Great video. Would have loved a more in depth tour. But oh man, the microphone. It needs to be put out of its misery and replaced with some quality equipment.
Everything I disliked about the ACE it looks like they fixed. Conductor desk much better, and on my side they fixed location of knife and breakers. If they only could have been able to use GE center lift axle. I hope there for stroke still had there rapid throttle response the ACE had.
I was an engineer on the SD9's, 28's, 38's, 40's, 45s, 50's, and the 60's, and the Tunnel Motors. I'm old school and a locomotive should look like a locomotive, NOT A DOGS ASS!!!! This damn thing is a friggin abortion!!!
@@THE_IRON_HORSE There were certain locomotives that were ever willing to take another ton with grumbling about it! The SD9 and the SD24 we're two of the best pullers I ever ran!!! The SD38-2 was a real winner as well!!!! They could move anything! They didn't do it fast, but they did it!!!! They had more tractive effort than the 40 by about 3000 pounds!!! Ole 2824 was one of my favorites!!! The sound of an EMD 567, a 645, or even a 710 was a sound like no other!!!! This Tier 4 monsterosity is an abortion!!! Note how the young punk called it a BOGIE! It is not a GAUDAMNED Bogie!!! It is a TRUCK!!!! A TRUCK!!! NOT A DAMMED BOGIE!!!
@@THE_IRON_HORSE Yes I ran the SD40-2's!!!! I ran the older stuff, and fell in love with the old dogs. Those fast forties were quick!!!!!!! I was Union Pacific trained! Took my student trips in 88' when we still had real engineers in the helper sets!!!! I worked a western short line railroad that went belly up! I ran my first DDA40X when I was 17 years old! I was still in High School back in 79'!!!!!!!

That was one of my biggest complaints about the SD70M-2. The location of the battery knife switch and breakers were not in the cab.

I hope EMD can step up their game to compete with industry leader GE. It's a good product. But can you sell enough?
For me, EMD's simplicity and ease of maintenance has always been it's best selling point. They're also more reliable.
