Man it never ceases to amaze me watching you clear the lens with your left thumb while riding downhill thru rocky terrain around sketchy trees and corners while steering with only your right hand. Serious bike control dude. 💪🏼 17:44 for reference.
Yeah, I don't watch as much POV as I used to and mostly just watch Seth ... BUT Phil is and always has been an instant click and full watch. I love his commentary and his riding is one-of-a-kind ... Plus I'm in the Northeast so he rides a lotta the same stuff I do, albeit just a tad better!
Same. It blows my mind that o watch him ride the same trails I ride and does them at Mach 12 and sends gaps I didn’t even know existed and just gives a “woohoo”. Very fun to watch
Just (hopefully) in the last bit of recovery from nerve issues in my back. Videos like this keep me motivated to keep pushing to get back out on my bike. Thank you
Hey Phil, I thought I saw you at the lift but didn't want to intrude. You definitely opened a few lines I had not thought about lol.... saw my car at the end of your video to confirm you were there on Saturday. Great video and yes, Bromont is kind of a public secret ;-) Which one was your favourite trail?
Quebec is such an awesome mtb spot. Been really enjoying long weekends there. Wish NY would follow suit but at least I’m in a part of NY where I can goto VT just as quick.
@@SkillsWithPhilexact more secret than marked trail , labatt 50 chainsaw wallnut slabaconda just to name few of them these trails are insane and very gnar and steep they are secrets for a good reason !
@@SkillsWithPhiloh yeah nice so maybe some from the enduro trails! I was hoping you did film it! We saw you there sunday but didnt want to bother you guys lol Way better condition than freshly made DH trails..don't know what they're thinking over there but they'll just have to redo everything once again! 🤦♂️
This is a personal list, most favorite to not my favorite: Bromont, Highland, Thunder, Mountain Creek, Bolton, Killington, Burke, powder ridge. They all have their pluses and minuses, and can all be fun with the right group.
Hi Phil. Thanks for this video. I live in Owen Sound, Ontario Canada and can get to Bromont in 8.5 hours. I can get to Mont Saint Anne Quebec in 12.5 hours. My 16 year old son and I are planning a downhill mtb trip for summer 2025. We have lots of trails riding experience but nothing specifically downhill. Is Mont Saint Anne worth the extra 4 hours drive or should we go to Bromont? Or should we come to Killington? It is 9.5 hours. In your opinion, which resort should we visit?
You can go to Bromont. On the way back take a detour and hit MSS, Mont Blanc. The spend a couple days in the Ottawa area and pedal VÈLO MSM in Mont Ste Marie (approx 1 hour north of Ottawa), finish it up with some gnarly laps at Camp Fortune. That would be a fun trip.
I'm a middle of the road kind of person. Long chasinstays put your weight more centered on the bike and give it front wheel more traction and they are more stable over choppy terrain. Short chainstays are snappier, and easier to lift the front wheel. I run my force in the short position, but i never bothered trying the long position because it feels good enough.
I used to ski a lot as a kid and never cared but for some reason, I'm now scared to death of heights lol I really want to ride my bike in Winter Park and other places here in CO but lifts scare the shit out of me. I don't want to have to drink in order to sooth the nerves...anyone have any tips?
While i can't relate, I've heard this from other people, so you aren't alone. Im actually semi afraid of heights but chairlifts don't phase me. I can only attempt to help. Number one tip I have is to not look directly down. Look in front, to the side, but resist looking below your feet. It might be worth visiting small resorts with slower lifts. The big resorts often have big spans between their towers and the chairs are higher off the ground. Itd be much easier to get comfortable with lifts at a small resort and work your way up. Lastly, how often do you fall off your couch or diner room chair? I bet it's pretty close to never. A chair lift isn't too much different. Also, having friends to keep your mind at ease and talking throughout the ride probably wouldn't hurt. I'm not sure if any of this is at all helpful, but i wish you the best of luck.
@@SkillsWithPhil I really appreciate you responding, Phil! I saw your message when you responded but had to go to bed and didn't double back so my apologies. I'll look up some places that might have smaller lifts because you're right, the major ski lifts are way the hell up there and it's daunting. We took the kids up the Gondola at Winter park and my kids were nervous so I had to play it off like nothing was wrong but little did they know I was dying inside lol...I hate it because I was never afraid of heights as a kid nor have I had anything traumatic happen...it's so weird...even when riding my dirtbike I'm afraid to be up in the air when hitting jumps even though I used to smash triples and other big jumps when I was younger... Might just have to suck it up and care more about the journey down the hill than the journey up.
I don't really, i just know when i get mud on my goggles there's a good chance my GoPro lens also got muddy. It's also lower down and more susceptible to mud flinging off my tires.
Sam Thibault. We are in a french part of Canada here, in Quebec, so we all speak french...doesnt mean we have connection with everybody that speak or have french name! Haha
I have a question about berms. If anyone know how do I stay in control on the berm when I am going fast because a lot of the time I have to slow down a lot so I don’t go flying off the side. Is there anyway to do it without losing speed?
Honestly yes. I'm not terribly far and I'm ashamed that I've never visited besides for the one race i did in 2011! A++ trails. It's not quite whistler status but there's so much to enjoy and explore.
Phil is real and doesn’t sit there and advertise the shit out of products. His video style is realistic, dude has a life outside of making videos (volunteering making mtb trails) and rides better than all TH-camrs aside from winning World Cup runs by Loic Bruni. If you wanna watch some cheese ball advertise and hype up products and bikes for no reason you shouldn’t watch this authentic down to the core mountain biker (Phil).
We had enough footage that there's a second video from this day th-cam.com/video/n0XMI5rejaU/w-d-xo.html

I was going to say the same…all casual like too
I giggle more watching Phil ride than any other TH-camr. He has more skill in his pinky toe than I have in my whole body.

inquiring minds want to know... did you eat it @5:15 on that wood bridge when the video inexplicably cuts? xD

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK PHIL! Love your content
Thanks! Will do!
@@SkillsWithPhilyou should come out to New Brunswick Canada. We have some really nice downhill parks, and some free biking parks as well.
@@matthewbrocke4298bro the only downhill parks we got in nb with lifts is Poley and sugarloaf
Finally! Phil in my hood! Amazing to see you ride these trails! Hope you went and tried the enduro side too!
The level of Skills in Canada just went up big time
Awesome video and cool to see you in the trail i ride 🤘🔥
this is a great video!!!! Ride on brother! I just started my own bike riding channel too. thank you for inspiring me to step out and share my passion.
Was nice meeting you at dinner ! Fun day :D
Awesome riding. You and Adam were ripping!
Snow making hose= pressure 😂 when you wash your bike, great vid and nice to see tristan on the jump line though🙌

That was sick. Looked cool.
You're so fast on the turns🥶
Fun stuff...loved the Anaheim Supercross mud reference, had no idea you followed SX.
I'm a casual follower :)
Those wet bridges will give me nightmares now.
If you can take a look at Victoriaville its a free acces lil montain but perfect for the locals
Phill come to Poley mountain in NB Canada it’s small but fun.chairlift up and like 8-10 trails rn! I’d love to see you there and get a picture
It gets boring after a while tbh
I saw my first DH race at Bromont in 1992, now the blue trails are probably harder than the OG DH course 😂
Not sure what the 92 course looked like but the WC course they ran most recently was definitely spicey. Hope to see it come back
Hi Phil, are the contis better than the maxxis?
Bromont is awesome. I ride those trails just like you but slower and more awkward.
You are the best ❤
I'd love to see Phil and Alex do a series together. Send Phil to Peru with Alex.
The 20 top to bottom is hand down the best trail. Plus the secret trails on the “village” side. Well still glad you enjoyed it
I've been told there's more secret trails than marked trails! Anyway I have more videos coming from the weekend. :)

Yes they do! Lots of them. :)
