I'd would say this is one of the best and most complete albums I have heard for a very long time. genius is an understatement

"Mein irisch Kind, wo weilest du?" Has this song been immersed in so much Wagner it has taken him literally? Particularly the opera Tristan und Isolde, and its final scene, Isolde's Liebestod, with her final words "unbewusst, höchste Lust" (unaware, supreme delight).

un disque qui rappelle la période kimono my house propaganda et indiscreet les meilleurs sans oublier les deux premiers sparks et a woofer in tweeter's clothing j'aime bien aussi whomp that sucker. pour rappel en 1973 en France aimer sparks n'était pas de très bon gout car considéré comme un groupe pour midinettes. Hippopotamus est génial j'espère que c'est pas leur manière de nous dire au revoir. ILS SONT UNIQUE

Definitely my very unexpected favorite from this album. Such a different style for them. At first the opening riff reminds me of DEVO's song; "That's Good", and then I can just hear a ukulele in my head, played by Phil Judd, from the early days of Split Enz. (Who is, unfortunately known for having never ever played anyone else's songs but his own (or of his band) so I'll just imagine him singing this in his inimitable style.) Then this also reminds me, in some ways, of how U2 sounded when Brian Eno produced them, or a little bit like DEVO again, in their pre-WB days. I have just three words for this song. A - MAY - ZING! And I don't even understand all the words to it yet. The cherry on top of a fresh-cream-topped yumtastically flavorfully refreshing album from Sparks. Mesmerizing.

Gem from a joyous album. Well deserving top ten status in UK (first since propaganda 1974!) Saw them Hippo tour fortnight ago at Ritz M/cr. You haven't lived until you've seen Ron dance. Viva Sparks!
a bit repetitive but mostly engaging. It needs a completely ethereal break somewhere in it's last third. But otherwise outstanding.
