Sparks are the reason I never want to lose my hearing.
WHAT!?
@@howiegruwitz3173 huh
@@howiegruwitz3173 So
I understand you
🔝 👍🙂 Я такого же мнения.
My lord. This song is incredible. In fact, every song is amazing and now I just have to spend my days listening.
I mean, bloody hell it's magnificent isn't it? Manages to be an homage to a McCartney type tune and surpassing his latter day works by a country wide mile. I want them to go on forever and ever. And I know that they would if they could, and they will try. They are completely indefatigable.
It's like a Paul McCartney pastiche, but weirdly original and totally Sparks. Rock on, Maels!
Fantastic, a sniff of Norwegian Wood in it too.
Norwegian Wood for the Ikea generation.
Genius.
Scandinavia, I'm happy. Proper designs.
My god I love this song
I've got nothing, just a table and two chairs
But they're beautiful, and I just stand and stare
Time and space intertwined Elegance, simple lines
Scandinavian design I've got nothing, just a table and two chairs
But I know that everything I need is there
Every line, every shape
Sculptural, no escape
It's Scandinavian design Sometimes she comes over, I think I know why
Says the sky has bored her, what's wrong with the sky
Who am I to turn around
All that she thinks about
Scandinavian design She stayed over and we slept on wooden floors
She gets up at eight and tiptoes to the door
She turns 'round, subtle wave
Hums a tune by Sam and Dave
Scandinavian design Every line, every shape
Sculptural, no escape
Scandinavian designI've got nothing, just a table and two chairs But they're beautiful, and I just stand and stare
Time and space are intertwined
I can see this defined
Scandinavian design Most times she won't come, but I don't really mind
Has a job to do as some guy's concubine
Chandeliers, bric-a-brac
I know that she'll be back
Scandinavian design Every line, every shape
Sculptural, no escape
Scandinavian design Time and space intertwined
Elegance, simple lines
Scandinavian design
Beautiful...
Think it's Who am I to turn her out, not who am i to turn around.
Thanks, from a Scandinavian 😊
God bless Sparks....still going after all these years, Thank god it's not Xmas.
this sounds like 70's sparks very perfect!
Continuing brilliance from the brothers,
Great Sparks album
They always evolve with the times.Lots of good songs on this album.
This whole album is a masterpiece. Get the vinyl if you can. Just at the point where an old band should start to suck, these guys come out with something as good as any of their classics. I love Sparks so much.
So true! And when you think they cannot get any better they publish "A Steady Drip ..".
It seems that for these guys the best album ever is always the next one. Please, Maels: live forever!
Considering they've been putting out records since 1972, they should've started to suck no later than 1983. But they never have. Half a century of music making and the shark remains unjumped.
One of they're best.
Heard this song in a movie theater and i really liked it. Thank god i remembered one lyric from it so i could look it up lol
The last 40 seconds of this song sent happy shivers all over my body. This is beautiful, original music.
HA HA, yeah my kid loves that part. He pointed out that the song goes from the cold subject of Scandinavian design to a strange Country twang.
Chad Opitz It´s The Sparks, geniuses.
God, this is amazing. So, so excellent.
My heart is with Sparks all these years!
I feel guilty for not cheering louder when you performed this in Oslo last month, having grown up with Scandinavian design. I already regret the previous sentence.
Just too amazing... Really really fantastic song on an incredible album.
Love it! The boys are back! This one sounds like something 10CC would have written! :-)
But then better! :)
Sparks are way better than 10cc (which I love)
@@fredrikpaulun4956 I think 10cc would absolutely say, on the quiet, they were influenced by our dear lads. Sparks forever.
@@philrob1978 10cc were out in the early 70's and before that were called Hot Legs.
Another excellent band I listened to, but my heart will always be with Sparks.
This song should have been a single, what a great and catchy tune!
great song from a fabulous album
Heard this in a commercial at the movie theater and I really really liked it and had to track it down
must have been at the same theater or something?! small world
I heard it in a theatre but it was literally just like this whole song with a stationary image of the Chevy logo right before the movie.
Chicken Nuggets And Kevin Bacon same here my dude! Guess all 3 of us went to the same movie theater
Sarah P AMC?
Chicken Nuggets And Kevin Bacon actually no lmao. Maybe every theater sponsered by chevy played that song for a month
Greetings from Scandinavia
Yes amazing sounds every time every line no escape
Thank you :-) i have listened to your music , since Halfnelson ,, and i still listen to it , as much as i can ,, i saw you in Copenhagen this year ,, Sparks , are after all those years , and i am now 55 ,, simply amasing :-)
Enjoyed the gig at the O2 Shepherds Bush yesterday! This is a great song, too :-)
Makes me happy you made a song about Scandinavian design. I am from Sweden🇸🇪
My 14-yr-old kid's favorite song from Hippopotamus. He came with me to the NYC show. Our highlight of 2017.
awesome! loved these guys for over 40 years. up there with "don't leave me alone with her" from Propaganda
I'm not sure this is about IKEA. If you can't afford anything more than a table and two chairs, it seems to me some more classical design, maybe by Alvar Alto 🇫🇮, Arne Jakobsen 🇩🇰 or Bruno Mathsson 🇸🇪.
Then we talk money if you want to furniture your home in Scandinavian design style. 😄
I've still got furniture from my Mum when I was a kid. It's not Scandinavian but it's good wood! Norwegian Wood next.... :-)
@@PNEKarl, I have furniture from my grand grandparents🤪. From around 1880-1890. Still standing tall. No idea what sort of wood though😂. I probably have some piece of furniture from every decade since then up to today 😂, living in 'Antiques Road Trip' meets IKEA and Jysk😂!
(Jysk is a Danish furniture, especially beds, business chain.)
Great song and album.just quirky enough and so classic sounding.love this tune.
I've got two tickets for a forthcoming concert. I bought them two years ago as a birthday present for my son's 30th birthday. But the concert has been postponed twice because of corona and now it will be in April this year Next month my son will turn 32. Two generations loving Sparks. And yes, the album Hippopotamus is one of my favs.
This one is amazing!!!
She turns 'round
Subtle wave
Hums a tune by Sam & Dave
Genius throughout. Easily one of my all time favourite songs. I play it constantly.
Братья неконтролируемо прекрасны. Как и все 40 лет.
Superb track 👍🏻🙂
If I didn't know ahead of time, I would have thought that this was a new Paul McCartney song. It's very catchy and shows the vastness of the Marl brothers.
I guess I could call it MaelCartney. :D
If this appeared on McCartney's last album it would have been hailed a masterpiece. Sparks keep getting better whereas Macca on the strength of his last few albums should definitely retire.
this is fantastic, got to be one of there best ever
Simply lovely, sounds like a Christmas song, should be called 'Home for Christmas one more time' with lyrics to match.
This music would have made such a great Christmas song.
How?? 😶
Thanks for putting a smile on my face !
Quite genious !
LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!
Fantastic
FANTASTIC
Try this, increase the speed to 125%. The song still works.
This song sounds like IKEA furniture looks.
Thanks I liked it
lol always with these guys
The more I think of it, the more I believe that the lines:
"Sometimes she comes over
I think I know why
Says the sky has bored her
What's wrong with the sky?"
is a wink to Billy Joel's "Scandinavian skies".🤔🤔
But of course it could be coincidentally. 🙄
Very perceptive - Hope your theory is proven one day but even if it isn't the case you at least showed you have an active mind.. This is my favourite track on the album , closely followed by the superb title track that still makes me laugh and smile.. Bought Kimono My House on vinyl soon after it was released and that has always been my fave Sparks album but this gives it an almighty shove
@@EnosEverything, I won't cry if it never will be proven 😂
"Active mind"? Sometimes OVERACTIVE, but there's a notable difference between thinking much and confused to thinking spirited and wisely.
Hm...
Much and spirited.🤔
There's a Swedish proverb ; "Even a blind chicken finds a grain" 😂
Anyway, I take that as a compliment, thank you 🤩
'Probably Nothing' 💖 All that brain activety...🥴 My memory is like trying to make oil stick in a Tefal skillet🙄, I can definitely relate.
'Giddy Giddy'! 😂😂😂Whenever you need help to smile!
'Unaware' and 'I wish you were fun' 💖 In their humble ways mind provoking, if one bother to care about the lyrics, but it's easy to miss. 'Unaware' slowly and gently rocks you like a cradle, and 'I wish you were fun' is so full of resignation behind a last attempt to be optimistic. (Something that I can trace in 'Self-effacing' as well)
'The Amazing Mr. Repeat' ❤️ Everything about this one! A comment on that song says: "3 minutes of Sparks perfection". Yes Johnny, I agree.
Neither 'Kimono..' nor Propaganda' will never fall out from my "Best Ever" list! 😁 💖
I'm waiting for Complaints to kick in at the start
They should play this in Ikea.
Did you say Norwegian wood?
Wonder if the Maels were tempted at any stage in this song to rhyme IDEA with IKEA... IFEAR not !!!
similar rhythm to "I'm Not" from INTRODUCING (1977)
like it
A girl of Scandinavian design (and with designs). The Southern California sky is a bore, as well as the seasons, of which there are none at all... but once she's here, she's staying here. He may yet come to despise each syllable in Scandinavia...
Ahhhhh... IKEA...lol.
The LongRanger INTERIOR DESIGN was a great album too ❤
If you buy IKEA stuff, you can afford more than the guy in the song. On the other hand, it usually don't last a lifetime 😂😂
(I know, had IKEA furniture in my home since the seventies. When it really was true about missfitting screws and so on. 🇸🇪
But is the song a tribute to IKEA, or is the girl in the song of Scandinavian design?
I just got reading glasses in the same design as yours....
it's like , no , it's not ever to out of fashion
Sounds like he's more in love with the table and two chairs than the woman sleeping on the floorboards unless they're scandanavian design too
Yes.... that's the point.
approved
I ai ai. Think this band is overratated but not enough. Or dissmissed. Enougghh. There's Kimono in mi house full of Propaganda. Washing down the Buulewaard . So many memories, musical, and visuals of city, of youth. Not just nostalgia, but living, still great pop music. That Edith Piaf song, and video, is great!! Long live the Sparks! - At work, at Play, that Is!!
Reminds me of Norwegian Wood
Who else sees the advertisement of Joyn? Is that only in Germany? Because that music sounds A LOT like "I can't believe that you would fall for all the crap in this song" from Sparks. Do they have permission to use that music?
Not bad for a German band
They're from Los Angeles.
I think this is more of a parody on IKEA fad with young people. The whole, wow, this is Swedish and modern.....but its really just particle board bullshit.
Tell Russell! He has a load of IKEA stuff in his home. No, of course I haven't been there, but he has made a few videos from his home.
Or as the soccer player Zlatan Ibrahimovic said to a reporter in an interview, when Zlatan's girlfriend called about no furniture in their new home in LA. Zlatan told her to go to IKEA and buy. The reporter responded "Rich people don't buy their furniture at IKEA!?" Zlatan: "No? But smart people do."
Anyway, if you can't afford more furniture than what the guy in the song has in his home, you can start thinking of Bruno Mathsen, Carl Malmsten, Arne Jacobsen and the other famous designers instead.
