1:10 Effects of stress on the body
3:30 Preventing stress and how to deal with stress
8:28 Learn more about what causes a vitamin B1 deficiency!
Let’s talk about stress. I recently experienced a stress event, and I want to talk about what happens in the body when a person goes through something like this. We’re also going to discuss how to get rid of stress and how to prevent stress.
Certain stressors on the body, like exercise, heat therapy, or cold therapy, are in your control and have positive effects on the body.
But, negative stress is out of your control and can have harmful effects. This lack of control could be related to a situation, condition, or relationship.
In a stress state, you have a lot of involuntary glandular secretions and reactions occurring. Two parts of the body have both involuntary and voluntary control: the diaphragm and skeletal muscles.
Controlled breathing exercises and walking are powerful to put yourself back in control of these systems and pull yourself out of a reactive fight or flight mode.
It’s also important to understand that a vitamin B1 deficiency can mimic mild hypoxia and trigger your stress reflexes. Vitamin B1 is crucial to help pull yourself out of a stress state and even prevent stress.
Overall, the best things when dealing with stress are:
    1. Controlled breathing exercises
    2. Walks
    3. Vitamin B1

Even once I was 30 and married to a wonderful person and living a stress-free life, I still couldn’t relax or feel good. The childhood PTSD stays in the background ruining your mood. • @IAMSatisfied

As a teen I worked on a small farm and was running an old 9N tractor on a slight side-hill with a bucket of gravel held WAY too high... with the eventual result that the tractor started to tip sideways. Fortunately, I had the presence of mind to drop the bucket arms immediately and averted a catastrophe. It didn't affect me afterwards, as I probably didn't realize how close I came to severe injury/death (ignorance is bliss in some instances).
Fast forward to 16 months ago, I get assaulted by a mentally ill individual with anger issues... now THAT was stressful. The adrenal dump & drain response was like none other I'd ever experienced. I realized I've never really been in an event to that degree where I was not in control. Since then I've seen videos of male Grizzlys tangling, and the after effects of the intense adrenal dump are amazing... they're stumbling around practically lock-legged with drool flowing from their mouths in a state of shock. It makes me really appreciate my relatively peaceful life.

Glad you are here Doc! Dr. Berg you should do a video on "Box breathing". I couldn't sleep last night. I mean I did EVERYTHING. I turned off all the lights, the phone, cooled the room down, took off my socks, tired long deep breaths. Didn't work. I was tossing and turning for 2 hours with automatic bombardment of intrusive, involentary and stressful thoughts where I could hear nothing but my heart beating, which made it worse, not to mention that I needed to go to work the next morning so my mind was like a magnet to the clock wondering how much time I have until a strenuous day of 3:30 AM work..
Then I tried what I heard, "box breathing". I did it. Within 15 minutes I was dozing off to where all the current and future stresses and worries just kind of faded into nothing except calm and comfortable enviorment. I think the pause AFTER exhaling is what made the difference in my experience than normal controlled breathing. Heart rate went under control and my body was getting that floating feeling with no disturbances. I recommend it to those having this problem!

I practice Yin Yoga and Qi Gong everyday. Breathing is very important, especially if you're not advanced. However, if you're advanced, then you will be able to let go of stress, even without doing breathing exercises. If there are few or no blockages in your energy system and the Qi (life force energy) can flow abundantly through your meridians, then your Qi field/energy field can even absorb Qi, even without doing breathing exercises. The body is also very relaxed then, sometimes even so relaxed that it feels like you're floating in infinite space. It also feels like you're connected with everything and everyone. What a great way for me to heal my autism.

You are my Dr. that said, lower your load and drive backwards for more safety. Approach any wire or surface with the back of your hand, this will throw you away from danger instead of grabbing ahold of it! So happy you are still with us! 🙏🏻

I tell you something. For a few hours following panic or extended states of this hyperstressed state I feel like I just can't stop having to pee. It's insane. I run to to the restroom over and over with urgency. I have learned how to actually stop most panic attacks when they are about to happen or even when they are actually underway. This that you describe here is one way I do that. Another way is grounding exercises. While breathing (focusing on the long exhale of course) I look around for things I can see, feel, hear, taste, smell or I look for varying things like, 5 red things, 5 blue things, 5 green things etc... It really helps get the mind back on track.

Your videos are always on time. I have been searching your videos for tingling on right side of face. (Soreness around cheek bone, ear affected, feeling infected, etc around cheek bone underneath and around right side). I got a new wire on my brace 2 weeks ago, and last week had teeth cleaned. I found a video and I am now massaging the opposite side of my face and it is feeling better. Being a “Baby Boomer”, I will call my doctor today. Dr. Berg you have taught me so much. I could go on and on about the details of the information you provide. I have referred your videos to others for information. Thank you so much.

Wow, that is a super Duper powerful story you shared.
I’m so happy you are OK and for sharing the process that you went through.
I teach TRE or tension, trauma prevention exercises, and it is about allowing those muscles to shake off the tension and trauma, and return to a parasympathetic state.
It’s amazing that children and animals go through this process so naturally.
Thank you again for taking us through the whole process and again I’m glad you’re safe and healthy.💪🏻✨🙏🏻
