- W Series followed up a successful maiden outing at Hockenheim with another action-packed weekend including two new faces. Reserve driver Vivien Keszthelyi made her first appearance in place of Emma Kimilainen, who had aggravated an old neck injury during her accident in the first round. Second reserve Sarah Bovy made it a 19-car grid.

The breaks in between are really unbecoming.
Designed for commercials - I'd rather have the silence given the choice. Fast forward through them...
There was a time when you had to watch the commercials because it was on broadcast TV. It sucked. We are lucky we can fast-forward through stuff. Unfortunately, Utube is adding more commercials per video than was ever on TV.
Why the hell did they start the race with a car burning on the back row and probably dumping fluid all over the track?
Pretty poor marshaling from the track officials - should have been a delayed start, send the cars on another formation lap while you clear the broken car - then start the race like normal.
Aw crap - another safety car... I sense a theme of back marker torpedoes...

Totally agree, what an amateurish management of the start. Reminds me of the terribly unsafe F1 starts in the 70ies/80ies.
@@heathcliff8624 lots of drivers were seriously injured or died as a result of not being able to drive and do the seat belts up at the same time... I'm VERY glad we have gone away from that - though a standing start is always exciting.
not only that but the camerawork was absolute trash, why would you film the back of the grid at the start
Could have been just to get the cars rolling and away from the grid.

Very good defense there by Marta García, sadly i'm sure that kept her from geting close to the top 3; but i've heard that it's harder to make a good defense than going faster, so... good skill to have. Really good battle at the end between Chadwick and Powell, that's what we call 'tener manos' (to have hands) really good, and also good take over by the japanese driver on the chicane there; i kinda feel sorry for the nº77, that she was taken off the race and loosen the oportunity to show her skills. Good race and good track too
This is good stuff, pleasantly surprised.
Safety car is taking too much time, almost 50% of the race. Those girls needs the whole time.
1. add more marshals, or
2. make the clock stops or run slower a some factor or similar.
cars could run out of fuel with the 2nd solution.
They should work on clearing the track faster.
Why would P1 start off the racing line? Of course Visser got a better start she was on the clean side of the track and had a shorter distance to the ideal line into T1.
Happens in F1 too... e.g. Spa.
Give them at least bigger champagne bottles to celebrate omg.
Is Wohlwend German or from Liechtenstein? on different graphics there are different flags.
The flag on the car is liechtenstein. Its weird they showed a german flag in the driver standings.
It seems both is correct. The people of Liechtenstein are germans. :D
The flag reflects the country of her racing license. Liechtenstein probably doesn't have an FIA branch (unlike Monaco---for obvious reasons :D) so she must have gotten it from the German branch. She's had a Swiss one since 2021, and the flag that goes with it.

The country is nestled between Austria and Switzerland and they consider themselves Liechtensteiners (though historically, they are more related to the Austrian side).

Watching this after the 2021 races, it's amazing to see the progress, esp. at the start and in the first few laps. The series is clearly fulfilling one of its goals: giving these women a chance to build up their racing experience and gain confidence.👍Change in driver liveries is a bit confusing but it's great to have the names on the cars. Having both consistent liveries and names would be perfect. Understand if it's not cost-efficient though, better to keep the money for the racing 😊
Several of the commercials are off in timing. There's a 3-5 second period of black screen, and it's annoying because it seems to be in every video.
By the way at the 30:00 mark - it might be better to say 'stop driving in your mirrors'. As soon as you start worrying about blocking you are losing time.

I think Natalie Pinkham would make a great commentator for the W Series! She's been around F1 long enough to know what goes on on track and she could do a great job!.

Why are they changing the colors of the cars ? Jamie Chadwick was in a white-purple car, and now she is in the red one.. any point in doing this?
Our drivers swap cars every race weekend to ensure fairness - even though the cars are the same spec, we feel like this is the best way to make our series as fair as possible. In 2021 the drivers will still change cars, but their colours will go with them to make it much easier for fans to support their driver.

I feel like they should have called it Formula W---or something like F3W or FF3 to keep brand cohesion and recognition... Hard to make the connection between "W Series" and F1, F2, F3... Unless they're consciously doing the bare minimum so they can argue they're supporting female drivers, without taking any risks or actually giving them a chance 😅

I thought this was commissioned as an attempt to promote a woman to F1 after this I see it as a detriment to bringing a women to F1. Part reality show part amateur racing overall not good.
If any of the woman who really feel like they have the talent to get into F1 they need to take the same route the men do they have to race against the best to make and this definitely wasn't the best.

Driving 20 min in a F3 car vs 2 hours in a F1 car are worlds of difference. Woman might one day drive in F1 but they will never have the stamina to go through a whole race without dropping off pace of being exhausted.
