The first location is right where I live! Every kid had their birthday party there, that yellow slide was nicknamed “the death slide”. Plus I believe the accident occurred where you are in the thumbnail and not on the slide. Great vid, crazy to see a place I went so many times like this
Weirdly I couldn't find any mention of a death at this fun house online... Also some of their slides were called "death slides" on their own website. What.
Unfortunately there wasn't much officially released regarding the incident, also not sure where the thing about a broken neck came from as there is nothing about it online. From reviews it was most likely a broken leg or arm, and from personal experience when I was about 8, it was most likely caused by the bungee cord section. Kids would use this to climb up and down the layers of the fun park, and because of how easy it was for someone to lose balance, fall, jump or slip, it could have been caused through many ways.
Luke Pickle it was from the bungee section, a kid (I think) jumped but I’m not positive. Either way he somehow broke his neck on the bungee section. That’s why when they were trying to climb down the netted bungees there were parts cut. The workers/paramedics cut the ropes to get the boy out.
Im actually from the south west and i used to go to Rainbow fun house all the time when I was a child, its such a shame to see the fun house in this state, it was always busy when i went and i always had so much fun here. I cannot believe you did a video in the south west and especially in Torquay
Many websites state that it is illegal to own an owl as a pet, but they are only partially correct. People can own various owls in the UK, but in the United States, you cannot own a snowy owl-or any other native owl-as a pet. They are federally protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
potato waffle - lol why is your account photo a child if your childhood birthdays where held there?? And if you did go there as a kid answer this question- what was the only theme they had for girls birthday parties?
Hey Josh we have a bigger version of that funhouse here in Cornwall UK it's called Kidzworld at Par near St Austell but it's still very much open and very epic. The place even has free bumper cars and crazy golf. You pay one price then stay all day everything is free apart from food and drink. x
We had a place in my state Indiana called Incredible pizza that had a buffet, movie rooms, mini golf, blowing, bumper cars, arcade games, and laser tag it was ace but sadly closed a few years ago.
The fire at the former Rainbow Funhouse in a converted Torquay church has brought memories flooding back for a whole generation of parents and youngsters.

if you see there is a pole onto or infront on the slide, u are probably supposed to hold onto it and let go dropping yourself whilst your leaning back onto the slide. (or that's how I think it works as we have a similar slide in Australia)

For everyone confused, the start at the church fun house (not the farm): This is The Rainbow Fun House, it was made into a kids funhouse ages ago. You were able to have birthday parties, and go play there whenever you felt like it. The death slide (I will admit) was very steep, in 2019 there was a fire and toxic gas spread throughout the place because of the plastic inside. When I was younger I had many birthday parties here, it was amazing. Playing It inside of here was the best, it had three floors (I’m pretty sure) and underground you had a birthday party rooms for food and stuff! The chips were amazing, I will admit the hygiene wasn’t amazing but as a kid you were to busy playing inside the fun house. And as to the kid breaking is head in the rope? I haven’t really heard much about that, idk if it’s real or not. Edit: 5:30 what me and my friends would do, we would fall backwards and we would drop to the ground. Edit 2: 4:43 this slide was BOMB, you’d slide down it and get caught in a bunch of different colourful balls. (It’s much better than Devil’s Drop- the death slide) Edit 3: 4:59 it took me until I was at least 9 to walk across that rope, it looked too sketchy
I believe you can keep owls if you possess teaching or science/ avian certificates, youd have to be in that field ,veterinary ect. we had a pet store business and we could display for educational purposes native species . so look to those methods, you may have to get some veterinary school certificates.
I live in Torquay and used to go to the Rainbow Funhouse all the time when I was little (around 2005-2015). All of the rumours about why it closed aren’t true. It shut simply because it wasn’t making enough money & the owners were old and wanted to retire. Not as interesting as the stories Ik but that’s why it shut.
I live in same town as this fun house, it was set on fire earlier this year. Suspected insurance job lol but as for the dirtiness of the place it was legit dirty when it was open. Recognised the place from the intro slide scene lol

Those bungee things that they were on is probably how the kid broke his neck. That looks really dangerous and impossible to get through. I would be scared too if I was him
I know in a few states you can own an owl without a permit, (South Carolina) and in some states you need a permit to have one, (Ohio) I know there are some other states that have permits but I forgot which ones, there are a few types of owls you can get with a permit though, hope this helps :)
I find it quite surreal that people seem so obsessed with this place - or rather, I would do, if I didn’t understand the obsession myself. It’s just weird being from such a tiny insignificant town that nobody has heard of, and finding out that people all over the country, and even in countries like America, know about this place where you spent a decade of your childhood. So I thought I’d write out some personal memories from this place I used to call my favourite place in the entire world. I think some of you who are entranced by this place and its story will find my own experiences quite interesting. I had been going there since before I can remember, up to the age of 11 - objectively, probably way too old to be going to play-places like this one, but I didn’t care! I loved it not only for the play equipment but for how cool and gothic it was. I remember you could see old church portraits (spiderwebbed, naturally) and stained glass panels behind some of the gaps in the walls. I was in love with it. Even as I got older, and it started to decay, I thought that made it all the more magical and creepy. It used to be buzzing with people, but by the time I was 11, when I went there for my birthday with my friend, we were the only people in the entire building, other than the one woman manning the reception desk behind closed doors on the first floor. We had almost the entire building to ourselves. We mucked around using all the equipment wrong and having fun. I firmly believe we were some of the last people ever to go here. (That was in 2014). I’d have loved to see evidence of that in a receptionist’s book, if I ever got to explore the place. I’d have been able to find mine and my family’s names dating back to 2003. I remember being much younger and driving around the roads leading to the Rainbow Fun House, on my way to it. You’d always see the huge church spire before you saw anything else, towering over the roofs of all the other buildings on the streets in front of it. It filled me with this buzzing sense of excitement. Pulling into the car park was so exciting too. There was a sign outside, saying the Rainbow Fun House, and this big arch over the doorway. So enticing. I remember there was a purple death slide (not sure if other countries/places use the term “death slide” - basically means a big wooden slide with a ‘scary’ drop). The purple one wasn’t so bad, but the big brown wooden one was the Big Daddy of all death slides. It had no waves or curves, just a vertical drop, until the floor where it smoothed out. My dad took me down there as a toddler on his lap. When I was 11, I tried to lower myself over the edge and quickly lost my nerve. I tried to pull myself back up using the nylon netting to the side of the slide, but I didn’t have the upper body strength. (It’s a wonder the netting didn’t break! But that stuff always seemed to be invincible). I had no choice but to try to gently drop myself down. Since I was sort of suspended in the air rather than flush against the slide, I didn’t slide down, I kind of… fell. I bumped at the bottom, but I was surprisingly fine. I remember the big rainbow slide with 6 lanes. (A lot of places have those slides). Me and my friend walked across the top of these lanes when we were mucking about, the time the whole place was deserted. It was one of those where you have one of the brown itchy mats to go down it. You needed a mat for the helter skelter too. (That’s the yellow tube slide that has been disassembled and you can see it stacked up in pieces near the entrance of the building in most of these exploration videos. Not sure why this slide got taken apart and none of the other equipment did). I remember the helter skelter quite vividly. It was in its own section of the building, sort of, and you had to climb all the way to the top up these foamy steps, carrying your mat, and it was exhausting! Worth it though. Part of the building I remember the most was the rainbow steps going from the ground floor to the first floor. They were made of metal, the kind of metal with criss cross patterns on it (just googled it - “tread plate” metal) and they were all in different colours of the rainbow. Your feet made a distinctive clang, clang, clang sound as you walked up each step. There were little signs to the side of the banisters telling you not to wear shoes. On the ground floor was this little automated ride with the characters from the Magic Roundabout on it (google it if you’re not familiar with the movie). There was also this little go-kart bit with a bridge above it. You could drive a go-kart round the track or you could walk up the bridge and stand overhead and watch them go round. I remember my dad and brothers spending hours on the go-karts. I found the little bridge so magical, I loved climbing up there to watch them. I’m trying hard to remember things now! The whole place had a distinctive musky smell. The kind of smell where you suddenly catch a whiff of it somewhere and go “oh shit - that smells like ____,” even years after you’ve smelt that smell, because it’s just so memorable. The reason it closed down initially was because it was in a state beyond repair and nobody was attending anymore. As I said, I have always been drawn to the creepy charm of the place and this just amplified it for me. If I didn’t feel like I was too old to keep going, I would’ve gone day after day til it closed! It was always kind of gross and dusty, because of the whole ‘inside a church’ situation, but it definitely got grosser. I didn’t mind though. I remember learning that it had been abandoned officially, and being so drawn to the prospect of this creepy church/playground combo becoming even CREEPIER due to the abandonment factor. I longed to explore it but never had the guts. Lots of videos online are taken during this stage - pre-fire, post-abandonment. I wish I could’ve explored it and taken one of the little signs home to keep, or just some kind of memento of the place. Then, there was the fire - presumably an insurance job, as nobody wanted to buy the place. Now my morbid side was even MORE intrigued - abandoned church/kid’s playground was now in cinders. (Although I should note I was also devastated, as like I said, this had been my favourite place on earth not long before). Some other exploration videos are taken in this stage - after the fire, so everything is all mushy from the water hoses, and blackened and burnt. As much as I adore creepy abandoned buildings, (and the bizarre feeling of a town so unknown being the subject of TH-cam videos), watching these videos makes me feel horribly sad and empty somewhere in my heart, as this place was my first love. I’m not sure if I would’ve liked to explore it post-fire, either - apparently it was still easy to get into, but I’m not sure I’d like to remember it that way. I definitely would’ve preferred to explore it post-abandonment and pre-fire. However, I don’t have any of these options anymore as it has now been bought and is being made into a house. You should know that for years, from the ages of 11 to 18 and beyond, I have been having dreams (some nicer, some pure nightmare material) about this place. No matter how much I liked it, it was undoubtedly freaky. And these dreams continue to this day. Anyone who frequented this place, with all its eerie character, is probably destined to have these same dreams for their whole lives. It was like nowhere else on the entire planet. I’m quite glad it’s getting some of the recognition it deserves now, for being so uniquely creepy, however it does make me sad to occasionally come across it plastered on social media as it reminds me of its horrible story. Plus it feels kind of weird to see people gawking at it for entertainment value and saying they ‘feel like they’ve been there before’ when some of us actually HAVE been there and are heartbroken by what happened. But that being said, I could never expect to keep a place like this to myself forever, no matter how big a part of my childhood it was, or how special to me. It is just too unique and awe-inspiring to be kept hidden. I inadvertently swung by the place on the bus not so long ago, and shuddered from the spooky feeling it gave me. But that’s just how it’s always been - perfectly creepy. Long live the Rainbow Fun House! :’)

The first location is right where I live! Every kid had their birthday party there, that yellow slide was nicknamed “the death slide”. Plus I believe the accident occurred where you are in the thumbnail and not on the slide. Great vid, crazy to see a place I went so many times like this

Yes, I went there before when on holiday. The yellow slide seen in the video was referred to as the "death slide".

What was the accident that happened at the Fun House?
I heard him say something about a kids neck breaking
Unfortunately there wasn't much officially released regarding the incident, also not sure where the thing about a broken neck came from as there is nothing about it online.
From reviews it was most likely a broken leg or arm, and from personal experience when I was about 8, it was most likely caused by the bungee cord section. Kids would use this to climb up and down the layers of the fun park, and because of how easy it was for someone to lose balance, fall, jump or slip, it could have been caused through many ways.
@@gyrthez246 I heard him say something about a broken neck too
Luke Pickle it was from the bungee section, a kid (I think) jumped but I’m not positive. Either way he somehow broke his neck on the bungee section. That’s why when they were trying to climb down the netted bungees there were parts cut. The workers/paramedics cut the ropes to get the boy out.

Many websites state that it is illegal to own an owl as a pet, but they are only partially correct. People can own various owls in the UK, but in the United States, you cannot own a snowy owl-or any other native owl-as a pet. They are federally protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
Came here to say just this. However if you can manage to work or volunteer at a wildlife rehab you might get to interact with an owl!
Changing a church into a funhouse isn't a once in a life time thing in the UK :')
DannyIsARiot To be fair it’s rarer than turning it into a theatre, nightclub or climbing place

Such a shame when these types of places close because kids really don't have the entertainment now that keeps them off the streets. x

if you see there is a pole onto or infront on the slide, u are probably supposed to hold onto it and let go dropping yourself whilst your leaning back onto the slide. (or that's how I think it works as we have a similar slide in Australia)

For everyone confused, the start at the church fun house (not the farm):
This is The Rainbow Fun House, it was made into a kids funhouse ages ago.
(It’s much better than Devil’s Drop- the death slide)
Edit 3: 4:59 it took me until I was at least 9 to walk across that rope, it looked too sketchy
I believe you can keep owls if you possess teaching or science/ avian certificates, youd have to be in that field ,veterinary ect. we had a pet store business and we could display for educational purposes native species . so look to those methods, you may have to get some veterinary school certificates.
In some states you'll need an exotic pet license. Just like to own a fox, skunk, or even sugar glider (it's different per state)
For everybody wondering, the first location is

I live in Torquay and used to go to the Rainbow Funhouse all the time when I was little (around 2005-2015). All of the rumours about why it closed aren’t true. It shut simply because it wasn’t making enough money & the owners were old and wanted to retire. Not as interesting as the stories Ik but that’s why it shut.

Josh you made my day with this video! I am waaaay too sore from work today, and it was nice to come home and curl up in bed watching this
I find it quite surreal that people seem so obsessed with this place - or rather, I would do, if I didn’t understand the obsession myself.
