's their first time playing.

by the way, DON"T EVER USE the ghost name unless you located the ghost activity FIRST. Once you found the room, ask the question without the ghost name, after that get the salt, crucifix in that area. Locate the safe room first before you call out the ghost name. Only way the crucifix works is when you have to place the crucifix on the ground before the hunts start

The crucifix also only works twice and it covers an area about four meters. Saying the name just pisses the ghost off its best used when asking " Give us a sign " doesn't give anything. A mad ghost is easier to find but also hunts more. So try to keep them happy.

I would like it if they had more death animations and death models outside of rotting hands snapping your neck/jabbing your eyes out. Like say if its a demon a clawed hand grasps the side of your head twists your neck to the side to look into ita grinning face before your die, or a Revenant kill on a player the player will be strangled to death, then Oni or other ghosts may kill the player with floating knives or other sharp objects.
Because after you die once or twice it gets a bit cheesy when the ghost wiggles their fingers as they prepare to diddle your eyes.

The Crucifix only prevents the ghost from *starting* a Hunt in a certain area. It doesn't work when you hold it, but rather when you place it down in an area. Within a certain distance of the Crucifix, the Ghost cannot initiate hunts. If it tries to, a charge is spent on the item, and it negates that particular hunt. That's why you generally want to be preventative with Crucifixes, by placing them in areas that are either necessary pathways to hiding places, or hiding places themselves, so the Ghost can't ambush you before you can get to a good hiding spot. (Doubly so with Revenants which can chase a player very quickly and catch them before they could hide if they're not prepared.) It's also important to note that Hunts don't really have all that much to do with the Ghost's "room" so to speak. They can trigger Hunting anywhere, so while it may be useful, it doesn't actually mean you're all that safe while gathering evidence. It just makes it more difficult for the Ghost to reach you in a good amount of time. Or give you time to shut doors to keep the ghost out.
If the Hunt has already started, the ghost is not affected by the Crucifix at all. Similarly, the ghost can manifest for the purposes of scares without being affected by the Crucifix. So popping up in shadow form, or touching objects aren't affected. It's just when it hunts a player. It's not bugged, it's just not nearly as powerful as people think it is.
Same with Smudge Sticks. They're more of a preventative item than anything else. You'd want to pop them when you think you're running the risk of angering the ghost. If you're near them with the stick active, it'll calm the area down a bit and the ghost will be less likely to activate a Hunt.
One item prevents Hunts from starting in that location, and the other lowers the activation chances for a short while. Together, they're your best defense against a ghost as your Sanity dwindles.

Very great info right here dude! Can confirm is accurate. I do want to add one thing, a smudge stick used right at the start of a hunt before the ghost has spawned will give you a few extra seconds to go run and hide before it spawns. It's not very long at all, but can be huge at times, especially with Revenants or large empty rooms.

TIP:
When the temperature is cold in a room ( 10 degrees and below ) it means the ghost is in that room or if it is the hallway then it is the hallway. But if you see your breath or other player's breath then that counts as evidence ' FREEZING TEMPERATURE ', too double-check you may use the thermometer as it will pick up negative numbers ( -1, etc ). But if you see your own breath then that obviously counts as the evidence known as Freezing Temperature. Also when in the hunting stage you must hide which lowers the chances of death. You will know when it goes into the hunting stage as your flashlights will start flashing and on the Spirit Box sometimes it will address the words " Kill ", " Death " or " Die ". This also can mean it is about to go into hunting mode. Hope this helped :)!

As a general bit of advice, yeah the Thermometer is really only good for sweeping, not for verifying temperature. It helps you spot the cold spots more easily, but if they have the Freezing Temperature evidence, you can spot it without the tool. Think of it as a tool for spotting, and verifying, but not absolutely necessary.
No one tool is ever gonna carry you through the entire mission.
And yeah, as @Bioshock said, hiding is the way to go. If your lights start to flicker and your radio stops working, you need to find a place to hide ASAP. That's what Crucifixes are great for, since they ensure a hunt cannot start within a certain distance of a spot. Drop them in your designated hiding spot, and stay there, lights off, and wait. Don't talk, and be patient. You HAVE to break LoS on the ghost and get a door between you and it. That's really your only way to evade it. Once the hunt starts, nothing really protects you besides stealth.
Other than that though, gotta be honest I absolutely understand the terror from this game. It does such a good job of worming into your head and making you scare of every little detail. Not to mention you have to tempt fate and get the ghost to trigger things for evidence, meaning you can't just immediately get a verdict. You *have* to piss it off a bit.
Still love these videos, and even if we've got a bit of cowardice, it's nice to see some people actually treat it as spooky and not just go in all big dick energy.

Seriously though, through trial and error the last 10 times the ghost has hunted the door has been locked. Why do they expect it to be openable this time?
@@wrong2442 I think it's a natural response and just not knowing the intricate mechanics.
If you can get there before it locks the door, you can get out. But otherwise, you legitimately are trapped inside. So a lot of folks end up panicking and giving the ghosts time to close in.
And that ain't even touching how the ghosts have very specific behaviors, so its hard to get experience on all of them, or how to use defensive items effectively. Like how Demons are very aggressive hunters and tend to push in very early, or how Wraiths can pass through walls, but are severely hindered by Salt (Meaning they can't cross it multiple times in quick succession.) .
For example, in this video at the back half there were complaints that it was too easy to find the ghost because it kept ringing the phone, but that's actually a clue in itself. Only some ghosts are particularly touchy. Jinns love to play with electronics but rarely wander far from their rooms; Oni like to touch things, but they're very aggressive and migratory so they tend to do it when they find you, rather than just in a room; and finally Poltergeists LOVE to touch things, and they'll do it frequently and en masse. If you hear multiple sinks turning on, or phones ringing, or doors opening all at once, that's probably a Poltergeist. The Mare can be like these ghosts, but they're a bit subtle. They want to affect lights, but they specifically want to keep things dark. So they hit switches a lot. They shut off the breaker, all that jazz.
But because those specific ghosts are fairly easy to spot, it makes the ones that are in many ways more dangerous a curveball, because they don't do any of the easy things, so you tend to have to plan for them and not the easy behaviors.
Another tip is that you might want a person in the van cause when someones sanity drops to around 25% to 30% they are getting targeted by the ghost bottom left screen, also you can see where your teammate is in the top left screen, and when the activity screen goes halfway the ghost might be appearing soon when it goes to max the ghost is hunting bottom right screen.Top right screen records sound so if the ghost is walking, opening doors, throwing items, etc.

The clock doesn't start counting down and players' sanity doesn't start draining until someone opens one of the doors to the location. A useful strategy for saving time, especially on larger maps, is to unload all the equipment from the truck to just outside the front door of the location before gearing up and heading inside. This reduces the distance needed to travel back to gather other items. More advice to follow.

IGP, you need to chill a little dude. The dev doesn't need to change anything in that regard because the personality of the ghost is based on what type it is and what items they're more likely to interact with. The last time I was at the school the ghost was extremely difficult to find and it started to feel like a walking simulator until I found it. Each game is going to play-out very differently from the last, even if it's the same level.
Plus they are still on weeny hut jr difficulty.

Oh, I remember watching this stream from Icy's perspective. Poor IGP being ghost bait all the time. I can understand Icy's level of panic once IGP is "dead", since that ghost was super aggressive. We all get scared in such games, its human instinct, but Icy did finally get brave later on. It's hard facing your fears, so great job Icy! Also to be fair, this game preys on smaller groups super hard. You really need a 4 person group to gather info before the 5 minutes are up.
cmon you gotta use the ingame chat... its not only more immersive, but its intuitive. You can tell distance and direction of friends to locate each other. Also use the global chat (default B key) if you're worried about distance. you'd just have to unmute your discord to keep icy from chickening out when you're dead

The other "fun" thing about ingame chat only? The ghost shuts down your radio chat during a hunt.

If you're worried about losing the equipment you bring to missions, you only lose the gear you bring from your stash if you die. Otherwise, your items are always returned to you after surviving a mission, and there's also a base set of items that are guaranteed to people with no inventory whatsoever. More advice to follow.

As much as I love Icy's screams of terror, I do think he'd benefit from letting his character die! Icy, just place your character in the house and stand there. You can back up from the computer if you want, but watch so that you know what happens :) That's how I desensitize myself to horror monsters--I run at them full charge rather than away! This comes from a place of compassion, I promise.
Plus when you figure out its only 1 death animations you laugh a bit when the ghost wiggles their fingers in like "Time for me to just diddle them sockets"
I can't help but laugh anytime I die at this point. Which is why I kinda wish the devs would work on more death animations or death animations aligning with the model/ghost type. It would be interesting if there was more variety to to the ghosts in terms of how they attack, like coming out of the ceiling/floor; or like kidnapping you first and then your friends have to save you before it kills you.

Fun Fack: Dispite knowing it was an oni, IGP and IcyCaress didn't put "Oni" in their Ghost Identify Book, so they got $0 for dicovering the identity of the ghost.

The fact that it's SO quick and responsive is what I find to be the real special sauce this game has. It adds a layer of realism. It feels believable for that hair of a second where your brain is fooled. It's immersive. This game is fantastic.

No matter what, always be ready for the screams, alot of screams and back and the forth banter between IGP and IcyCaress. It is something that to me anyway is always expected no matter what they play these days, and it is so fun to listen to.
I would say at 17:25 the "Hello!" was IGP's payback for Icy's scream at near the start of the video, ha ha. Honestly these two have me in stitches of laughter with their antics.

Another tip is that you might want a person in the van cause when someones sanity drops to around 25% to 30% they are getting targeted by the ghost bottom left screen, also you can see where your teammate is in the top left screen, and when the activity screen goes halfway the ghost might be appearing soon when it goes to max the ghost is hunting bottom right screen.Top right screen records sound so if the ghost is walking, opening doors, throwing items, etc.

The ghost can never leave the house/building it's haunting. The extra footsteps IGP heard were probably his own, on account of the game being buggy and unfinished (literally in early access). What IGP did during the first hunt was actually perfect: he beelined for a room, closed the door, and waited silently. It would have been fine to keep his light on, too, so he would know when the hunt ended. In the second hunt, where he died, he should have just made for the bathroom and closed the door and hid. The ghost didn't teleport, he just ran back to it. If you want the ghost to hunt less, bring sanity pills. The lower your sanity is, the more likely the ghost is to attack, and sanity pills restore a whopping 40%. More advice to follow.

The general reason ghosts can interact with technology is like our brains use electric signals ghosts are effectively purely that. In other words it is why, if they are real, they can interact with technology with ease (It uses electricity so it would react) and given there is energy in virtually everything even if ghosts aren't real all it takes is something like a person dying, leaving their electrical imprint... and that imprint would "play" with very little energy through technology which harnesses energy.
At least in concept.
What I find most interesting is the concept of a residual haunt. A snapshot of time from a different era that left such an effect that it replays over and over. In theory you can have residual haunts with people who arent even dead since it's just energy stuck in time.
I believe in ghosts because the last house i was in was haunted as shit and there is no explanation for it otherwise.

@@MineSlimeTV *this is an explainer to my old house's layout and some stuff we found and some other details, will say my encounter/s in another comment* we stayed at the house for 8 or 9 months; my parents have always rented because we are not wealthy. We loved the house because it was an older house in our town and was in good shape, but there was some odd things about it. Noone had lived in the house in about a decade or more and it was really cold almost 24/7, it was early fall when we moved in, moved out around april or may? Not exactly sure. Id have to ask my parents. The layout of the house was a hallway with the laundry room right at the front door, and bathroom across from it, after the short hallway the kitchen and living room are combined; carpet and tile separates the rooms. And the kitchen had a closet that was underneath the stairs kinda right in the middle of the kitchen across from the sink. The living room had a old fashioned wall heater that was a fire hazard and isnt made anymore, it got *HOT* and it made heat at a decent pace, enough to warm the room. Across from the heater was a bay view window, looking into the newer part of the house which was a plant room, originally looking at something of which i do not know, the house was built before the golf course. The door to go into that room had a un-openable window that had the main gust of wind flow and was a small bay view window. Living room had a metal chimney for wood burning, and to the left of that was another small bay view window, and after that the stairs, which were 2 steps up and then a Y intersection, you could take 2 steps down straight across and go into the room which had a closet and a mini crawlspace door that went behind the water heater, under its big mirror to the left of the door when you entered the room. And upstairs you have a + intersection, straight ahead you have another bathroom, to your left and right tou have the bedrooms. Both have crawlspaces on both sides that are linked to one another but nothing crazy just a 2 way space on each side, a globe and some plastic and clothing, some young girl clothing, all of it was womenswear expect a pair of shorts and something else i forget and carpet was left in there. property was about an acre. Maybe 2? One house, a separate garage and a golf shed since it was on the golf course. Shed was infested with gigantic female giant house spiders, dad killed them in about a day worth of spraying. But jesus those are as big as it gets here in washington for where i am on the coast. The garage had some shelves, cupboards and a big bong that has a bands emblem on it, also forget the name, id have to ask my dad what it was again. In my bedroom i found an oldschool thc vaporizor and something else, again i forget, in the closet tucked back in the corner up above out of sight. Now that ive said everything about the house basically i can talk about my experience and family as well,partially in my next comment
@@MineSlimeTV i never got any weird feeling from the place except the bottom floor room. It was always colder and as soon as you entered the room you could feel the air lower in temp instantly. Not a slow thing it was the same temp or colder never was warm in there and we used it for laundry. I was playing a game with a friend of mine online and was listening to a story from a friend of my friend, while in an xbox party with i think 7 people. Might have been ark survival evolved or rainbow six seige if anyones interested in what game it was. But i noticed the crawlspace door *OPEN* ON ITS *OWN* out of the corner of my eye and it took my a second to look at it because my brain was processing it you know? My sliding glass door was open, it was warm for once and i wanted a good breeze; it goes to a porch, my room was kinda cool at the old house. But i look at the door and it slams so fucking fast man. Faster than the blink of my eye. And it was loud too. Thing is i had my aunt an a friend of hers over, my baby brother at the time was awake, my mom was home and grandma was over too. My dad was working.After releasing what just happened, that it could not have been a breeze because the door opens opposite to the side of the room the sliding glass door was, i told my friends while shaky what that loud bang was and they all believe me which felt really good being this was the first time i ever dealt with a ghost or however the correct description of what someone is after they die. Later told my mom. She believed me and told me that cupboards and alot of walking upstairs when im at school and shes downstairs with the baby and two dogs. Creepy start. Take it up notch. Baby Toys start playing on there own at night, normally started around 9-10 pm. 10 pm mostly. A certain toy which you have to push down on to make it spin and light up and make music, lit up and made music on its own almost every night. Never span. Take it up a notch. Walking during daytime and so much at night when i wasnt in the room. Like instantly as soon as i got off the steps of the stairs. It was disturbing and i really dont like thinking about the place because of ths one dream i had.. Ill get to it in a bit. Take it up a notch. Our first dog doesnt like sleeping upstairs anymore after the door to my parents room where my brother slept, starts clicking open only at night and before my brother wakes up like it was trying to trick him into falling down the stairs. itd also mimic my mom and i's voices over the baby monitor, i heard my voice and my mothers talking to my brother in his sleep but it didnt sound like us, it sounded evil or demonic it was scary and it clearly wasnt us every time it happened i was with my mom up until 1 or 2 in the morning every night making sure thomas was okay and keeping each other feeling safer. The baby tub was thrown down from the top of the dryer, which is combined into the washer beneath it so its tall, onto my mom and at my mom several and repeated times while both on and off when she wasnt looking or busy. Take it up a notch. My mom and i are talking about something in the kitchen, and something gets thrown out of the bathroom. I go over to look at it after about 5 seconds of thinking about what just happened and looking at my mom like "wtf?!" This happened around 10 or 11 pm. It was our toothbrushes, toothbrush holder, fake pearl necklace that is heavy and obviously couldn't have landed next to the toilet on it own same with the brushes they were in the hallway. My mom and i talk about how bad the thing is getting and she tells me not to be afraid and that feeds it when you are afraid. We get angry at it and she threatens to burn the house down if it doesnt stop messing with her baby. I was threatening a cleansing from the church nearby. Things stopped for a lil while. Take it up a notch. Cupboards and drawers and closet door and fridge door and oven and dishwasher would open on their own without a sound. I would fight whatever it was doing these thing by closing the opened stuff and id turn my back and it would open half of the stuff back up again it was more funny then scary even at the beginning of the mini fights. This is when i decided i liked this ghost or whatever it was and wanted to try to be a friend. Itd also open my crawlspace doors. Never my parents because my mom nailed them shut Dad never had anything happen to him except one time. He was downstairs alone and literally everything was open besides windows. Drawers, cupboards, fridge, freezer, closet door, oven, dishwasher. He got spooked and started believing my mom and i after that. My dream was creepy as shit. It starts out black. Oh god i dont like talking about it it makes me feel very weird and half panicked. But i need to have it be said it isnt a big deal anyway i dont live in the house anymore. Anyways, black. Then a door opens. Its a crawlspace door- my room? I crawl out, dont see any hands or feel like im taking a breath, and i feel hollow. I rise up and .. Rise up. Im taller than my doorframe now. House was A framed so room was tall but i was taller than my dad and i closed the door with a wave of my hand- wait im not in control. Uh im uh walking towards my bed? THATS ME SLEEPING. UM OKAAAYYY.. Why am i all hunched over my sleeping body in my dream and also why am i floating okay im done with this dream! I wake up and my room is quiet. I breathe and relax. Then i start hearing its breathing. Im laying in my side, havnt moved from the position i was in, in my dream. Feeling the presence of *something* in my room. And hearing it breathe and oh god it just took a step or two closer. I managed to convince myself it wasnt real and was fully ready to see what it was that i thought was behind me, i was about to do it and something in my mind spoke to me or i heard something say *no!.. Sit still. Dont move or you will die! Ive never felt or heard anything like this in my life and i listened to it because everything in me believed it. I was suddenly terrified in my bed t the point where i wouldnt move, and i tried to move. I was stuck. Almost felt like something was holding me down by my wrists elbows and upon my chest, hips, knees and ankles. I managed to pass out of fear for the first time in my life. Woke up that day feeling scared of what may come when i was at school and didnt tell anyone about my dream for months. Nothing was worse than that dream. Only thing that can be compared to it is when it was 2 am and the picture frame containing multiple pictures of my baby brother was thrown off the wall when i was right there on the edge of passing out you know? That's all i can summarise atm. Ill get back to this eventually so if theres any future questions ill answer eventually

I just started this so I have no idea if you figured it out later on, but you can actually use the flashlight with almost any device if you press the T button while something else is out. It’ll help you immensely if you didn’t know about it already. I learned when I recorded a few days ago

"Some may missions may only complete when you leave" only refers to objective 1, aka identifying the ghost type. The other three will be crossed off as you complete them. The best way I can think of to complete the crucifix task is to have at least one teammate stay in the van while at least one other goes into the ghost location with at least one crucifix. They should drop one crucifix in the ghost's room and provoke it into attacking. The teammate in the van will monitor the task until it is crossed off, indicating that it's been successfully completed, at which point any remaining teammates should vacate back to the van to recuperate.
I love how you had to edit through a solid 10-15 minutes of Icy pushing his way through a mission.

I know playing blind is part of the interest, but like, how do you play so blind you don't even know the basic objectives to win? How do you determine if it reacts to spirit box if you don't even know how to USE the spirit box? Is wandering around 20 minutes going "Hello?" in a brightly lit room entertaining? And I've yet to see any youtuber actually find and use a fucking OUIJI board! You'd think that's something they would immediately jump on even if it's their first time playing.
