Thank you for doing this! I was trying to find information on how EF lenses would work on the C70, knowing they aren't supposed to be as good as RF. This is really helpful since I won't be buying any RF glass, and I'll purchase the Canon adapter/speedbooster instead.
One thing I am wondering, and maybe you can answer, is whether the screen on the C70 is any less bright than the C100? I manage to use my C100 mark 1 outside all of the time (sometimes fashioning a cardboard hood), and I get by. People are complaining that the C70 screen is not great outdoors. Is it really that bad?
Great video! at the end are you referring to the lense stabiliation or the camera digital IS that you woulnt use?
Not lens IS. The digital IS apparently gets some information from the RF lenses that improves its digital is quality.
Thanks for being methodical. In body AND lens stabilization would be the way to go. Do you need a gimbal then?
C70s Digital IS works great for walking with wider lenses like a 16-35 with the speedbooster BUT it only works great when there is no Lens IS. 16-35 4.0 IS + Digital IS = Crap/jerky. 16-35 2.8 without IS + Digital IS = Really Organic. But on longer focal lengths the Digital IS solo isn't that effectiv and combined with Lens IS it's sticky but while walking really jerky...
Digital IS kinda doubles the work of Lens IS. In a positiv and negativ way. I would love to see an adjustable Digital IS. Sticky/jerky to Organic/shaky.
Correct me if I'm wrong my guy but I'm 99% sure that if the C70 detects that your lens even has the capability of IS then regardless of what you do on the camera it will not enable in camera digital IS. Canon has made this very hard to know, however from what I've been able to research when you throw on a lens that has IS and then try and enable digital IS the C70 will not enable it. This is why it works so "poorly" when you turn off the Lens IS and try and enable digital IS on this camera. From testing this seems to be true.
Yea totally, that’s why none of these tests had c70 IS on and lens IS off if the lens had IS.
How does this perform when you're actually moving the camera, like doing subtle pans? I often handhold my C100 trying to get a steady shot, and then use a little warp stabilizer to clean it up. Will I be able to get away without warp stabilization if I have lens and digital stabilization on with the C70? Thanks!
Thanks for the comparison, very similar to my experiences. I don't trust the Digital IS and prefer to just use warp stabilizer for those micro jitters. I'm keen to get the Canon 15-35 RF lens to replace my Sigma 18-35 and get that sweet IS goodness.

Is the is of the rf lense much better then a EF lense with IS attached via Canon Adapter to the c70?
Please do a test with RF lenses.
Hey, 'Breaking Bad' made a career out of using the shaking handheld shots though.... but it's only a style when you want it (and it's been used quite a lot; years from now we'll have to see how that ubiquitous shaky HH cinematography holds up in future viewers' eyes and minds)....
So any idea how the RF lenses work with stabilization on this camera?
Hey man! May I just ask why a 50mm lens on a super 35 camera looks like crap? Are you referring to the shake?

How does digital IS work? Does it crop in? Then do you lose detail? Is it still DCI 4K? Thanks
Thanks. What are the settings you are shooting in? Do you shoot in Rec709 or Clog?
I think I shot the tests in WDR and the roof A-roll in Clog2
@@SoundItOutFilms Thanks. Just wondering why switch it? Why not stay with one? Just asking because I'm having a hard time getting a good look with Clog2 even with perfect exposure. WDR is so easy and I can get a good adjusted look.
@@SoundItOutFilms So safe to say it's better to go with 24-105 (with IS) lens and take the hit on sharpness, rather than go with the 24-70 without IS?
Is that 70-200mm the RF or EF mount lens, and is it the f2.8 or f4, and is it the II or version III?

It was a while ago so I’m not positive… but I’m pretty much always shooting Clog2 or WDR
Would have love seeing walking stabilization shots towards and away from your subject. Something I saw a lot of is that awkward skewing when there is a lot of movement happening during shakes. Good video otherwise!

@@zataraadventures That mostly depends on your shooting style. Personally, I'd look into Sigma so you can have IS and a 2.8 with a 24-70

Yea, there is an enhanced IS mode that's only available in super 16 mode, but normal Digital IS is a very slight crop.

Well, walking is a job for a gimbal, digital IS is designed to stabilize small hand jitters
