I am literally working out while listening to this. You can easily do light excercise while Netflix. Claiming we can only do one or the other, makes people not wanna excercise enough.
Thanks for mentioning the modern science. I agree with the quick fixes to avoid. There are PhD nutritionists who offer suggestions for long-term help which are exceptionally useful. Please, do a video on gut health referring to someone with lower budgets for those of us who are in school or wanting to save money for various reasons. Thank you for your time to make this video. It's so weird how our health changes as we age, and our gut is definitely a large part of it. When I was younger I was extremely high energy, ate like a horse but couldn't keep weight on, never had bloating or a stomach ache, walked at least an hour a day, and had tons of hair. I was naturally slim and healthy and looked like an athlete. Now, I am low energy, carry some extra weight, get bloated no matter what I eat, have periods of food sensitivities, and get stomach aches regularly. I have tried so many things but I haven't healed yet.
16:34 when I was 17 my dermatologist prescribed me clindamycin phosphate (an antibiotic) for moderate acne--until last weekend, I had no idea I've been using antibiotics for years, and that topical antibiotics can go into the bloodstream! I switched to OTC benzoyl peroxide immediately.
Coming from pharmaceutical science. I do appreciate your intake on how to stay healthy and well through food instead of supplements that many influencer are throwing at our faces. As much as some meds are amazing and cure diseases. It's also very very important to eat well to be able for your body recover. I'm so happy I found you on here 💜
My biggest problem with gut health is the fact that being neurodivergent changes it in ways nobody's ever bothered to research. I will never know if weird things happening with my gut is because of a gut-centered condition that I should be trying to remedy or just because I'm neurospicy and my gut is just like that no matter what I eat.
There is some interesting research that shows that neurodivergence may be very dependent if not at least very related to your gut health, or more specifically to metabolic factors (which are very much affected by gut health). You might want to look into this a bit. Here’s an interview with a Harvard Dr. on the effects of metabolic factors on mental health if you’re interested. th-cam.com/video/XM5qZXqTQ3s/w-d-xo.html
Nuta and seeds always make my gut irritated but i love legumes i found that by soaking them 13 hours (changing water) plus adding kombu and laurel and boiling them long time i can prep tons of it without getting bad gut issues especially lentils love em
Try to soak the nuts and seeds first in water for couple of hours. They contain some chemical that is irritating but soaking in water should remove it so should be ok for digesting them. The only nuts that don't need soaking is macadamia and brazil.

Drinking clay and taking supplements such as black walnut hulls, coral powder, fish oils and veggie smoothies helped me enormously! But all this in addition to meditating every evening and doing yoga and somatic exercises. When you work at a corporate job and you sit down too much and get stressed, you have no idea how bad it can affect your health. I was also exposed to a lot of mold and was living in a stressed environment, so I needed to go strong on healing my gut for the sake of my life.
8:53 i think as a doctor you missed a crucial point which is never stop taking the antibiotic yourself. Continue to take it as you try to reach your doctor or else you create a resistant infection, and you'll have to take an even stronger antibiotic
Yess Dr Faye!! You’d be such a good teacher! It’s crazy because I’ve been having my own gut health journey that initially started in trying to clear my acne but hearing all this definitely motivates to improve my gut health in general & for my internal health too! Thanks so much for the video it was perfect timing:):)
I have been OBSESSED with fibre in the past months, since learning how important it is for gut health. Now I view taking care of my microbiome like taking care of a pet. I wanna make sure I'm giving it everything it needs to thrive. The impact of the microbiome on our health is so interesting. For exemple, I had no idea it affected the strength of our immune system.
Gut health is a huge topic which covers many things. Gut is damaged mostly by our lifestyle and medications like antibiotics. Once you start having Digestion issues there are alot of things to check for. Stomach acid, digestive enzymes, bile function, gut lining, check for infections, gut flora and may be more. It is a huge process which takes time. But hope for the best.
I’m currently fighting what feels like a loosing battle with my doctors, I was 72kg this time last year and I’m currently 89kg. I workout 6 days a week and eat clean, I’ve had a thyroid, cortisol, diabetes, lipids and cholesterol test and they’ve all came back with nothing, I’m at a loss and just want to feel good again 😢
Same situation!! I had hyperthyroidism and undergone subtotal thyroidectomy 7 years ago, but my symptoms are relapsing even if my tests are normal now. I live a stress-free lifestyle but it seems like my body is always stressed. Losing my belly fat has always been a struggle, and i just keep on gaining even if i meal prep, daily yoga, and daily cardio :( At this point i honestly forgot what "normal" feels like already.
Hi there! Maybe journaling all your steps and workout can help you. Do you know if you're really in a calorics deficit or not ? Working out increases appetite and sometimes we " overeat" without even knowing it.Or you could have have the opposite problems: you do not eat nearly enough and so your body is storing fat at every occasion he can. Are you eating enough protein? Or getting good quality of sleep? You could have sleep apnea. Maybe you could have PCOS ? And every workout isn't meant for everybody: for example overdoing HIIT is bad for women. Or maybe it is your pilI ?I suggest you to go check 2 episodes of the Andrew Hubermann podcast on youtube : How to optimize female hormone and th eone with Dr.Stacy Sims. I hope I don't sound presemptuous. I hope I gave you some perspective. Good luck for your journey !
Hi Faye, I just wanted to tell you that this video sums up all the big things on gut health up. As someone who’ll start a masters in medical nutrition in two weeks, I just wanted to chime in and add that talking to a certified (very important) or registered (depending on where you are) dietitian can help you figure out what will work for you specifically to help with these issues. They have loads of info and resources to figure out what is causing your issues and how to help you fix them. Best, Anna
DR. FAYE, Thank you ,thank you for this information. I am so, so, so grateful for you. Your videos are so educational & entertaining! You are an inspiration ❤
thank you so much for this video! it was really helpful and i was just going to make some lunch so i will definitely add fiber and probiotics! and just in general i support evidence based sources of content like yours, not just some random tips, i love how u get into the way how things work and explain it for us so that we understand how ESSENTIAL it is to do these things because its about learning how ur body functions PROPERLY and helping it rather than just "i wanna fix my skin" type of goal and i wanna emphasize on one of your tips because i think its extremely important that everyone tries to remember this one: its NOT about perfection its about IMPROVING thank you once again❤️
Wonderful and informative video, thank you for this! I just wanted to clarify some terminology. The processed food you are referring too (e.g Pringles) is actually ultraprocessed foods. Processed foods are equivalent to homemade cakes or homemade preservatives like jam, or chutney.
If you have any type of histamine intolerance, please watch the sources of fiber and fermented foods you’re eating! Lots of fruits and veggies and nuts/seeds are high in histamines and oxalates that can cause mast cell activation throughout the body and fermented foods typically aren’t tolerated well by those with a histamine intolerance either. I’ve learned this the hard way and was getting worse symptoms after incorporating more of these things into my diet. Make sure you do your research and trial and error for yourself, everyone is different. What’s she saying is still valuable information, just know it may not be the best for certain people.
Great video! The only thing I don’t necessarily agree with is the majority of doctors (in America) are not dedicated to curing patients of the root causes of their diseases, which a lot of them start in the gut. They are concerned about masking a symptom so the saying talk to your doctor about this or that is unfortunately not always helpful advice. I think that’s why so many people are gullible when it comes to online trends for fixing gut health. They are desperate and the doctors here are not concerned about treating ROOT causes or digging deeper into specific labs and results.
Close to no new information nor actual, practical tips other than the mixed jar which was actually a really good idea, thanks for that! What exactly do you have in it?

Hey, I just wanted to comment to give you some hope. It's definitely gets harder before it gets better. Be patient with yourself. The problem with "talk to your doctor about taking antibiotics or probiotics" is that so many doctors know less than what this video already said. In particular e.g. dermatologists
Intermittent fasting has also helped me a lot. The bad bacteria can not survive as long as the good bacteria without food. I got alot of digestion issues from eating alot of fiber. But after starting intermittent fasting thing have become alot better
I’ve been avoiding watching this video and working on my gut health but I know I haven’t felt good in my body for so long. I will start by eating more Viber and go from there 💗
Frozen vegetables & fruits are also a nice options because they stay longer fresh and are often more budge friendly :) Very nice and sympathetic video, I really like that sleep and stress are named as well.
What are your thoughts on a bacterial overgrowth and consumption of probiotic foods?! is excessive gas just going to be exacerbated? Love this video by the way❤
I took the advice of my doctor and did two rounds of antibiotics for SIBO. It completely destroyed my gut and I haven’t been right since. That was a year ago and I am so bad now that I have to use a walker to get around. When I went back initially to tell the doctor how bad I was feeling the only recommendation that they could give was more antibiotics. Absolutely ridiculous!you think you can trust your doctors, but there are very few out there that actually know what they’re doing or care enough to find out what they’re giving and what the potential problems are before they write that prescription.
this was helpful! I just wonder if anyone knows what could be the reason for not gaining weight despite increasing calorie intake over months? I went to doctors back in February and was diagnosed with chest infection and got put on 2 antibiotics, I’ve explained to the few doctors that I’ve seen that I’ve never experienced such a weight loss and have never struggled with weight gain. They all laughed it off, thinking I was just not eating enough, but that is completely not true and made me honestly really depressed. I’ve done blood tests and stomach ultrasound and even chest x-ray as I was struggling to breath when I was sick but nothing dangerous has popped up. They also looked at my thyroid glands and they were fine. So here I am 6 months later still struggling with weight and breathing sometimes, wondering if going back to doctors is even worth the money and copious amount of stress
I’m so so sorry you’ve been dismissed! Unintentional weight loss shouldn’t be ignored :( of course I don’t have the whole story but I’d highly recommend trying to see another Doctor to see if they can offer an alternative perspective and possibly a nutritionist / dietician who might be able to offer advice and ensure you’re getting enough nutrition 🫶🏼 Again, I’m so sorry your worries have been dismissed and I hope you’re able to get to the bottom of it soon
There is proof you can relieve allergies from being as bad but should be done with the help of a doctor to be sure you dont over and / or under do the amounts of each thing and how often you should in order to become less affected as well as some chemical balancing in the body that needs to be done naturally
This gal means well but doesnt have the whole picture. Highly recommend the gaps diet that will help heal your gut. Best thing you can do is immerse yourself in understanding how the body works so you can figure out what your body needs. We're all a little different
Would love to eat more fiber if possible, but I've got so many food sensitivities it's impossible for me. Can't do carnivore either since too much fat makes me sick. Stress, antibiotics, poor diet - all contributers to the dire situation I'm stuck in now.
Would you be able to expand upon the topic of taking old antibiotics? It probably wouldn’t require an entire video, but I’m curious about the negative consequences of taking antibiotics that were prescribed in the past and are now just sitting in the cupboard. Are there any infections this would be okay for? (For context I’m American and doctors visits are so expensive!)
Appreciate that event through all that just like me yes this is something which is critical people are less aware of this however I noticed that you are looking sassy on the thumbnail of this video thank you for your homework
I've never heard of a diversity jar but I started mixing a teaspoon each of these powders in some water, once a day: gum arabic, inulin, tumeric (tastes revolting 😂) the first two are pre-biotics, tumeric is kind of one but not exactly I think. That, and increasing my water intake has resulted in what my wife calls a "happy toilet". It literally saves me time from not sitting on the toilet for half an hour a day 😂
Stress was definitely a big thing affecting my gut. When i was diagnosed with C-PTSD i would get massive bloating leaving me looking 7 months pregnant after even a tiny bite to eat! Every test i had came back clear, so me, my GP and the nurse I also saw all decided it was likely stress/trauma related. Big thanks to my ex for that ✌🏼🥴Thankfully i no longer have C-PTSD and my gut health seems to be really good 😊
Did your symptoms start specifically after the diagnosis? I remember my mental health was terrible when I learned about cptsd. Like thinking about it was the problem in itself.
@@FaCiSmFTW no, the symptoms started beforehand, I was in an abusive relationship and then after I ended it I had to go to court hearings related to it and the gut symptoms got even worse. Then I was diagnosed with C-PTSD, but I'd had the symptoms for months by that point.

There’s an eating program, not meant to be permanent, called GAPS or no-plant GAPS for gut healing, a lot of people do really well with it, Dr Natasha Campbell McBride
I appreciate your view on this subject as a doctor with someone who is more kind towards modern life and current lifestyles.
Thank you so so much! I’ll definitely get to work on the gut health on a budget video 🫶🏼
I'm so happy I found you on here 💜
When you already have developed IBS, you should consider few week low FOD MAP diet first and than gradually add fiber overtime.
can you talk about gut health during your period? how period can affect your digestion and how to help it etc
@@magdalena9346 sadly i think its fue to histamine intollerance i am a bit susceptible to those kinds of foods but thanks for the recommendation anyway♡
Please, everyone, do not forget to pray for the people in South Gaza, as they are facing a hard time with starvation. Your thoughts and prayers can make a difference during this difficult period
Thanky you for the effort you put in the videos and also sharing your personal journey, while being vulnerable on the internet. ❤ EXCITED for the sleep video!
🥲🫶🏼 thank you so so much for the kind words!! Sleep video should be up in the next 2 weeks!
Where have you been all my life?? This video was so helpful. I love your sensitivity and understanding that eating perfectly isn’t really possible in this world, but your tips are so helpful. Loved this video and feel so hopeful and excited to improve my gut health. New subscriber here, and I’m excited to binge watch your other videos! ☺️🎉
thank you so so much for this! I think we can all agree that having a video like this online that is truly backed up by science and isn't just some fashion influencer telling us the next big thing is so incredibly helpful!
🥹🥹🥹 so so happy you found the video useful!!
Please could you do a video on ways to calm our nervous system?
Gut-brain connection. Heal your gut with L-Glutamine and your brain health will follow.
Would love a video on how disordered eating messes up youR GI/body! Or how to heal a disordered relationship/how you did
Drinking clay and taking supplements such as black walnut hulls, coral powder, fish oils and veggie smoothies helped me enormously!
L-Glutamine will heal your gut health.
This was soo well researched and thorough 👍👌
Thank you so so much 🫶🏼🫶🏼
8:53 i think as a doctor you missed a crucial point which is never stop taking the antibiotic yourself.
Same... im so frustrated..
Try looking into Dr brooke Goldner. Her hyper-nourish has reversed several types of diseases including but not limited to lupus.

Thank you so so much 💖💖💖
This was so well said I actually watched the entire video as a podcast compared to others 😭
Thank you so much!
thank you so much for this video! it was really helpful and i was just going to make some lunch so i will definitely add fiber and probiotics! and just in general i support evidence based sources of content like yours, not just some random tips, i love how u get into the way how things work and explain it for us so that we understand how ESSENTIAL it is to do these things because its about learning how ur body functions PROPERLY and helping it rather than just "i wanna fix my skin" type of goal
and i wanna emphasize on one of your tips because i think its extremely important that everyone tries to remember this one: its NOT about perfection its about IMPROVING
thank you once again❤️
I have no issues with my gut it's working good . I'm hear now because I like you 🎉🎉
Thank you so so much 🫶🏼🫶🏼
Wonderful and informative video, thank you for this! I just wanted to clarify some terminology. The processed food you are referring too (e.g Pringles) is actually ultraprocessed foods. Processed foods are equivalent to homemade cakes or homemade preservatives like jam, or chutney.
Please can you film a video on meal prepping gut healthy food on a budget for a week 🤍
What’s she saying is still valuable information, just know it may not be the best for certain people.
excellent explanation with the paintballing and painting by numbers example
Her: “Stress affects the gut micro biome”
Me: *Searching up signs of ovarian cancer* 😀
😭😭😭 im so sorry, step away from dr Google
Best thing is to stretch while watching ur favorite series 😍
Just wanted to say that I just found your channel recently and it has been amazing. Your videos are so well made (look & content), the information is always so helpfull, actionable and relatable. Thank you very much for your videos. The evidence based onces give me some 'Natacha Oceane' feels, which I love and the more 'vlog-types' are just such a nice way to relate that everybody has their struggles, their happy moments, ... Thank you!
You forgot about to increase stomach acid which is the most important thing
Thank you, that was magic! 😮❤
currently i am suffering from bacterial vaginosis and yeast infection since one year now. at first i didnt even know what these diseases were. but i finally decided to go the doctor and he prescribed antibiotics. nothing worse than them. the infection kept on recurring. so now afte rone year spending in the loophole of doctors and meds i finally decided to change my diet as suggested in the vieo and i am healing slowly. also if u can please spread awarness on bv and yeast infections too
I’d luv atkins keto peanut butter cups… Tastes like Reese’s cups with no preservatives, colors, refined sugars, heavy salts.
Recently my doctor prescribed me an antibiotic and probiotics (Symbyosis Alflorex). I've been eating as healthy as I can, also avoiding dairy, but nothing seems to help enough. Praying I get better this time 🙏🏻
Hey, I just wanted to comment to give you some hope. It's definitely gets harder before it gets better. Be patient with yourself. Your body is still adjusting to the changes it's going to take time to purge all the icky stuff. :) Keep to it, and I promise by the 2nd month you'll feel a whole lot better. ❤
@@PickleNugget Thank you so so much for giving me hope, I really needed that!! I wish you all the best
Try raw milk and raw kefir
I don’t know if it’s possible to edit, but I caught a couple of typos on your title cards: ‘anitboitics’ at 8:00 and 8:10 and ‘sedantary’ at 9:18.
Anyway, thanks for distilling all of this info into a single, easy-to-understand video.
Love the idea of a diversity jar!
Refreshing approach!
Great video, thank a lot to explain so well. 🤘
that diversity jar is genius!
The problem with "talk to your doctor about taking antibiotics or probiotics" is that so many doctors know less than what this video already said. In particular e.g. dermatologists
why the hell would you talk to your derm about this. Talk to your gp!!!
Which nuts are best? The diversity jars sounds intriguing, please do a video. 😊
macadamias
You are now a doctor. Congratulations ❤🎉
Intermittent fasting has also helped me a lot. The bad bacteria can not survive as long as the good bacteria without food. I got alot of digestion issues from eating alot of fiber. But after starting intermittent fasting thing have become alot better
You’re so funny and so helpful, i love it😭💗
I’ve been avoiding watching this video and working on my gut health but I know I haven’t felt good in my body for so long. I will start by eating more Viber and go from there 💗
I love your lipstick 😍which one is it? 😊
How do you edit your videos so nicely.
wow really glad I stumbled upon this channel
Faye 🙏🤗. The tips and just the topic about focus 🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫂Yess
Frozen vegetables & fruits are also a nice options because they stay longer fresh and are often more budge friendly :)
Very nice and sympathetic video, I really like that sleep and stress are named as well.
wow your editting is so good
this is such an informative video thank u smm
What are your thoughts on a bacterial overgrowth and consumption of probiotic foods?! is excessive gas just going to be exacerbated? Love this video by the way❤
Great video !!! Thank you
I took the advice of my doctor and did two rounds of antibiotics for SIBO.
Unintentional weight loss shouldn’t be ignored :( of course I don’t have the whole story but I’d highly recommend trying to see another Doctor to see if they can offer an alternative perspective and possibly a nutritionist / dietician who might be able to offer advice and ensure you’re getting enough nutrition 🫶🏼
Again, I’m so sorry your worries have been dismissed and I hope you’re able to get to the bottom of it soon
Try a detox bath with montmorillonite clay and boron chelate
You are so captivating
A lot of veggies are with pesticides that means veggies are making you more inflamed. Whole grain to, big step back from that to.
Gut is protein and fat, where they thrive. Fruits are ok as long as you stay away from processed food.
My stomach always feels upset and everything goes through me constantly, it happened after I got a parasite in the gut. Never been the same
Heal your gut with L-Glutamine then proceed with black walnut hull supplement to remove parasites. Wormwood also works great.
Try animal-based
I would love to hear more about diversity jars!
Hawt! Doctor! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😄
There is proof you can relieve allergies from being as bad but should be done with the help of a doctor to be sure you dont over and / or under do the amounts of each thing and how often you should in order to become less affected as well as some chemical balancing in the body that needs to be done naturally
What are your thoughts on kombucha/kafir? Thank you so much for this video, super important and informative!
Love love LOVE probiotics found in food like kefir and kombucha! 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
Not me watching this hand deep in a tube of smoked paprika pringles 💀
They’re just so good xx I can’t blame you xx
My favorite as well!! 😭
This gal means well but doesnt have the whole picture. Highly recommend the gaps diet that will help heal your gut. Best thing you can do is immerse yourself in understanding how the body works so you can figure out what your body needs. We're all a little different
Absolutely yes to diversity jar!
You really remind me of young Kate Bosworth :)
What´s your body care routine and which products do you use for your body? And how do you get a healthy body glow and tan?
If I wanted to create the perfect diversity jar, what should be in it? 🥰 Such a smart idé to mix it all and put it on your porridge 😍
@@jesscalea oh ok that's very real. Glad you're doing well now. What do you think helped the most?
Hi Faye What seeds to put in diversity jar? Or what to put in in general?
At the moment I’ve got cashews, pine, pistachios, chia seeds, almonds and walnuts! But it changes ✨
The healthier you eat, the more generally gross processed foods are. They just straight up don't taste good.
Thank You ❤️❤️❤️
I’ve heard that how you take care of your teeth can affect the gut health. Is that true or false?
Very true.
Hi, can you make a video about IBS? I have this condition and I eat enough fiber and healthy foods, but I still have a lot of discomfort and pain.
