    Wow that is so cool that you are in Boston! I just drove to Melrose to buy the C70 a few days ago. I updated the camera and I noticed with the crop sensor the autofocus is not really doing well. I still haven't had a chance to put my RF 24 to 70 2.8 on it yet.

    We have been having some trouble using this for reception coverage for our wedding company. Excited to try this working around. I have had better auto-focus results on my Canon R over my C70 with low-light venues. It's upsetting that my Canon R outperforms my C70 with auto focus seeing that it cost so much more.

    Wow, your video totally made me realize that indeed there is a solution! Thank you! I am lucky to also own the R5, so I can use it for 120fps and face tracking but nothing beats the convenience of ND filters, way longer recording times in 4k (without heat warnings) and many other video-centric functionality that the C70 offers, I'm glad you did not do the switch! lol

    Very helpful. I remember watching this video a while back. I was setting my SF mode to the 12 button and trying to figure out was I was loosing face tracking when I switched it to 59fps. I thought that was the whole point of this video from what I remembered. I had to rewatch this video to see I missed the word "manually" setting to 59fps for 40% in post. Ahhh I see said the blind man. All good. I was shooting some great slomo but losing footage because of focus. Your remedy works great. THANKS!!! In the footage you used as reference, you were shooting hands. Will you still have the same issue?

    I am a C70 user as well, and your research has helped me a lot.
    One thing i wanted to ask you, regarding the autofocus:
    How do you handle tracking mode, when you don't have the possibility to touch the LCD, in order to track an object? For instance because you are shooting on the shoulder rig and looking through a Zacuto Viewfinder. Is there a good way to configure a button for this purpose? Many thanks in advance! Dude so funny I had the exact thing happen to me. I always shoot in slow fast mode and I was getting frustrated with the autofocus to the point I was looking at R5’s too and then another videographer who shoots on a C70 asked me to second shoot a wedding with him and he showed me this and I was blown away haha felt so dumb for not thinking of it but so happy to have slow motion and autofocus now, it’s not the best but definitely much better than slow fast mode!

    Great video thanks. You know when you said you figured out you could just change the franerate to 60 then slow down in post and you map the custom button...can you also increase the shutter speed to double the framework with that same button press? I.e. map the button on the C70 so it switches to 60fps and 1/120th frame rate? Or are you just mapping the button to switch between 23.987 and 60 and leaving the shutter at 1/50th for this? I always found it annoying having to go through the menus so custom buttons would be great for this! I just never bothered setting them up!

    I don't know if you have tried it but you can connect the Ronin S USB-c cable to c70. It's the same cable that is used for Panasonic GH5 cameras.
    It should be in the set with the gimbal. It will give you the ability to start and stop recording as well as pulling focus.
    It's not ideal but it is a fast way to have some focus control when you are in a hurry.
    Check it out and let me know what do you think about it I'm curious.

    • @RobinGuiton
      @RobinGuiton 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Ronin S isn’t compatible with the C70 - you can plug in the USB-C but no functionality between the gimbal and C70

    So I noticed when I flip the screen so I can view while I film in back of the camera it seems loose already. I really don't fault you for breaking the screen because it seems a little flimsy for a $5,000 plus camera. Honestly my R5C body feels a lot better to me but I love all these features.

  • @Dannyhallfilms
    @Dannyhallfilms 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Thanks for creating this video... and all the others on the C70. Feel like I've learned a ton on how to use my c70. Question if you have time:
    I have my custom 12 button set to Slow and Fast 120FPS. So just by pushing that button I can jump in and out of 120Fps and back to 24fps. So nice! After watching your video I was thought it'd be great to be able to do the same with 60Fps and still have face tracking available! I set my Custom 10 button to fame rate like you showed in the video. Super simple! I can easily sway in and out of 60fps. But now when I hit the 12 button for 120FPs is goes to slow and fast motion but the frame rate stays in either 60fps or 24fps in SF mode not 120fps. It's like its remembering what frame rate you were in or something? I don't know if I'm programming it wrong or if its a limitation in the button mapping? If you had any thoughts it'd be super helpful, if not no worries!

    • @SoundItOutFilms
      @SoundItOutFilms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea, you're not doing anything wrong. It's because the camera is switching into S&F mode, not a specific type of S&F mode (like specifically 120/24). One thing you can do to speed up the process of getting back to 120 is setting another custom button to be S&F Frame Rate which allows you to quickly up that 60 to 120 without going into the menus.

    • @theothermarkwilliams
      @theothermarkwilliams 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SoundItOutFilms Thanks for this, Eric. Still, this is actually insane that Canon would do it this way, isn't it? I mean, this actually makes the C70 (which I just got last week) *slower* at switching into various frame rates than either the R5 or the original R! On my wife's R5, I just have the memory slots (M1, M2, and M3) set for three different frame rates: 24fps, 60fps, and 120fps. Super easy to hit whichever mode she wants for a given shot. Even on my R, I can easily have 24fps and 60fps set up in those memory slots, with shutter speed saved along with it. There are several things like this with the C70 that are very odd to me.

    I appreciate this isn’t really the focus (no pun intended) of the video but did you have any issues with the C70 on the RS2? I bought the C70 to mainly be a gimbal camera and it used to work fine but recently, when connected to the RS2, it works for a bit but then the camera will freeze up. Only physically disconnecting the battery can reset it. I had a similar problem using my 1DX MkII on the original Ronin S and that got to the stage where the camera became unusable (even off the gimbal) and I had to have the main board replaced by Canon.
    I looked into it and found that the C70 isn’t actually supported with the RS2 which sucks. I was using the chat function on the DJI website and the person there told me they were developing a new cable (or something) to make it work. So disappointed.

    • @jacobkelso9150
      @jacobkelso9150 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This happened to me after the most recent firmware update on the RS2. The fix is to downgrade the firmware back to the previous one. I was having the same problem and was freaking out because I use the C70 on a RS 2 all the time. You can Google how to downgrade firmware as I don’t remember all the steps off the top of my head but it can be done on the Ronin phone app. The cable operates the C70 camera controls just fine. I had someone from customer service at DJI tell me the same thing but trust me the previous firmware works.

      @@jacobkelso9150 Cool, thanks for that! It was so annoying because it was working fine. It’s still usable but having to start and stop recording on the camera is a pain. I’ll look into the downgrade.
