@@emaselaive3540 tbh this is bad way to solve al quetions like this i have a better one If we have 0.3 we can solve it as an equation like x=0.33333 then multiply it by 10 so we have now 10x=3.33333 then we will minus the first equation from the second equation like x=0.33333 And 10x=3.3333 So now we have 9x and 3 Then x=3 over 9 And thats it
Another way to think about it is to see 0.7 recurring as the value x. x=0.777... which means 10x=7.7777... then if you do 10x - x you get 9x 7.7777.... - 0.7777... =7 9x=7 so to get x on its own you would do 7/9, and keep it as a fraction. If you had 0.63 recurring you could do it the same way, only with 100x x= 0.6363... 100x= 63.6363... 100x - x =99x 99x = 63 so x = 63/99
Why couldn't I get a maths teacher like this back in the 90's? Ours, in almost every year just plonked maths books in front of our noses & once in a blue moon, wrote some sums on the whiteboard. It is no wonder why i got a G in Maths! Now 32 I'm self studying GCSE maths & I have really come to realize that I'm a lot more intelligent than that failed G grade! I'm very grateful to you maths520 for making these videos. Its amazing what the Internet can do for learning compared to the mid 1990's!
O hell I've really been struggling with factorization because I'm rubbish at times tables, but with your little nugget about adding the digits to find a common factor has made me see how easy it really is. I owe you a massive dept. Your the first tutor in years that's been able to get through my dyslexia.
THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING WITH THIS FOR A WEEK BUT U JUST SOLVED IN 9 23 MINUTES
Thank you. I wished i knew this 35 years ago. Now I am showing this to my 12 year old son. It is going to help him massively in high school maths and physics.
wow, I've always been taught a different way by my teacher and never fully understood it but you have explained it much more clearer. Thank you so much :)
if there is a natural number to the left of the decimal point, such as 1.024242..., pretend the "1" is a zero, and do 0.02424... put 24 over 99 (24/99) and divide that by 10 (24/990) Then all you have to do is put that "1" in front of it and get 1 and 24/990. Hope this helps :)
Thank you so much, for helping me I have a test tomorrow and I was clueless at first, but now I fully understand this topic and I’m ready for tomorrow !! 😁😃
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise? I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life… He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.
It's been a week and I'm still reviewing this video. Well done, this video has helped a lot and has introduced me to a new topic. I've seen people in the comments say it's supposed to be done with algebra and I've thankful I learnt this; I don't like algebra. Hello anyone from 2020 and onwards!
wwooooow. i've watched and read so many explanations about this topic and did not understand ANY of them! UNTIL i watched this video!! you're an amazing teacher :') thank you so much!
Great video, very helpful. Have to make a small critique, at 7:10 1,080/9 is not 220, it is 120. That was the only thing I found wrong. Otherwise, well done.
My teacher is an immigrant and I do not understand a word he's saying,thank you so much for making this video and explaining it with a very simple method.
so much better than my math teacher's explanation. Your way of explaining is very simple and makes me look at recurring decimals like it's a very easy math problem.
i understand this now. But there's one question: you know when you worked out 0.4(recurring), what would you do if it is 0.213 (where the 1 and 3 are recurring and the 2 isn't)?? Please let me know! Btw I'm only year 10
Its so much easier to understand then when a teacher explains it. Im in year 8 and were having a test on recurring decimals and converting them to fractions tomorrow. I was sick today and I was rly worried about the test and I found this video they are so much easier now omg thankyou so much :D

Another way to think about it is to see 0.7 recurring as the value x.
x=0.777...
which means 10x=7.7777...

7.7777.... - 0.7777... =7
9x=7 so to get x on its own you would do 7/9, and keep it as a fraction.
If you had 0.63 recurring you could do it the same way, only with 100x
x= 0.6363... 100x= 63.6363...
100x - x =99x
99x = 63
so x = 63/99
That doesn't work
It does

thats a harder way tho
