hey guys, awesome video. Ghost shrimp is very popular here in Brazil as well. Theres actually a great way of putting it into your hook: you don't actually hook it. You lay them in the smooth inside part of the hook by the belly and tie the head to the tail with invisibile thread. Then once thats done, you tie it to the top of the hook, close to the hook eye. Try this out next time, it makes the shrimp very secure on your hook + it stays whole for the fish to bite!

I'm glad you found saltwater yabbys Australian Aboriginal have been getting them for only 28000 years the pump your using is a yabby pump I use to get them when I was young 30 od years ago
Wow it's amazing that you guys only discovered this Shrimps now and you guys are like very good fishermen. That's been the number one bait here in South Africa for years. Nothing beats that bait and that bait catches everything
Kudos to the mailman delivering the goods at the beach - red bag too😊👍🤞! Sweet! Bingo! Great job u too! Looks like a lot of fun and I'll check out that pump👊
Hi,we have been using sand prawns for many years fishing, as a youngster I was taught how to pump them by my grandfather. Excellent bait for steenbras, galjoen, tasselfish...and a lot of other species here in South Africa.
I’m glad you guys fought the ghost shrimp. You can use 1 whole on a bigger hook or use slightly smaller ones. We use lots on the west coast. You can keep them alive longer but taking a container and placing a single or 2 sheets of newspaper on bottom and around top, place them inside. Just dampen the newspaper a little bit don’t drown them. Good luck!!
Hi, i am from portugal we use that bait too. The technique is to bait the wole shrimp and leave the hook on the head, becouse when they are on the sand its the first thing the fish sees. Great videos.
I loved this one, because my granddad took me fishing here in Brazil beaches a lot, and we used these as bait. They are called "Corruptos" here, and can be found in the Sao Paulo beaches. We use PVC made pumps to grab them. Great memories. Love how fishing make us bond with our loved ones.
Hola amigos que bueno que puedan sacar carnada desde la playa. Acá hace años que no hay almejas con eso pescabas un montón. Lo que hay en las playas con rocas son los gusanos de mar.Saludos desde Gesell Juanma 🎣🐟
I enjoy Arron's enthusiasm in catching the fish AND bait, it's impossible to hide she loves fishing the you guys doing things together. Best of luck to you and your family.
we have been calling those sandshrimp or mudshrimp for years and i have actively used them for steelhead fishing since the 1970's and well before by many others
There is actually a technique to this as well, pull the handle up as the tide is rolling in and empty as it's rolling out. Empty it above the tide obviously or you're just providing bait for fish out in the water. You need plenty of seawater to facilitate the suction action so you're not just sucking up packed sand. Make your efforts count, it shouldn't take multiple attempts per hole. This brings back memories from decades past.
We call them sand prawn in South Africa and it's one of the best universal baits for fishing. Any and all fish will eat this from smallest to the biggest it's an excellent bait!
Hola amigo, acá en Perú es una de las mejores carnadas, la conocemos como Marucha, Nape o Camaroncillo, excelente para la pesca de varias especies...saludos desde Ancón Lima Perú
Over here in Florida, we do catch a lot of lady fishes and I normally just throw them back but one time a Vietnamese lady told me that she wanted them. I asked her how she prepares them for eating since they have a lot of tiny bones. She said after she cleans them scales and all that guts, she cuts them up and grinds them. Then with the ground fish meat she can sprinkle with spices or marinates them and makes fish balls and fry them.
i found a few of these ghost shrimp where i was fishing before. unfortunately they were too small to use for bait and too little but still was cool to see them around here in nz
Hey Skipper, where are you guys in this video? I was hoping to see your recipe for the lady fish. Maybe in another video, I enjoyed watching this, well done!
In my part of California they have been over harvested so finding them more than two inches long has become a moment of celebration. Excellent bait that needs to be tied on the the hook. Always fun to see the wifey there with you. Love Always and stay safe.
This bait is deadly on the surf, especially at night. We fish with it alot in South Africa and it is very versatile in catching all different types of species. We call it cracker shrimp or sand prawn😊 Thanks for the great content. All the best!
Been using Yabbies for fishing since I was a kid in the '70's here in Australia. The pumping technique takes some time to master, but in additional to pulling the plunger up you also need to at the same time push the cylinder down into the sand. It should taken only 3x pumps to clear the full depth of the tube once you have the technique mastered. Also, get yourself an aerator for you bait bucket and change the water regularly to maximise the lifespan. Yabbies die quickly if the water gets too hot.
We call them yabbies or pink nippers here in Australia. They are a great bait for a wide variety of fish. Another good piece of equipment to when catching them is a round plastic sieve like pan around the same size as your bucket there with a mesh about 1/4 inch that then has pool noodle zip tied around the outside then tied to your belt or around your waist so it won't float away to squirt the pump into. They used to be made to fit into the top of those bucket here for easier carrying and the shrimp can be left in the sieve for a bit until you feel you have enough to walk back to the bucket.
Hey there Skipper! My name is John and I've enjoyed your videos for maybe a year. Eventhough I live in California I feel like I learn a lot from you. So here's my question. Can I find ghost shrimp in California like you did in Florida in this video? Please let me know because I know they make good bait! Tight lines!
I wanna see y'all cook more of them fish y'all catch I wish I could catch that many fish I haven't caught any the 6 times I been fishing this year I wish I had the money to buy ur bait rigs
Just know mantis shrimp also live in holes like that on the beaches in FL. The difference in the holes is a mantis shrimp hole has some build up around the outside and when you start pumping all kinds of other stuff will come out (looks dirty). The ghost shrimp holes are just plain holes like you were finding. I just recently found this out when I was out pumping shrimp. Great pomp candy though.
Those ghost shrimp have a different shell design than the ones we have here in San Diego, CA, you will catch anything and everything in the ocean with that bait!
I noticed you use your e-bikes a lot on the beach - do you have a special way to remove the salt/sand when you get it home? I was wondering if the Gulf side has ghost shrimp?
We call them yabbies and the are the best bait for so many fish here in Australia, a fishing trip isn't complete without pumping yabbies ( ghost shrimp)
You can also find your own sand m/blood worms .. you should try it on one of your special.. fish do love worms . It’s big in Jersey but here in Floridianyiu can’t find it
