    Megan. I LOVE how strong you are in your Faith yet you can still keep an open mind to relate and you dont just show your children these wonderful sights. you show them balance.

    What you said about it being a Privilege to stand in the exact stop that was so meaningful to people is something I love. I am Irish but I recently visited Petra, Jordan, and to be walking around this place that meant so very much to the people of the past and the amount of things that went on in that very spot is very moving

    Megan...loved your comments about us all being connected and that we are all human with a human experience and that the important that this place was sacred!

    Thank you Meagan for your prospective on ancient sacred sights. We are held accountable for what we know and our understanding. Certainly our understanding of faith has change thru the meliniums.
    And thanks for making me tear up, to remember the hands, big and small, free and slave, who touched those wall, climbed those steps, looked out the windows on guard.

    What you were saying about people living in the past being humans, no matter what they believed, really resonated with me. There are so many different lives that were lead across history and the planet, but no matter what we believe, the human experience can be touched by worry, fear and hopefully, love and joy, and it such a humble reminder that we are all connected by this, thank you!
    Loving the clogs!

    Any other Irish viewers immediately panic and feel terrible that something awful had happened while they visited Dublin?? Hospitality & national pride is in our genetics so this genuinely gave me the fear. Clickbait is the worst... :(

    13:56 is a Postcard-Picture-perfect snapshot of Ireland! The kids running through the green fields! I am from Ireland! I hope you enjoyed your time here! We don't get a whole lot of good weather, it's generally cold most of the time! But, aside from the cold, we do take advantage of the dry/sunny/fine days we do get, and from this Clip I see wonderful blue Skies, and I love that you took your time to enjoy the Irish landscape.... : )
    I hope any Irish people that you met / bumped-into extended our friendly warm Irish welcome to you! : )

    I TOTALLY understand Meghan! I grew up in “mysterious/majestic/beautiful Alaska, yet NOTHING but Native villages were more than 70 years old (at the outlier)! That’s why I understand your need for travel and experience ... have been fortunate enough to have seen more than most of the world as well, but only as an adult and MOSTLY after my children were grown! It would have been incredible if my own childhood military family of 8 kids growing up had experienced even a little of what your children are ... my own father just spent a LOT of time being gone to war while my mother moved a couple of bases in the US, while raising us mostly alone! You two are doing a fantastic job that your children will (I guarantee!) appreciate exponentially the life you’ve given them along the way and certainly once they are adults! Thanks SO much for taking us all along on your journey ... what a privilege “knowing” you! God bless!

    Megan...your commentary today demonstrates a depth and wisdom not usually associated with entertainment: your vlog has some really important moments of educating me. Like the vlog where you and Esther talked about her journey about processing her adoption, that was such an eye-opener for me. I ended up researching other topics. Wow.

    Hi"""" I'm glad you liked Newgrange And the hill of slane I live not from there in a place called Drogheda

  • @EricIrl
    @EricIrl 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I visited Newgrange as a child in 1967. In those days there was no car park, no visitor's centre, no restaurants - just a gate into a muddy field which you walked across to the burial mound. It's all a bit different now.
    It's an impressive site. Nobody knows who the people were who built these passage graves but they are great pieces of engineering for what were essentially Bronze Age people.
    It's a pity the guide didn't seem to be as enthusiastic about the site as he should have been.

    What great memories your children are going to have. Yes they are spoiled in comparison to other kids with what they are experiencing but what an education they are getting. I have been impressed with the respect they have for the historical things they are seeing. It will be interesting for you and Mike to listen to them in years to come reminiscing about these travels. Take care.

    If you can't fit in carparks or find somewhere on a street. try a coach park there is usually some around for tourists coaches / Buses you can always ask a cabbie or bus driver (they don't bite) Lol safe travels, your so right your children are so lucky they might not thank you now but they will in the future.

    That was a beautiful way of explaining the cultural and historical importance of visiting sights like the castle. Not that you should have to explain your reasons. Love watching your family grow and have adventures. Keep up doing your own thing. Those kids are a wonderful blessing to you, as you are to those kids.

    Absolutely beautiful there. There's another family that I follow on TH-cam who adopted a couple of little girls. And they just went to the same place a few days ago now they're in Scotland, maybe they're on their way home I didn't check yesterday. But it's absolutely gorgeous there

  • @CartePostale.
    @CartePostale. 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I hope that Colin told you about sunlight filling the chamber during days around the Winter Solstice? Maybe I missed that as I left the study for a moment. Although Si an Bhru was built by "animists" it is thought to be a "burial mound", just one of the reasons to respect it with no photography. After I had my professional qualifications, I did a degree in Archaeology & enjoyed every moment & I was really able to appreciate the history of Ireland (& Europe in general) in a new way! I had to smile when I heard where you'd travelled as we were blessed with homes in U.S.A., Ireland & France!! If we are not in a particular spot, we let friends stay (gratis) or, if we know a family needs a "roof" they are welcome to ours :). However, this is only the 2nd video of yours that I have watched so I'm too late! I am sorry that you visited Ireland in the Fall as you were sure to get rain then. Our home in Ireland has it's own "microclimate" with slightly warmer temperatures & lower precipitation & it may interest you to know that Seattle, Wa. has about DOUBLE the annual rainfall of Ireland (on average). I had just watched one of your videos for the 1st time. I am also quite sad as, matched with the thumbnail, one would think a disaster had occurred then I read, as in any city, it was merely a parking issue. I have to thank you for not being quite so patronizing as some visitors to Ireland are on TH-cam. Hospitality to the stranger was one of the ancient "Brehon" laws & we love visitors but have our own way of paying back those who mock our culture (usually in telling severely self-deprecating stories with donkeys walking on treadmills to provide electricity, etc). You have a lovely family (we adopted also & call ourselves a "United Nations" also with "other-abled" children). Ahh! great fun! Blessings, to you & yours.

    I love that even though you have strong religious beliefs, you still give credit to the pagans and don't discount their lives! So many Christians just preach how the pagans are wrong and you should stay away from such things. But you let history show. Thank you for that! Mind you I am not pagan, but i have friends that are. I believe in freedom of religion. All religions whether I agree with them or not.

    • @sweetpeas8782
      @sweetpeas8782 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm atheist and watch them because they explain their religion and why and where fors, but it's not rimmed down your throat, or told anyone else is wrong. I respect that and I'm fascinated by people's lives, their beliefs... What makes them tick x I know so many 'good Christians' who talk about how good they are all the time, but their actions don't show it. I'm thinking of one who's a horrible, twisted lady. Your family could teach her a thing or two

    Am I missing something? I watched the entire video. On New Grange, I understand there is no history available, but you never mentioned what you saw inside that could not be filmed. I would like to have heard about it. The second place you went, was that a castle or an ancient city? What is the history of that? I would like more narration telling the history of what you are visiting. I enjoy seeing things I never knew existed before or that I will never get to travel to see, but it would make your videos a lot better if you would provide more information. More narration please.

    Absolutely loved the video the scenery was beautiful. I don't know why I felt so emotional when you were at Newgrange but it really got to me. I guess one of these days I'll have to do Ancestry DNA & find out if I have Irish ancestors. I've always been fascinated by Ireland.

      I have some Irish ancestors and would also love to visit! My grandfather got to go a while back and visit some of our family that's still there.

    Anyone in Dublin have a driveway the Knorpps can park in during day? Glad you enjoyed the change of plans. Looked interesting and children enjoyed it too.

    Maybe give people a heads up where you are going and there may be someone who can offer parking near where you want to go. I’m in Sydney and half a block from a bus stop that gets you in to the cbd in under 1/2 an hour. Would. R happy for you to park here!

    Are you going to Glendalough? It's a historic monastic settlement.

    I love how Megan sees it as it is. A place where thousands of years ago, humans existed and she doesn't get all "oh pagans!" There is so much beauty and history in the world. It is amazing to see all of these sites, whether they were sacred sites of pagans or pastafarians (people that believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster).
