My friend actually had the opposite reaction to this revelation with the context that the prescripts aren't truly "random" (they always inadvertently aid the index even if it doesn't seem like it would) he had the opinion that why would people not follow the closest thing the city has to an omniscient god that always knows what moves to make
The reason yan distorts is essentially because he can no longer accept the situation,the will of the city is something unfathomable to him so when the voice speaks to him it tells him to give up,stop trying to understand and think and accept the tragidies as the will of the city as a consequence he stops moving foreward of his own volition walking the path laid out for him,the whole thing is a bit like philips see no evil and hear no evil stuff but instead of that he gives himself up so he doesnt have to see reality and then henceforth the will of the city is his will

I think that the idea of the Prescripts was the most horrifying thing in the game, far outclassing Love Town and the WARP train. Yes they’re dumb and nonsensical and random noise and yet we’re constantly reminded that it’s not quite so random. They apparently benefit the Index in some way or another and Yan’s actions in fabricating prescripts are specifically called out by them. If they’re controlled by the random vibrations of the City, there’s no way they should be that coherent, and yet they are. It’s like the monkey typewriter room, only every single page they type out is Hamlet, or even every page they type is detailing what you yourself did that day. It’s scary to see what should just be randomly generated nonsense consistently show itself to be non random because it makes you wonder what exactly it is that’s making those messages. Add in the more personal aspects of it knowing exactly what you’re doing at all times and the fear of losing or having never had free will that Ruina brings to the mix makes the entire concept deliciously terrifying in my opinion.

So maybe the first batch is perfectly readable, the next is in Russian, the next is in binary, the next is using Caesar Cypher, the next is completely written in anagrams, and so on.... So for the common eye, the text is illegible, but for someone who plays very VERY close attention... Well that someone probably would end up scared shitless, specially if the text is his entire life history...

Tip for the Rapid Gashes/Clone build, it's basically tailor made for Yujin's key page since she restores 2 light from cards who's ORIGINAL cost is 4 or higher. So even Rapid Gashes who's cost becomes 0 still restore 2 light.
By the way, Purple Tear is one of the tallest characters in the game. She's like 195cm tall IIRC. Her only competition are mainly monsters like Tomerry.

First: Congratulations on beating Distorted Yan and The Purple Tear. I can't speak for their difficulty, but from what I've heard they are some of the strongest and most challenging bosses in the game, hence why they're placed alongside Xiao and R-Corp Round 2. ...Secondly, congratulations on basically completely disregarding any and all semblance of advantage during your fights and still coming out on top. Late-game receptions are extremely EGO Page heavy, and while I can't speak for how much they'd help in these fights, I'd wager they would have made your workload significantly lighter on the boss department. And you proceeded to win without even using them. I'm honestly impressed, genuinely speaking. Hoping that History gets their time to shine again soon- You're nearing the endgame, after all, and it'd be wonderful to see the History Team participate in the final stretch. Great work as always- Oh, right, a few more things. Purple Tear is notoriously good as a page, and her combat pages are also busted as hell when applied correctly. Now, I won't tell you how to use them- figuring out synergies with Abnormalities and other cards is part of the fun, but if you do manage to utilise her correctly you've got one of the best combatants in the entire game. Then again all of SoTC Tier 3 is powerful, so there's nothing much to say on that department. Distorted Yan's pages are also probably great, but I haven't seen enough of the game outside of your let's play to get a grasp on how effective it could be. Best of luck in figuring how to use it, I suppose. Good job as always. Looking forward to seeing you build the most powerful decks you can think of, among other things.
I can very much understand your confusion about the last fight. Way to make the passives read like a huge nested if-else code block, PM. It's much more complicated than needed, whereas the necessary strategies are as simple as redirecting and big damage. Then they'd go out their way to be anxiety-inducingly vague about certain things like 'uses mass attack if the battle gets long'. It's a fun fight, but much is left to be desired. Also, if somehow ten thousand people haven't already told you this, Purple Tear's special stance bonuses are: Slash: +50% damage (Slash dice only) Pierce: 2x debuffs applied Blunt: +50% stagger damage (Blunt dice only) Guard: Immune to status ailments
Important clarification for Pierce: it doubles ONLY Combat Page effects. It doesn't do anything about passive status effects. Also, Slash and Blunt apply their increased damage and stagger to all dice, they just don't give power to others.

It doesn't do that. Only the librarian is affected by it, a hand with extra strength will still benefit from it while the librarian is nulled. The description outright lies.

So there’s some funny strategies I’ve seen for Yan. One example is that those dodge dice make for a very cheap way to get “Claim their bones” by losing the clash. Another is by using the learning page of Roland’s floor. By having 1 endurance Roland can Copy all of Yan’s counter dodge die (because it copies all the counter die queue) and exhaust all the counter die allowing him to be killed in phase 1. There’s some really good time saves. I think you could forever clear your name as a bad player (you beat every boss on SoTC 1st try so I don’t think that applies to you) if you can find any cheese strats like that in the future (they only get funnier as we go on)
And what are you going to use Claim Their Bones on during Yan's fight? Hands? They are easy enough to deactivate as it is, can't be killed off AND they remain active until the scene ends anyway, making burst damage useless since they keep going as if nothing happened. Yan himself has no non-counter dice it can clash with.
The Purple Guard Stance makes you immune to all status including Immobilisation. Only if there was a really strong card which only downside it has immobilisation /s Purple Tear has a lot of versatility. As for Yan he's okay, his on-play cards can be useful support, his Mass Attacks is pretty strong, but most of the fun stuff you get from Yan book is the non exclusive cards, Ominous Power is great for meme decks, Will of The City is a card that can fit in almost any deck, Blind Faith is a good against mass attack and power null enemies, and Sword of Violation is really strong after a few emotion levels.
Yan fight was funny for me. For some reason, it just never occurred to me that I could target Yan's counterdice while his hands were active. After some tries, I won without redirecting any of his buffing cards. I only figured out I could after I replayed his fight to farm wotc.
Regarding "city folks have nothing to do with it" 1:51:45 - they totaly are the issue is that "light" is created for city folks to be saved and Angela is one who had to be martire for it. And she obviously not into this. On hers blood and abnormalities and lobcorp workers it was made and there is nothing wrong for her to blame them. If not City folks being as they are none would have put her into this. There would have been no Karmen obsessing over it and no Ain to follow her and no one to create her just to be mechanism in there grand plan. To put it bluntly: she have been working without salary for 10 000 years and now she is in search of one who will fill in her paycheck. if this project was created by Ain for people, then guess they can pay for him instead. Yep, they are not aware of this shitty deal Ain was preparing for them, but who care if you are now without your sallary and told "just go turn off or something" tldr; Angela need stop being selfish and let go of her paycheck for 10 000 years suffering
I love this part so much for what it is. Some kind of unknown urban supernatural conspiracy, a religion that haunts anyone it touches. Like works of Naoki Urasawa. Sound design here is amazing, It is evil, menacing, haunting but doesn't change it's tone. For me Purple Tear is the best page you can get in this game. Stances are op and pure fun but unfortunately player is too powerfull, so most of the fights is just stomping everything (like 80-90% of the game ).
PT is objectively the best keypage, there's simply no contest with both how versatile she is and sheer powerstacking, whether you use Myongest or not. PT, Binah and Nikolai are all god tier keypages, one of them just happens to be limited to one floor.

The purple tear is a true Colour Fixer. Not some "potential" nonsense. As for Blue Boy and his posse, if they go about it like a reception, then it's probably inevitable that they'll lose, unless the game tries to pull a fast one and it doesn't matter fighting them because "hurr durr, Argalia snuck past to steal the Light". Now as for the Prescripts, I somewhat guessed it, but at the same time didn't. I suspected it might've been some sort of machine creating the Prescripts. But it actually being caused by the city itself and the people within was a surprise. though that does make one question...Is The City sentient? Is it in fact a giant pseudo-organism, and every person within it "cells"?
Consider the following: there are gaps between collective unconscious where Abnormalities come from and the real world, such as the Black Forest. Abnormalities are not limited to being corporeal entities, you have a radio frequency and Nothing There (it's not actually a flesh monster, what you see is always a shell) as examples of abstract ones. It's very plausible that the City is either an Abnormality of its own or it's also anomalous like the forest and the Prescripts are essentially bits of that collective unconscious leaking out in their own way.

Before I fought the Purple Tear, I always wondered what that name meant. We knew that Gebura became the Red Mist because that's what her victims looked like when she was done with them, a red mist of blood. I speculated that maybe the Purple Tear used something like venom to cause her foes to release liquid from their body openings, but most importantly their eye ducts, creating a purple tear. Now I know I was wrong, but her having a snake in her card arts made me feel better

I recommend you to equip this workshop mod as well that provid no keypage cap (eg, allowing you to equip and obtain more than one red mist keypage) so that you can have red mist strongest passive on general floor without taking away gebura keypage and equipping all the keypage passives for gebura when you are trying to use her ever again the steamworkshop mod is called Nolimit , I aint putting the link just in case of any untrustable link issue.
I mean, that honestly sounds kinda boring to be honest. Having mods to change apperence is one thing, but just literly having cheat-codes on to break the game not only ruins build variety for the fights, but also makes it a "ignore the cards, just Unga-Bunga to Win!" affair.
@@plinfan6541 The point of that mod is rather for being able to have two same keypages in two different floor as a main key since removing entire enhanced keypage just for single passive is rather too unnecessary. Of course you can still seek for balance by simply not having 1+same keypages in same floor(if the original keypage cap is at 1) This also apply on passive by not having 1+ passives that original can only come from low amount of keypage cap passive(like not Having 1+ red mist strongest passive in 1+ librarians in same floor)
@@erron6877 Eh, I can see the argument, but for a first Playthrough, especially for a Let's Play, the run should be kept natural without resorting to Gameplay affecting stuff like this. The modded skins are 100% okay, they just add character. And the unlimited Book stuff just reduces the amount of offscreen Grinding, which is also understandable. But, while not a major change, it can still feel cheap to boost the power with out-game material.

Tip for the Rapid Gashes/Clone build, it's basically tailor made for Yujin's key page since she restores 2 light from cards who's ORIGINAL cost is 4 or higher. So even Rapid Gashes who's cost becomes 0 still restore 2 light.

First: Congratulations on beating Distorted Yan and The Purple Tear. I can't speak for their difficulty, but from what I've heard they are some of the strongest and most challenging bosses in the game, hence why they're placed alongside Xiao and R-Corp Round 2.
...Secondly, congratulations on basically completely disregarding any and all semblance of advantage during your fights and still coming out on top. Late-game receptions are extremely EGO Page heavy, and while I can't speak for how much they'd help in these fights, I'd wager they would have made your workload significantly lighter on the boss department. And you proceeded to win without even using them.
I'm honestly impressed, genuinely speaking. Hoping that History gets their time to shine again soon- You're nearing the endgame, after all, and it'd be wonderful to see the History Team participate in the final stretch.

Purple Tear is notoriously good as a page, and her combat pages are also busted as hell when applied correctly. Now, I won't tell you how to use them- figuring out synergies with Abnormalities and other cards is part of the fun, but if you do manage to utilise her correctly you've got one of the best combatants in the entire game. Then again all of SoTC Tier 3 is powerful, so there's nothing much to say on that department.
Distorted Yan's pages are also probably great, but I haven't seen enough of the game outside of your let's play to get a grasp on how effective it could be. Best of luck in figuring how to use it, I suppose.

I can very much understand your confusion about the last fight. Way to make the passives read like a huge nested if-else code block, PM. It's much more complicated than needed, whereas the necessary strategies are as simple as redirecting and big damage. Then they'd go out their way to be anxiety-inducingly vague about certain things like 'uses mass attack if the battle gets long'. It's a fun fight, but much is left to be desired.
Also, if somehow ten thousand people haven't already told you this, Purple Tear's special stance bonuses are:
Slash: +50% damage (Slash dice only)
Pierce: 2x debuffs applied
Blunt: +50% stagger damage (Blunt dice only)
Guard: Immune to status ailments
Important clarification for Pierce: it doubles ONLY Combat Page effects. It doesn't do anything about passive status effects.
Also, Slash and Blunt apply their increased damage and stagger to all dice, they just don't give power to others.

Note the "any dice clashing with them." It doesn't do that. Only the librarian is affected by it, a hand with extra strength will still benefit from it while the librarian is nulled. The description outright lies.

So, does anybody know how to prompt Foreman into doing the future thing in a non-nerfed way without spoiling him on it?
So there’s some funny strategies I’ve seen for Yan. One example is that those dodge dice make for a very cheap way to get “Claim their bones” by losing the clash. Another is by using the learning page of Roland’s floor. By having 1 endurance Roland can Copy all of Yan’s counter dodge die (because it copies all the counter die queue) and exhaust all the counter die allowing him to be killed in phase 1. There’s some really good time saves. I think you could forever clear your name as a bad player (you beat every boss on SoTC 1st try so I don’t think that applies to you) if you can find any cheese strats like that in the future (they only get funnier as we go on)
And what are you going to use Claim Their Bones on during Yan's fight? Hands? They are easy enough to deactivate as it is, can't be killed off AND they remain active until the scene ends anyway, making burst damage useless since they keep going as if nothing happened. Yan himself has no non-counter dice it can clash with.
The Purple Guard Stance makes you immune to all status including Immobilisation. Only if there was a really strong card which only downside it has immobilisation /s
Purple Tear has a lot of versatility. As for Yan he's okay, his on-play cards can be useful support, his Mass Attacks is pretty strong, but most of the fun stuff you get from Yan book is the non exclusive cards, Ominous Power is great for meme decks, Will of The City is a card that can fit in almost any deck, Blind Faith is a good against mass attack and power null enemies, and Sword of Violation is really strong after a few emotion levels.

Yan fight was funny for me. For some reason, it just never occurred to me that I could target Yan's counterdice while his hands were active. After some tries, I won without redirecting any of his buffing cards. I only figured out I could after I replayed his fight to farm wotc.

the issue is that "light" is created for city folks to be saved and Angela is one who had to be martire for it. And she obviously not into this.
On hers blood and abnormalities and lobcorp workers it was made and there is nothing wrong for her to blame them. If not City folks being as they are none would have put her into this. There would have been no Karmen obsessing over it and no Ain to follow her and no one to create her just to be mechanism in there grand plan.

I love this part so much for what it is. Some kind of unknown urban supernatural conspiracy, a religion that haunts anyone it touches. Like works of Naoki Urasawa. Sound design here is amazing, It is evil, menacing, haunting but doesn't change it's tone.
For me Purple Tear is the best page you can get in this game. Stances are op and pure fun but unfortunately player is too powerfull, so most of the fights is just stomping everything (like 80-90% of the game ).
PT is objectively the best keypage, there's simply no contest with both how versatile she is and sheer powerstacking, whether you use Myongest or not. PT, Binah and Nikolai are all god tier keypages, one of them just happens to be limited to one floor.

As for Blue Boy and his posse, if they go about it like a reception, then it's probably inevitable that they'll lose, unless the game tries to pull a fast one and it doesn't matter fighting them because "hurr durr, Argalia snuck past to steal the Light".
Now as for the Prescripts, I somewhat guessed it, but at the same time didn't. I suspected it might've been some sort of machine creating the Prescripts. But it actually being caused by the city itself and the people within was a surprise. though that does make one question...Is The City sentient? Is it in fact a giant pseudo-organism, and every person within it "cells"?
Consider the following: there are gaps between collective unconscious where Abnormalities come from and the real world, such as the Black Forest. Abnormalities are not limited to being corporeal entities, you have a radio frequency and Nothing There (it's not actually a flesh monster, what you see is always a shell) as examples of abstract ones.
It's very plausible that the City is either an Abnormality of its own or it's also anomalous like the forest and the Prescripts are essentially bits of that collective unconscious leaking out in their own way.

Before I fought the Purple Tear, I always wondered what that name meant. We knew that Gebura became the Red Mist because that's what her victims looked like when she was done with them, a red mist of blood.
I speculated that maybe the Purple Tear used something like venom to cause her foes to release liquid from their body openings, but most importantly their eye ducts, creating a purple tear.
Now I know I was wrong, but her having a snake in her card arts made me feel better
It supposedly refers to teardrops and that's exactly what other languages use to translate the name.

I recommend you to equip this workshop mod as well that provid no keypage cap (eg, allowing you to equip and obtain more than one red mist keypage) so that you can have red mist strongest passive on general floor without taking away gebura keypage and equipping all the
keypage passives for gebura when you are trying to use her ever again
the steamworkshop mod is called Nolimit , I aint putting the link just in case of any untrustable link issue.
I mean, that honestly sounds kinda boring to be honest. Having mods to change apperence is one thing, but just literly having cheat-codes on to break the game not only ruins build variety for the fights, but also makes it a "ignore the cards, just Unga-Bunga to Win!" affair.
@@plinfan6541 The point of that mod is rather for being able to have two same keypages in two different floor as a main key since removing entire enhanced keypage just for single passive is rather too unnecessary.
Of course you can still seek for balance by simply not having 1+same keypages in same floor(if the original keypage cap is at 1)
This also apply on passive by not having 1+ passives that original can only come from low amount of keypage cap passive(like not Having 1+ red mist strongest passive in 1+ librarians in same floor)
@@erron6877 Eh, I can see the argument, but for a first Playthrough, especially for a Let's Play, the run should be kept natural without resorting to Gameplay affecting stuff like this. The modded skins are 100% okay, they just add character. And the unlimited Book stuff just reduces the amount of offscreen Grinding, which is also understandable. But, while not a major change, it can still feel cheap to boost the power with out-game material.
