  • I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
    I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
    Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

    The problem with these mystery boxes is that the sellers obviously pre-scan them before selling, so there will be only garbage in it.

      Same with these so-called Amazon returns pallets. The picture on eBay shows a pallet loaded with TVs and microwaves. But it doesn't come from Amazon, it comes from a 3rd party seller. If anybody had a pallet full of TVs, they would not sell the lot for $500. Then it says in the description that you just get a load of random junk, and the picture is just for illustration purposes.

    You can't really expect anything of much value in a lot sold on eBay. Anything worth anything is pulled out and sold separately. Still an interesting video and you definitely have some useful tools that you don't really need to worry about losing, lending out, or breaking

      not true at all. its rare but i sometimes buy coin boxes from Ebay and ive found multiple coins worth more than the boxes i paid for. even still,i agree partly with your statement that most Ebay boxes are searched through first. and you usually always never get more than 60%-70% of the value you paid for the box inside of it.

      The Sheffield ones will be good quality and worth probably what you paid on their own. Sheffield Steel in the UK was where steel production began in the Industrial Revolution. They maintained their quality as other places surpassed them in cost savings. Outside of your Japanese steels, steel tools from Sheffield are probably the best the Western World has to offer. Their scissors and knives are anywhere from £100+ so I imagine those multitools are about £150+ each ($225+).

    • @marktaylor865
      @marktaylor865 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's not entirely true. They don't care enough to sell them individually. That's why they sell them by weight. That said $250 is staggeringly over priced. That will not have stopped them purposefully pulling out the less good items for post cause he drove the price down.

Elk Ridge is a wholesaler of cheaper knives often sold at gun shows,flea markets and similar. Ozark Trail is Wal-Mart's "outdoors" brand. Sheffield as a brand is a ripoff of the placename in England known for knifemaking in the 19th century. Still, interesting to see what you got. Really enjoy your culvert videos!

    I once forgot I had my multi-tool in my pocket until I was just about to go through airport security. So I went to the store in the airport, bought a greetings card and a postage stamp, put the multi-tool inside the greetings card and sealed it up and posted it to my home address using the postal box at the airport. I avoided losing my multi-tool and it arrived at my house a few days later 🙂

  • @ChadAmI80

    It makes sense that you got a bunch of those cheap, put your logo on, promotional ones if this indeed came from the TSA. People traveling for business go to tradeshows and there is no shortage of companies giving stuff away at those conventions. I'm sure lots of people end up coming back from home and don't realize what they were given isn't allowed in a carry-on.

  • @Capydachi
    @Capydachi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +45

    I'd say most of those were picked up as freebies at trade shows/conferences and then had to be given up to TSA because a lot of business travelers would likely only have carry-on luggage

    Cabela's and "Big Bass Pro Shop" use the same gift cards (not sure if their the same company, or the same umbrella company). They are both fish and game stores that also stock outdoor living equipment and supplies. They are usually reliably good products. As a matter of fact, my camping kit is pretty much all stuff from them. Took about 20 years for the tent I bought from Cabela's to finally lose its water-proofing. It was an easy one to set up too. Some of those are total garbage, but some of them, especially with scissors or clippers, may be worth cleaning up and tightening or lubricating. I would probably take the cases of the ones you don’t like and fit them to the ones you do like. Maybe you could use more categories. I bet there are those really down on their luck that would still be happy to have multi tool if they don’t have anything.

I’m quite good with splicing Amsteel rope, hanging a hammock and pitching a tent. I once put up my 10’x20” Coleman10 person tent by myself. I camped with my friend and her daughter, they had her husband drive 3.5 hrs to Winthrop WA to set up her Rpod trailer cuz she’s chicken to do it herself. I brought my 1987 Coleman Columbia tent trailer and set it up solo. She didn’t even help with making dinner! She kept wanting to drive to town for Wi-Fi and food, lol. 🤦🏽‍♀️

      @@andrewut7ya511 its not entirely wrong assumption when some people make their hair color their entire personality and use it as a defining character for their ideology, politics and lifestyle.

If you have a car you should put a sign or a scrolling LED on it saying lol, “ I come in peace, I volunteer my time to clean out culverts etc. I’m providing a community service please don’t call the authorities… just a random thought that came to me.

    That "saw" on the CSL was actually a fish descaler and hook disengorger. The Eddie Bauer one might be an old Gerber. Interesting, if you're not familiar with Brookstone, Cabelas, Sheffield, Elk Ridge, Ozark Trails, Eddie Bauer, and a couple others you mentioned you must live in isolation. Anyone of them with advertising is most likely made in China. Some are ok. Confiscation is why I always travel with a cheap knife/tool and keep my good ones for normal use. The cheapmones sharpen easily and will do most other tasks once or twice. lol Thanks for showing us a cool grab box.

    The Stanley multitool is made in China, but the company at least applies quality control requirements with the factory.
    Brookstone doesn't make anything. The are a novelty store usually found in airports and catalog sales. The quality of the products they sell are usually better than generic but not great.
    Brand names usually don't mean much, as they a lot of them are just rebadged stuff you can get on Aliexpress. Except for a few brands that actually exercise control over the Chinese factory. This goes for almost ALL products these days. Very few products from American companies are actually made by the company.
    Basic rule of thumb, don't use brands to select products, they mean nothing, except for a *very* small number of brands.
    For instance SwissTech is an America brand meant to make people think of real Swiss products like Victorinox, except it's not. Their products used to be made in the US but now they are mostly made in China, and mostly sold through Walmart.

    Cabella's is a catalogue store (kind of like Walmart for outdoors activities), (if you ever see one at a mall/strip mall go in, just to experience it if only once in your life, even if you are not into outdoorsy type stuff, because they have the store set up beautifully, different each store, (they have taxidermist done animals stuffed all over the store, with info plaques telling you about the local wild life). The store sells everything for outdoors hobbies, from guns, and knives, to hiking boots. It focuses on hunting but there are fishing, canoeing, biking, camping, hiking, stuff they sell too. I am not a hunting enthusiast but I enjoy going in and looking at all the things Cabellas has to offer, because of the atmosphere.
