I always wait 6-12 months before buying PC games now.. lower prices with most major bugs fixed. People who buy games on release in 2024 are unpaid QA testers.
Same thing I do with console games. But yeah, I do the same thing with PC and it is much easier since I have all those free games (legally) and all the other games you can play on PC.
They don't fix all games though. Jedi Survivor and Dead Space still have constant traversal stutter even on the highest end system 7800x3d/4090. I just avoid those games as a whole.
It's games in general. In this case too. Every issue in this game was translated to consoles, and to an even worst degree. Just like with Jedi Survivor, I trusted the game could have much better performance without the need of mods, and here we are...
I'm perplexed why I don't ever see people pointing specifically to this: Doesn't it seem obvious that it's the cloth simulation that's dragging everything down here?
Broke most of my mods, and wouldn't launch even after uninstall, so I just deleted the game folder entirely and reinstalled the game and added the newest REFramework mod and it works now (with some mods not working currently). BUT, first of all you get DLSS 3 and not being dependent on changing DLL files (which is what I suspect cause the issues I had at first). Performance is more stable (not great but not as bad as before). Overall good improvement on capcom end, I hope they will keep up the work.
I usually never buy games on release, mostly a couple of months or even years later. But this one I wanted to play badly., so I bought it a couple of days after the release. It crashed every time on my PC after the first 2 hours in the game...tried everything to make it run, nothing helped really. Never touched it again since then, going to try again after this patch.
For some reason, on my Samsung tv, 120hz mode with this game causes the screen to have the black’s pulsating. Other games run fine but it’s only this game and I can’t find a fix.
It only flickers with VRR enabled. I disabled mine and since then its been awesome. I barely get the enjoyment of VRR. It only works well in half of the games anyway. The trade off was not worth. If you do not want to disable VRR, your only option is to lower the brightness, as only the dark grey ares are flickering. Btw I am on C9. so it may be a bit different on cx/1. There is also a "vrr black level" specific setting under Display on my tv. If you neither want to disable vrr or lower the brightness, just wait few years for fixed new hardware
They very much do, RTINGS has a video on the topic which closely reflects my own Asus OLED PG42UQ. My previous IPS monitor with G-Sync module (AW3821DW) did not have the problem, but the FreeSync IPS monitor I had before that had the issue, and far worse than the PG42UQ. Luckily it only occurs in very select scenarios and is not noticeable during actual VRR gaming.
honestly we are moving graphics (GPU/CPUs) way to fast instead of optimized and steady releases. If people still buy Nividia 4090s you know nobody cares about optimzation anymore.
I almost forgot I bought the game, I haven't started playing it. The first game was also broken af until months after launch, so I'm waiting patiently.
@TaddiMason117 I thought they might get their shit straight this time after that blunt. Plus, the track record of CRAPcom's recent pc releases were not too bad, and no one mentioned performance issues until very late. The thing is, even if I know some games are going to be broken at launch I might still buy them on day one play them anyway, such as monster hunter, but DA2 was just me been careless and let my guard down (first-time in years)
On my Series X it looks way less sharp when i turn on 120hz mode. But its really fluid. Looks like 1080p for me. The 120hz mode button being separate from graphics options is weird.
Regardless of performance issues, it's a huge upgrade graphically and combat base mechanics wise over the original. But its a massive downgrade story wise and endgame wise compared to the original.
@@Unicornpirate Bit late to ask but what do you mean by "base combat mechanics"? I'm of the opposite opinion that this game suffers from a big list of downgrades with very minimal improvements.

FSR 3.1 doesnt even feel good on steam deck where most games natively run at 30/40FPS. FSR 3 needs like a base of 60FPS to work with. I tried ratchet and clank on the Deck with FSR3 frame gen and it just falls apart during cutscenes even if the FPS counter says 60
@@TheCocomunges I don’t think it needs a 60+ source to be an improvement. Certain games like Cyberpunk on Steam Deck actually does get some benefit. Benefit doesn’t have to be double the performance. Sometimes a +10 FPS improvement is enough to make it playable, especially on handhelds. You’re right in that the FPS counter is misleading, because it can still FEEL like 25 FPS even if/when it says 60.
No issues with DD2 on PS5 at launch. Aside from the mediocre musical score and some head scratching side quests, this game was breath of fresh air compared to all the souls-like games in recent years. I am glad Capcom is still working on patching this game, though, I too am tired of developers launching games these days before they are ready.
Dragon's Dogma's problems go beyond performance issues. Because it failed to be significantly better than DD1. They somehow made the story worse than the original. Even without the Dark Arisen expansion. Anyone still on the fence about DD2, just wait for the version of this game that comes out with a Dark Arisen type expansion. And even then, wait for reviews.
