    Thank Marc, I'd never heard about this until your video popped up. Anyway, I've manged it for an FE3080ti adapting your instruction a little. Fortunately I've got an ASUS motherboard too and recently changed to GPT so was good to go. The nvidia updater kept saying the card was unsupported, but when I changed the BIOS settings as per your video I went back to check the GPU properties and the BAR now says YES. So I think I'm all good. Thanks for the guide.

    My actual fps gains were difficult to measure, as it varied from set up to set up. Estimated 1-3fps. However it did seem less prone to those tiny micro-stutters than without, but that is a subjective observation. I suspect not designed for top end GPU’s with loads of memory (24gb). NV Inspector (flags) had no impact on my results.

    Great video, with your help I was able to enable Resizable BAR in my system (3070). I thought enabling it in BIOS was enough and was surprised to see it disabled in the nVidia control panel info window. As you said, in VR even a few fps more (or less microstuttering) can make a difference.

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That performance is good, with a 3080 ti your likely to experience less stutters with resize bar as opposed to higher fps…maybe up 1 or 2 only

    • @pokealong
      @pokealong ปีที่แล้ว +3

      On very high end cards, like our 3080 Tis, it mostly helps with frame pacing which reduces stuttering. Really the only cards it's ESSENTIAL on are new Intel GPUs like the A750 and A770, which lose about 25% performance if it's disabled. Which it is by default.

    A very detailed explanation.
    I would, however, advise a word of caution before deciding to enable resizable bar. I am about 80% sure it was the cause of me almost bricking my PC to a point, where I couldn't even boot into bios, let alone windows. For those few times when it actually did boot into bios, it would not show any bootable drives and nvME drive self tests would instantly freeze. Every time the PC would boot differently, sometimes it would not recognize bootables, other times it would and then proceed to blue repair screen. Scary stuff..

    • @alantan157
      @alantan157 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It most likely because your windows is in mbr. You need to convert it to gpt first, enable uefi then resizeable bar

  • @pokealong
    @pokealong ปีที่แล้ว +6

    An important note is on the new Intel GPUs this is absolutely REQUIRED. Not enabling it will lose up to 25% performance. That's a wild amount. At 144hz that is 36 fps lost just for not enabling a setting that has no negative consequences. On Nvidia and AMD, it's not so important. A few FPS and less stuttering. But definitely required for Intel.

  • @einherz
    @einherz ปีที่แล้ว +1

    in other video mention nvinspector profiler, because in the profile rbar disabled in default

  • @Avi8tor857
    @Avi8tor857 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    FWIW I did this a while back and I had to force update my bios for some reason the ASUS desktop app wasn't detecting that my bios was out of date but booting into the bios and noting the version against what is published for my motherboard. So I had to download it and flash it manually.
    You may only see 2-3 FPS but what you may see is a reduction in artifacts and stutters, and may notice even more gains on lessor cards than the 3090. And more importantly a reduction in load on the PCIe channels and CPU. Its not all about FPS but over all smoothness and responsiveness.
    GPUz is a easy useful tool to check resizable bar and other card settings.

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  ปีที่แล้ว

      My experience is very much the same as yours, 3090…2 fps…lower cards will do better hopefully. I also had to manually flash the bios on my ASUS m/b. I felt in VR it was a little smoother, but that was more of a subjective observation.

    When updating the VBIOS for my 3070 MSI Ventus X3, my screen was blank and stayed that way the first time i tried to update it. I thought it was bricked. Luckily it still booted when i reset. I tried to update it again and the same thing happened, except this time i was advised to press the "y" key after a while has passed and i was sure it had installed correctly. Sure enough the system came right back to life, screen came on, and then it initiated a restart. Everything was installed and fine after that. If this is you, try pressing the "y" key.

    Hi, Mark,
    May be just a coincidence, but after enabling my Resizable Bar without any hiccups, I've found some anomolies in some of my TBM930 liveries. Several liveries show no cockpit screens...just blank windows. Some also have registration details in cockpit blanked-out. Also, when I startup MS, click on 'liveries', select TBM930, and some aircraft show names as 'Default', whereas all my other liveries show my custom name in almost alphabetical order.
    I confess to, in only a few cases, made slight adjustments to the texture and config files, and they have all been operating as normal, until now. Finally, Mark, my first three models I had painted by one of the very-talented artists on-line,18months ago, have never been altered in any way by me......yet now they have lost all screens.
    Could enabling of the Resizable Bar cause these issues?
    Keep up the good work.

      @SimHanger Flight Simulation resize bar is only used for 30 and 40 series cards . If the game supports resize bar than yes as long as the nvidia panel says it's on then you are good but games like msfs is not supported for resize bar at the moment so you need to force enable it in that specific game using the profile inspector otherwise it will not be used. In the link you posted it shows the 14 games or so that support resize bar and automatically set on if your panel says yes . But for msfs you need to force it on.
